Chapter Text
If nothing goes wrong, you are going to die pretty soon.
Its pretty normal, you are but a mortal. Nothing can break the shackles bounded by the short lifespan of mortals.
But you have been living for more than 200 years. For the long lived, 200 years are but a blink of an eye, but for a mortal, it may or maybe their entire lifespan.
During the time of these 200 years, you have enjoyed the beautiful scenery offered by the land of Teyvat, witnessed many many things, had the chance to meet a lot of great people.
You were pretty satisfied with your current life.
But you were still greedy for more. That's also normal, how can humans be called humans if they aren't greedy?
You don't want to die, you don't want to leave, you don't want to forget all things you have experienced in this life. But what more will that do?
You are about to die.
Bodily functions are failing rapidly
Please use your remaining time wisely, do what you wish to do.
Looking at the words in front of you, you were stunned for a second.
The things you wish to do?
You still have a lot of things you wanted to do, even more so regrets, to the point it's pretty much uncountable.
But what good will this dying body of yours do?
Teyvat is currently in war, archons occupying a portion of the land, the common people living in poverty.
You want to witness a peaceful Teyvat, where everyone could live a peaceful life without fearing for their deaths to arrive to their doorstep.
You also want to stay with Xianyun and Ping'er, enjoy the gentle breeze on the mountain tops with your friends, dazing into the sight of the sunrise.
But those are just the dreams of a mortal.
You look at yourself on the copper mirror.
In the mirror is a white-haired, brown cloak wearing man. Surprising, putting aside the white hair, no matter the facial details or the body, they look like a very young man.
Even so, only you yourself understand, it isn't what it looks like.
Every single bodily functions are old to the brim, those muscular arms and legs aren't as flexible as they used to be.
As for his young appearance, it's all thanks to the "Mortal System"
"Damn I look old" you mumbled to yourself while looking outside the window beside you.
It was raining lightly, seems like it is telling the story of your life.
When you arrived to the world of Teyvat, Teyvat was in the archon war. Powerful gods fought each other, desperately trying to gain the sacred "Seven Divine Seats"
As a mortal, you were supposed to be like the other mortals seeking shelter among one of the gods.
But you were lucky, you met the the group lead by Morax.
With your extraordinary talent in combat, you quickly learn the ways of the sword skillfully. Even though you weren't blessed by the gods to control elemental powers, you were much stronger than the others thanks to your powerful sword technique.
Battling for more than a month, you alone with nothing but your mortal body and a sword, defended one side of the Guili plains, no god were able to step into the Guili Plains thanks to you.
Your outstanding contribution among the battlefield earned you a lot of respect among the people. Afterwards, you earned the honorary title of "General Fushou"
As time goes by, your merits spread far and wide.
Even as a mortal, you were comparable to the yakshas, maybe even better than the Adepti.
Of course, you were an eye-sore for the other gods.
For the people in Guili Plains, as long as the God of Geo and General Fushou is still here, Guili Plains will never fall.
This is your life, they were lows, but often more, glory.
But now, you were old.
It's winter, the cold is bone chilling, even more for an old man like you.
"Sigh, i wonder how many elders aren't gonna get over this winter."
You put on your winter coat, and pushed open the door.
The icy cold air came into the house immediately, earning a shiver from you.
A familiar figure entered your sight. They are holding an umbrella in front of your door, still deciding if they want to enter the room or not.
It's a very cute girl, long blue hair spread across her shoulders, two curve and pointy horns were present on her head. Maybe due to the cold, her cute face is blushing.
"Fanan? Why have you arrived?"
The Hydro Yaksha Bonasus, one of the yaksha's under the God of Geo's name, titled "General Luojuan"
"Wh...where are you going?" Fanan eye's were looking somewhere, she seemed very shy.
"I'm not going anywhere, just having a stroll in my backyard." you answered.
"Although the days without fighting is pretty relaxing, but i stayed at home for so long I'm about to rust." you continued.
"I, i found a place with a very nice looking scenery, if i have the time i would like to bring you there." Fanan quickly walked towards you, folding the umbrella, swift movements stepping on the wooden floor, making a stomp sound on each step.
"Sure! Let's go there one day." you agreed.
But when is that day? Maybe that day isn't going to arrive to you anymore.
Leaving always make other people sad, so you hoped to quietly leave. You really don't want to see their sad and grave expression upon your death.
So you decided not to tell anyone about the news, except for Morax.
"Fanan, could you accompany me on this tiny stroll of mine?"
The rain has stopped, raindrops leaking from the rooftops, spreading on the floor, like pearls dropping, making a soft plop sound.
"Okay!" Fanan smiled happily.
Your backyard isn't really large, you can finish your stroll pretty quickly. But this time, you walked very slow.
The usual scenery in the backyard is still the same as before. But for some reason, this time it was, unusually beautiful.
You and Fanan arrived at the tiny pond, glancing at the slow movements of the fish, without speaking a single word.
Those fish were left here by Cloud Retainer.
You don't know how many years has it been. People get old, the memories as well.
You only remember, Cloud Retainer were inspecting your house, she asked why haven't you got any fish in this pond.
Then she brought some seeds and some small fries, and planted them into your pond.
Time flies by, year after year, the seeds grew into grasses, the small fries grew into giant, beautiful golden koi's.
You thought, no matter what you could win against those fishes, but damn even you couldn't beat the short lifespan of fishes.
"Where's Cloud Retainer?" you asked.
"There's nothing important going on these days, so she decided to research her adeptal mechanisms again, and keep saying that she is going to win against Gui Zhong this time."
You laughed lightly.
At least when you quietly pass away, she wouldn't know that early.
You don't want to say goodbye.
You are scared that you feel reluctant about it.
But feeling reluctant is useless, so why not just ignore the final moment, silently pass away, like playing a game of hide and seek, descend into a deep slumber alone.
"Fanan, do you have any regrets?"
"Me?" Fanan thought for a ceond.
"I don't have any regrets. Living like this with everyone else, i'm really satisfied. But i do hope that the war ends a bit faster. So that time i could go to the mountains and plant a qingxin. Once it blooms, I want... to invite you to come see it."
Fanan finished her sentence, her face still smiling.
At the same time, her eyes are showing a mild emotion of excitement.
You really wanted to say "I won't be able to have a glimpse of your Qingxin." to her, but you didn't. Like something is stopping you from saying it.
In the end, you merely smiled.
"Let's go see it together then."
