It has been 6 months since Ghost had proposed to Quirrel, with the pillbug happily accepting without a second thought. Throughout those 6 months, they thoroughly planned out their wedding to both their interests and deciding which location in the entirety of the kingdom would be the best to host it.
They both ultimately agreed on their ceremony being relatively small, only having family and friends attend. Family on Ghost's side being the Nailmaster brothers, Hollow and Hornet, and Monomon on Quirrel's. The public had been incredibly nosy when it came to Ghost and their endeavors. They were not only a god but king of Hallownest, so it was at least expected but it still ended up annoying Ghost very much.
The two decided to have their wedding at Mantis Village, where the rulers, the Mantis lords, allowed Ghost to plan their wedding in the village since they became close friends with the entire tribe after challenging them all those years ago. Everything was almost perfect, Hollow was going to be the ring bearer, Hornet the flower girl, and Mato was going to walk Quirrel down to the altar.
Quirrel was incredibly nervous. He knew that this day would eventually come but the thought of him becoming king along with Ghost made him nervous. The amount of responsibility and eyes he'd have on himself. He tried to brush those thoughts away as he looked into his mirror, getting ready to walk down to marry Ghost.
Suddenly, a knock was heard at the door. "Come in!" he called, trying his best to not sound so nervous. Mato gently walked into his room, checking in on him. "Are you feeling alright, son?" Mato asked, gently placing a hand on Quirrel's shoulder.
"I'm just really nervous." Quirrel croaked quietly, gently rubbing his arm out of nervousness. "Is it due to marrying Ghost?" Mato asked. "Not only that," Quirrel started, "but also becoming king, or at least Ghost's consort but also the amount of eyes I'd also have on myself. What if something bad happens to myself or Ghost?" he asked, with a slight hint of panic in his voice.
Mato gently placed his hands onto the pillbug's shoulders and looked him in the eyes. "Listen to me, son. I know you'll be a great king. People will love you since you and Ghost have made promises to the citizens to be better rulers. I know Ghost well enough to know that they'll be a great ruler. And I know you will too. Besides, they chose you for a reason." Mato reassured Quirrel with a smile. The pillbug took a deep breath, smiling. "You're right. I'm all nervous for nothing. I...really appreciate the encouragement." he replied back, which made the Nailmaster gently pull him into a hug to which Quirrel reciprocated. "That's the spirit," he chuckled, "Now, shall we head out to the altar? We don't want to keep Ghost waiting."
"Of course, let's head out." Quirrel smiled, now feeling more confident in himself and ready to head out to the altar.
The entire wedding scene was beautiful. The green of the foliage and the different colors of the mushrooms that surrounded the village perfectly collided with each other. There were no signs of acidic water to be seen, making it completely safe to cross. Quirrel was astonished by the scenery as Mato gently walked him down the altar towards Ghost, whose face flushed slightly at the sight of their soon-to-be husband, keeping their hands behind their back.
Once Mato and Quirrel reached Ghost, the former let the latter go, taking his seat in the crowd of guests who were there to witness this beautiful ceremony. One of the Mantis Lords volunteered to read out the vows and such towards the two lovers. After she read them out, she first looked at Quirrel.
"Quirrel, formerly Monomon's assistant, do you take Ghost, king of Hallownest, to be your spouse?" the Lord asked him, which made the former assistant nod, "I do." He responded. The mantis smiled and looked back to Ghost and asked them the same thing. "Ghost, king of Hallownest. Do you take Quirrel, formerly Monomon's assistant, to be your husband?"
"I do." Ghost answered via their telepathy. The mantis smiled behind her mask, closing the book she had. "I declare you two, rulers of Hallownest, you two may kiss." She concluded, to which the two lovers shared a passionate kiss, although Ghost had to kneel down slightly but that didn't matter to them or Quirrel. The guests erupted into cheers for their new rulers. After the kiss, Hollow showed up to give Ghost and Quirrel their rings, to which they both took turns putting each ring onto their fingers.
Ghost and Quirrel were now married, and they both were incredibly happy that they finally got to unionize. They both promised each other to always be together throughout the hardships being king would eventually bring to them, and no matter what happened, they would do everything in their power to protect each other.
