Chapter Text
On the first day of high school,
I felt pretty lost.
I couldn’t find my way through,
And people wouldn’t bother to help
Some newbie like me.
Everybody was too focused in their talking,
Too focused to help me,
All but one red-haired girl, who looked at me and asked, “Hey, are you new?”
It was uncharacteristic for people to help newbies,
But I replied, “Yeah, I’m Mike,”
“I’m Zoey, what class do you have?” She asked.
“Math,” I say, looking at my feet.
“Math’s in class A113, I could help you get there,
My class is next to yours!”
We walk together to room A113,
And she waves goodbye, and enters room A112.
Then I enter my class, and realize I can’t stop thinking about Zoey.

In my class, there are many people,
The only seat left is in the very front,
And there’s a boy with wide eyes and a red hoodie
In the seat next to mine.
“H-hiya, I’m Cameron,” he stammers out.
“And I’m Mike, nice to meet ya!”
We talk until the tardy bell rings,
And the teacher begins with his boring lesson,
So I doodle on my paper instead,
And Cameron says, “Wow, you’re talented,”
Before refocusing on the class.
He seems like he’s smart.
