Who's Really in Charge Now?

Summary:

Vox owns Alastor's soul and wants to show him who has control. But with how obsessed Vox is with everything Alastor does, who really has the final say?

Notes:

The thing wrote itself I am innocent waaaah

Work Text:

The triumphant television sinner sat on his luxurious couch. It faced a giant tank, where two massive sharks swam in perfect circles together. Normally he'd be sitting here alone in silence, or sometimes with the other Vees if they were all having a good night. But tonight he had a special guest.

“Don't keep me waiting, Alastor!” He called out. An impatient clicking noise as his claws tapped the side table. Itching to touch that beautiful, slender body. The deer demon walked through the door, ears tilted back and eyes dangerous. He wore loose and comfortable pants coupled with an oversized turtleneck. It wasn't the worst thing in the world…in fact it was rather cozy. But he simply didn't like how easily the other could access his form underneath. The claws clicked faster.

“I'm here.” Alastor growled.

“Yes, and you look perfect. Let me see you closer.” Vox’s opposite fingers begged him forward. A gesture that already made his skin crawl.

“No thank you. You can look.”

“Do you forget who owns you now?” a collar appeared at the Radio Demon's neck, and a long blue chain led to Vox’s hand. Getting shorter and shorter as he was pulled forward. All the way until Alastor stumbled over the side of the couch and fell to eye level with his soul owner. “I struck such a good deal for you, Bambi. And by God…I'd be a fool not to enjoy it at least a little bit. Sit on my lap.”

“I'm not going to–” A hard yank of the chain stopped the rebuttal. Vox patted his lap. There was no choice but to obey. Long deer legs straddled over near the knees. Making their bodies as far away as acceptably possible. Alastor cringed as he felt firm squeezes on his thighs. His head tilted up, looking down his nose at the disgusting man under him. Holding onto every ounce of pride left. “You're just like every other man…all you want is self gratification and shoving your dick into anything that catches your eye.”

That almost made Vox bust out in laughter. “What!? You don't know anything. Getting in your pants has never been my goal.” His hands gently rubbed and squeezed in an oddly comforting way. “The only thing I've ever wanted is to be the reason for your smile. To enable you to be your insane, unhinged, charming little self. I love it when you go wild. You're so fucking beautiful when you're all manic like that. And you're going to be that way for me tonight. Right here, right now.”

Fingers walked up the deer's sides, making him shiver hard under the touch and twistedly sentimental words. “Aww, what's wrong? Are you sensitive? I know exactly what’ll make you squirm.” Another tease from that stupid piece of technology.

“No you don't.”

“Oh, but I do.” Both sets of blue claws wiggled their way under the large sweater, lightly scribbling over the sensitive belly underneath. A teasingly slow pace with the most unsettling movements. Alastor drew in a sharp breath and held it as his widened eyes stared down. His expressive gaze communicated everything Vox wanted to know and more. Excitement. Fear. Small tinges of disgust. But also the willingness to find something good in this little arrangement. Maybe even change his opinion or enjoy himself for once, if he could get his pride out of the way.

Alastor's arms drew up to his chest, one hand pressed against closed lips. Doing everything he could to hide his growing smile and any noise that might threaten its way out. Then a claw began teasing circles around his navel. Starting in big motions, but ever slowly shrinking its path. His hands balled up into fists and stretched back out. Several times. That nervous energy had to go somewhere.

“What's the matter, buck? Are you trying not to show me how ticklish it is? I know this is your worst spot.” Vox's voice dropped into a low, almost sultry tone. Earning him a good shiver from the man in his lap. “I know how attentive your ears are. If I say the right words in just the right way, I can make your body do anything I want. Isn't that such a cute weakness for the great Radio Demon to have?”

An eye roll. “That's an overstatement.”

“Is it really?” Vox pressed his screen against those fuzzy red ears. “I know how graphic your mind is with what you hear. Listen to me very closely.”

“No!” Alastor playfully pulled back, taking hold of Vox's hands. “You cannot have your hands and your voice on me at once!”

A raised brow. “I only need one.” Vox twisted free and pulled Alastor into a hug. Using his arms to hold the deer's ear next to his speaker. Speaking softly, nearly in a smooth ASMR tone. “You're stuck like this. Poor little deer…it's just you and my voice. We're going to see just how colorful your old mind is…and I bet it would be even more crisp if that's all you could focus on.” He used one hand to grab an elastic blindfold and tug it comfortably over those sparkling red eyes.

