Work Text:
A very, very scary Holo-Movie
“Everyone, shut up! The movie’s about to start!”
Omega was in charge.
As this was her turn to choose the holo-movie of the night, the family’s scheduled event as they had for each rotation a special family get-together. And Omega certainly had chosen a doozy this time around. As it was supposed to be something totally scary. According to the clone boys that is. The trio having become somewhat of aficionados in this specific genre.
“Omega!”
“Well, I want to concentrate from the very start. Not like last time when everyone was talking over the beginning and I missed an important scene.” She wasn’t wrong either, but that was last time.
“Sure you do sweetie. Now everyone shut up so Omega can watch her show.” Crosshair ordered the others, as anything for his little girl, right!
“Movie.”
“Sure it is.”
They all settled, silence descending as the started credits rolling.
They all watched intently as the flick started with a, rather, um dark image.
“I cant see anything.” Wrecker complained.
“It’s the ambience, they’re setting the scene, Wrecks.”
“But there’s nuttin there!”
“Shh!!!”
Nothing happened for a moment, only suspenseful music playing in the background.
And then, it started: with the blood curling scream suddenly out of nowhere. The slice of the knife sound could be heard too. Then someone was running but getting nowhere fast in a nightmarish forest and a … werewolf appeared… blood on the ground. The rather loud howl piercing the silence of the Batch’s living room. Then there was some more running and screaming, the scary music continued as did the screams and howls.
There were teeth clattering, fingers grabbing the soft cushions, jaws dropping, pulses beating harder and harder… And that was all in the living room of the audience.
The holo-movie finally ending, with the credits rolling and the screen going blank. None of them were speaking. The flick certainly having had an effect on them all.
Until.
“So, bedtime?”
“I um… can we all just, sleep in here, together. Please?” Omega was looking all pale with Batcher curled against her tightly, the dog clearly upset as were the rest of them. The lot of them looking rather pale and rattled and unsettled.
“Yeah, yeah, Kid. Guess we can camp out here for tonight.” Hunter glanced at the rest of his family, all of them looking, well, afraid, scared out of their wits?
And so they did camp out in the living room. The whole family huddled together. The scary images elicited by the movie still fresh in all their minds. But at least they were all together, being scared together.
As they had settled finally in the one cuddle heap on their makeshift camp on the living room floor, there was a loud crash heard.
“What was that?”
“It’s coming from outside, not here.”
They all listened for a spell holding their collective breaths as they did.
There was no further disturbance, thankfully though.
“Next time, we choose a romantic comedy.”
“Agreed.” The chorus replied without any objection.