“You're much too confident, dear Vox. But I suppose I'll entertain your ego.”

“You have no choice.” Vox's claw lightly traced around that skinny neck, reminding him of the spiritual collar. “You're mine. All mine, now. And you know what I love about that? I can play with you whenever, however, and wherever I want. And you pretend you don't like it, but I know you do. You tickle yourself all the time. It makes you feel good…happy…soft like a stuffed animal. You like being fuzzy and vulnerable.”

“Noho I dohohon't!” Alastor giggled out.

“Yes. You do.” Vox growled and squeezed, drawing out a small squeak. “You love that little butterfly feeling all over your body. You love letting loose with your laughter. Mhmmm yes you dooo~ And you love wiggling and losing control, not being judged while you disconnect from the world and go to your subspace.” A low sadistic chuckle. “And you're fucking precious when you do.” The bite in his voice made Alastor tense up with a static feedback sound. A hand scratched the base of his head, bristling against all the short hair.

“That’s a good boy. Now think about my claws still on your tender little belly. Going around and around in agonizing circles…” a pleasant buzz went through Vox as he felt Alastor flinch and let out a giggly whine. “That’s it. Good. And then my claw gets closer and closer to your giggle button. It feels like it’s taking forever. But before you know it, I’m scribbling the rim of it. Around and around…good boy…and my claw slowly slips into the center.”

Alastor was panting softly and jerked to the side, his tummy visibly trembling. Vox continued, hardly phased, “It still goes in circles. Tiny tiny circles. Scratching all those ticklish little nerves. And what will you do? Just sit there and take it, that’s what.” More whiny laughs as his body twitches in Vox’s arms. How much cuter could an old man get? “You just take it and take it…and you know what else I’ll do? Your thin neck will be covered in electric kisses–” A sudden jolt. “That’s right! And you’ll never forget where your shiny new collar belongs. I’ll nibble the line into your pale skin and make you squeal all the while. You won’t ever forget it. And every time I summon your collar, you’ll feel those tickly little bites all over again.”

“N-No, I-”

“Yes. You will.” a dangerous edge came to Vox’s voice. Possessive. Frightening. “You’re mine, and I’ll make sure you enjoy yourself. Everything that makes you uncomfortable will make you smile. Really smile. The collar, being out of control, the scars on your body…I want you to laugh at all of it. Doesn’t that sound nice?” he’d hardly realized how tightly he’d been holding onto the deer in his arms. The sound of popping bones reminded him to loosen up. To be gentle with the fawn. “Sorry, baby. I–” Vox’s apology drowned when Alastor nuzzled into his neck. Wordless. Willing. Not resisting or being a brat, as he often did when he disliked something. Maybe this could work out for them in a strange, dark way. Vox rubbed up and down Alastor’s back in a comforting manner. “How do you feel?”

A timid voice spoke. “Overwhelmed. Confused. But also…good? I’m not sure how to describe it.”

A blue claw caressed his cheek. “You don’t always have to understand how you feel. It’s okay.”

“I know, but there’s too many thoughts going through my head! I used to think we were friends, then I saw how similar you acted with Val and me. Then I thought I was a sex object. And now you’ve made it abundantly clear that I’m not. You only want me to smile, and…I don’t know! I’m confused and it’s too much!” As Alastor vented, his soul owner looked totally taken back. This wasn’t the kind of confession he expected to deal with tonight. His response came from a place of raw authenticity. Not something off a cue card or a practiced script.

Vox gently lifted the blindfold and took Alastor’s hands into his, leaning low to peer up into the other’s face. “Shh shh shh, look here. Look at me, buddy.”

“Don't look at me! I- I- This is terrible. This- I- We-” All attempts at saying something turned into incoherent babbling.

Vox’s eyes widened and his voice adopted a caring, heartfelt tone. “Buddy, buddy, buddy, no. Look here. Look at me. Or don’t, it doesn’t matter. You look beautiful. You hear me? You’re just as pretty like this as when you were giggling. No matter how you come, you’re beautiful to me. You got that?”

A small nod with deer ears pulled back. They squeezed each other’s hands tighter.

“Good. I know this is a lot for you, and…” Vox took a deep breath as his screen tilted toward the ceiling. It took a lot of effort to build his next words. “...and I haven’t treated you right. I had no idea that you felt…objectified…by me. And it’s my fault for not talking to you about it.”

Alastor blinked. Tilting his head in puzzlement. “Isn’t it obvious that you objectify me? You only speak of how I look or what I do as pleasing. You like to see me, but that doesn’t mean you see into me. If you knew how horrible I was, you wouldn’t love me as much as you think you do.”

“But I do!” Vox stuttered to search for words, trying to see this from the other’s perspective. “It’s like I said earlier! I love the way you go wild. You’re so…crazy and unapologetically yourself! I love listening to you ramble, watching you just…be you. It’s so wonderful to see!”

Sharp teeth bared back as red claws dug into blue hands. “There you go again! Listening to me…watching me…aren’t you just as dumb and two dimensional as the stupid head you built for yourself! It certainly matches the character!”

Suddenly Vox’s eyes lit up with realization. “Wait wait! I think I see the problem! Just…calm down. Calm down. We’re going to talk this through, okay?” his tone sounded sincere. The same tone that Alastor had found companionship in all those years ago. Despite the glowing blue blood leaking from Vox’s hands, he still makes an effort to gently hold Alastor’s palms. Unphased by the pain or the wounds. “I talked to Rosie as soon as I gained ownership of your soul. She taught me a few things about you, and I’m seeing how it’s all clicking together. I don’t just see you like a Saturday morning cartoon. I also see all the work that goes into the picture I see. Every pen line, all the storyboarding, the mistakes and crumpled papers, all the good and ugly work, the people who had a hand in creating you. And I appreciate all of it. Because if any of those things were missing, the picture I see wouldn’t be the same.”

Putting it in this visual metaphor, a retro frame that Alastor could understand, it felt like a bulb lit up inside his head. For the first time since their fallout, it felt like they were truly making a connection. Perhaps one even more clear than in the ‘good ole days’.

“You only know one kind of love. And it’s not a bad thing! It’s a beautiful thing!” Vox continued, feeling more invigorated as he saw the sparkle in those doe eyes, “Your kind of love is- is pure! And powerful! I’ve seen how you kill for the people who are lucky enough to earn it, and the deep connections you can build with it. It…I want that kind of connection with you, but I'm struggling to figure out where our wires cross.” Here, Vox took a deep breath. As if he didn’t know how to continue without walking on glass.

Alastor pulled Vox’s hands to his mouth and gingerly lapped the blood away until the flow stopped. “You don’t have to be afraid, Vox. I want the true you. I want what’s hidden behind the smile.” He said. As if by command, the digital grin dropped. Revealing the true, gritty expression underneath. This is what Alastor needed to see. A face that displayed years of carried guilt and shame for not having this pivotal conversation sooner. Way back when the problem was only a seed, and they could have killed it before it sprouted a wall between them. At least now they could use their actions to chop it down one hack at a time.

“The way I love you, and the way I love Val, are two different kinds of love. I know you don’t understand that, and I know I’ll probably do a shitty job at explaining it. The best way I can put it is that I love Val for his quirky personality, power, and body. He does some despicable stuff, but…don’t we all? He’s so sexy and- and charming. And even when we bicker, we know deep down that we can achieve our goals together.” That seemed to be the hard part, which had Vox sighing in relief. “And then there’s the love for you. It’s not about your body or being charmed. It’s about the emotional connection. I want to have something deep and meaningful. I want your companionship. And everything else I do stems out of that. Sure I’d love to do everything with you that I do with Val, but I don’t feel like I need it to be satisfied. I want you to be comfortable and happy, and we can get that through clear communication. Do you understand it that way?”

The gears in Alastor’s head were cranking and squealing. It took several moments for him to process it and nod his head. “Not fully, but I understand what I need to.” He pulls the blindfold down and wraps his arms around Vox’s neck. Snuggling his ear against those speakers once again. “I am glad you were able to express those feelings to me, but it will take more than a speech to mend the damage that has been done. My safe word is Lecter. And if I say it, it means you stop. Can I trust you to do that?”

“Oh! Of course!” Vox blinked as he tried taking in this sudden switch. He should have expected Alastor’s lack of interest in sappy emotions. “So, Lecter? As in- Hannibal Lecter?” he almost busted into sputtering laughs.

“It’s what Rosie and I agreed upon. You know my sense of humor.” Alastor makes sure to settle into a comfortable position and draw in a breath. “Now I’m giving you a chance to redeem yourself. This is your time to take us on a ride together, and I’m expecting us to come back with our boundaries and smiles unbroken. A fresh start for the both of us, hmm?”

Innocent blinks from Vox, then his eyes narrowed dangerously. His arms once again holding their prize possessively. “As you wish, your majesty. Trust us.”

“That’s the goal. Now, please. I’m waiting.”

“Impatient as ever, are we?” Vox’s voice dropped low again, now rattling with a unique sense of connection. Although Alastor gave in, it still felt like he was the one setting the rules. The one benefiting from this deal. And who was Vox to not entertain that? “If I recall correctly, we were talking about how much we’d both love it if I gave you buzzy kisses on your neck and scribbled in your giggle button?”

A strong flinch from the man in his arms. “Yes, that sounds right.”

“Wonderful. Now imagine my claws dragging up your sides. Treating you good, hitting all those pleasant little spots as they crawl up into your underarms.” As Vox explained, the deer's body tried to arch up. A lip bite stifled the giggles that wanted to come out. “And they're just going to stay there a while. Tickling under your pits, making passes over your side, chest, and upper arm. I'm not going to stop, you'll just have to take it as it comes.”

Alastor was already wiggling uncomfortably and whining softly. That earned a satisfied hum from Vox. “Does that make you want my actual claws on you?”

“Mhmm…”

“So polite. It's nice to see you finally acting like the right animal. Like the soft, vulnerable little fawn you are. Yeah?”

“I'm not soft and vulnerable. I'm the one giving you this extra chance. Be grateful.” Alastor bit back as he fought for his pride.

A hand went up to scratch behind a deer ear, making that defiance melt back into soft whimpers. “There's one more little place I know you love that we can't forget…it's hard for my hands to get to, but my voice can reach everything. Don't you feel lucky to have this adorable little voice kink?”

Alastor wheezed and snorted. “There you go making it sound sexual again!”

“But it made you laugh, didn’t it? And what else would you want me to call it?”

“Me and Rosie call it a roozy.”

“A roozy?”

“That’s what we call things that you get pleasure from. Nonsexually, of course.” Alastor’s voice held a slight tone of warning.

That earned a low chuckle from Vox. “So you’re admitting that listening to my voice gives you nice little happy tingle?” A pitiful, shaky whine came from the deer, “That’s so cute! Now back to that spot I was thinking about earlier? Do you know where it is? I think you do. The little fuzzy patch on your hooves? Right between the hoof and the dew claws? Oh, that spot drives you insane.”

An audible gasp came from Alastor. “No, it does not.”

“Yes, it does.” Vox circles a single claw on the back of Alastor’s shoulder so he could feel the sharp point of it. Reminding him of a knife. “And you’re going to think about me scraping my claws in circles on it, just like this. All those little nerves you keep protected will be scratched just right. Sending you into a–” A sudden laughing whine interrupted him. His screen displayed a warm smile. “–a tickle fit. That spot is so small and insignificant. But your body just had to be wired up in the cutest way possible…where that one spot can make you fall apart. It feels so good, huh? Is it another roozy of yours?”

A sudden noise, something between a whine, a giggle, and a moan, slipped out of Alastor. It sounded so pure. Shaky. Adorable. Just hearing it made Vox’s fans kick on. It took a moment for him to find his voice again. “Just think– If this is how badly my words affect you, what would it be like if my claws were actually on that spot? Those agonizing circles into the soft skin driving you slowly crazy. And you can’t do anything about it. You have to take all the tickle tickle tickles~”

Alastor’s breath hitched as he squirmed and panted in Vox’s arms. Just thinking about that was making him come undone. Exactly what his soul owner wanted to see. “Looking at how aroused you are, I think you’re nice and ready for the real Hell to begin.”

Vox grabbed him by the arms and placed his hands on the walls. A panel opened, two round mechanical restraints came out. Their padded inside squeezed perfectly to the size of Alastor’s slender arms and jerked him forward. His arms locked halfway in the wall over Vox’s shoulders, putting their heads inches apart. They could feel the heat of each other’s face. Their bodies almost perfectly pressed together, making it so that Vox could feel every little buck and twitch.

“What is this?” Alastor turned his head as if he could somehow peek through the blindfold. This had his captor chuckling with adoration.

“They’re restraint systems we installed for fun nights like tonight. They fit perfectly to your body and won't let you go. I hope you’re comfortable, because you’re going to be stuck in my lap like this for a while.” Vox’s hands lightly rubbed from the restraint, following down the arms draped over his shoulders. “And with you being in your oversized sweater, I can reach anywhere I want to. Your body is fully exposed to me and there’s nothing you can do about it.” His hands began weaseling under the shirt as if to prove his point. Rubbing his fingers into the soft furry body. Starting at the waist line and slowly crawling their way up.

At some point Alastor bit his lip and jerked back on the robotic cuffs. Vox’s intruding touch was only a few inches below his arm pit. “What’s wrong, fawn? Are you sensitive here?”

“Of course not.”

“I think you are. You just want to be a brat about it, don’t you? You have to make it seem like you’re big stuff, but you’re not. You’re just a little old guy that wants to be tickled out of his mind.”

“Fake news!” Alastor teased.

Vox snorted at the joking insult. Spidering touch crawled around the spot. Up the arms, down the sides, anywhere except right in the pit. Alastor tried to hide the little jolts and lip bites as the touch passed around the spot. A feat that became harder and harder as the anticipation built.

“Surely you aren't going to make me wait all night. Hurry up! You want to hear my laugh, don't you?” An invitation from the lee. Impatience. A last ditch effort to seem like he had any ounce of power or prestige left.

An eyebrow raised in intrigue. “So you admit it'll make you laugh if I do this?” Vox couldn't help but play along. He tickled right on the spot, making Alastor break out into a fit of laughter. The deer bucked and pulled, getting more desperate as he realized just how stuck and helpless he was. The handcuffs gave him no space to break away, leaving his ler able to feel the brunt of his fighting. Reactions that only got more intense as reality set in.

His soul belonged to Vox. His body was captured by the TV Demon, too. Overwhelming sensations rocked his body and there was nothing he could do to make it stop. He was powerless. Helpless. That was terrifying. Nobody was coming to save him. That made it worse. Unbearable. Surely fighting harder and giving his all would amount to something at some point. It didn't. His laughs became hysterical howls as his head swung back and his body moved without his control. As thrilling as it was, it didn't overwrite the pure fear going through his head.

“VAHAHOX! STAHOP! LECTER! LEHECTERRR!”

The beg rang true. Full of horror and desperation. But to his shock, Vox listened. Stopping his attack to hug that furry body and squeeze it closer. “What's the matter, sweetheart? You okay?”

“You stopped? You stopped? You stopped?” Alastor's voice sounded like a broken record as he processed what was going on. A gentle touch rested on his cheek and caressed the soft pale skin.

“Of course I did. I care about my doll, and I said I’d respect your safe word, didn’t I?” Glass pressed against his face, warmth concentrated into a single spot. That was one of Vox's weird kisses that Alastor was familiar with. Even so, his body trembled with anxiety. “Look at you…like a little startled animal. Did you get shaken a bit, baby? Have you finally realized that your pride is a thing of the past?”

Words tried to form, but intense flusteredness locked his voice away.

“You can speak up, sweetheart.”

Somehow that made it worse. Alastor's mind buzzed and face flushed red as he tried to think of words. Let alone say them. They were only thoughts stuck inside his head. Until the tickly touches inched toward his underarms again, sending him into a babbling mess.

“I don't know! I don't- I dont-”

Vox interrupted him firmly. “Your. Pride. Is. In. The. Past. Be grateful that I respect you. Do you understand me?”

The smallest and most submissive “...yes.” answered back.

Vox's eyes blinked in surprise. “Say that louder for me, please.”

Another episode of flustered silence. Vox tried to be patient, fidgeting with that little deer tail and resting the free hand on the other's hip. Giving him time to recollect himself. They had all the time in Hell and they both knew that.

“Yes.” Alastor finally said a bit more firmly. His strength coming back. “But that doesn't mean I'm out of control.”

This seemed to pique the TV headed sinner's curiosity. “How so? We both know I've got the final say. You're just lying to yourself to–”

“I'm not lying at all!” Alastor laughed in Vox's screen, sounding like a few screws were coming loose in his head, “Can't you see it? You're so obsessed with me that you'll do anything I ask! You'll give me anything in the 9 circles if I ask for it, won't you?”

Now it was Vox's turn to stutter. He couldn't exactly deny the question

“You love me! So blindly and sickeningly so! It's comedy! Entertainment! Pure and unadulterated!” Alastor broke out into hysterical laughter without the aid of any tickles or jokes. Creating the entire show on his own. Vox would be lying if he said he wasn't at least a bit concerned. Unsettled, even. But it was beautiful. Everything about Alastor was beautiful. His twisted mind. His mysterious inner-workings. His laughs, reactions, and insanity. And all of it belonged to him on a shining blue chain.

“You're absolutely right. I do love you. And I would give you anything you asked for.” Vox played along as he tugged at the collar manifested around the other's neck. “Perhaps you're the one who has me on a chain, sweetheart. But who's to say I don't like that? Huh? You're my little princess I have to spoil or I'll die. And what better way to spoil you than to make you laugh your pretty head off? You love laughing at me, don't you? So let loose. Laugh. Laugh. Laugh until you pass out. How does that sound?”

Alastor’s smile tugged up past his eyes in a sinister shape. “I rather like when you put it that way.”

“I knew you would!” Vox's hands went to Alastor's lower back and began digging into the skin. Stopping every few inches to vibrate into the next spot as they worked up either side of his spine. Making his body try to curl back and his laugher rise with each spot. “Laugh at me! C’mon! Let all of Hell hear you!”

And he obeyed. Launching further into hysterics with each spot. Until Vox reached his shoulder blades, sending him off into a whole new level of tickle Hell. “THAT'S BAD! THAT'S BAHAHAAAD!”

“It's bad? Aww, well you're gonna take it anyways! Just laugh at me and you'll be fine!”

Again, Alastor obeyed. Letting loose right in Vox's screen. Giving him a front row seat to that sharp toothed smile full of overstimulated joy. That laugh peaking his mic. Knowing this was all happening by his own hands. He added in some electric sparks on his fingers just for added spice. The writhing reached a new high.

The tickles drilled around the shoulder blades, and up on the space between the shoulders and neck. Then back down and closer to the sides. Exploring every inch of that wonderfully exposed ticklish back. Until Alastor began breathing heavily and showing signs of fatigue. Even then, he forced himself to laugh and fight. Pushing past his limit and into the realm of pure exhaustion.

“Do you want a break, baby?” Vox asked.

“I'm fihihine! I hahaven’t sahafewordehed agahain yet!” Alastor insisted. Even though his voice sounded hoarse. Dry. He tried to keep laughing in Vox's face, but it sounded weak. Whiny. Breathless. It wanted to be laughter but couldn't form anything past the first syllable or two.

Vox slowed down into very light scratches. Going around the entire back to ease the intense sensations away. His victim's laughter turned into sighs and soft whines. A cracking voice. Weak and small.

“There, there. You did so good laughing for me. I bet your lungs hurt after all that. Your body too.”

“Mhm.”

Vox sent light shocks through his fingers as he spidered up Alastor's spine. Making his whines louder as his body shivered hard under the touch. He completely melted against Vox once he finished the entire length of his back. The whines muffled into Vox's neck on the tickly journey back down to his hips.

“Are you nice and relaxed now?”

“Mhm.”

“Do you want more tickles?”

Alastor immediately began kissing Vox's neck and whining as if it were some form of submissive peace offering. Not even having the heart to say any words.

“Okay! Okay I get it!” Vox giggled as he allowed the wall cuffs to let loose. Once Alastor's arms gripped like steel around his shoulders, the contraption went back into the wall.

The world invaded Alastor’s eyes as his blindfold was removed, but he immediately whined and closed them like iron doors. Preferring the dark to the influx of sights around him. He could focus on the feelings that way, like how his body moved when Vox stood up. How the other's hands grabbed around his thighs to keep him from falling down.

He could feel Vox walking. Hear doors opening and automated machines doing something. Water pouring into glass. His eyes were still shut as he felt his body press against something soft. The bed. Then something cold on his lips. The glass. The glass gently tipped up, refreshing cold water soothed down his throat that had been roughed up with laughter and howling. It was embarrassing. It was liberating.

“The lights off, sweetheart.”

Alastor opened his eyes and could tell almost no difference. Except that Vox's screen was on dark mode, making his face look like a Cheshire cat floating in the room. Until it settled down right in front of him. A blanket tugged over their bodies. A familiar clawed hand walked underneath his sweater to once again feel his furry warm body.

They crept to his back, forcing out an instinctive squeal and full-body jolt. “Shh, shh. It's okay. I'm done tickling you for tonight. I just want to hold you.” Vox's reassurance calmed him down. He had no choice but to trust him. It felt oddly peaceful as he was pulled closer to the other. Warm. Soft rubs bringing all the nerves into a relaxed peace. As much as he didn't like his space invaded, this felt somehow acceptable. Or perhaps he felt like he had no other choice and already taught himself to like it. Too many thoughts. Too much energy that he didn't have. It was time to rest.
