Work Text:

A kiss on the hand. Such a simple gesture yet it meant so much to Peasley. He was tearing up as Luigi slipped on his ring and brought it to his lips to give it a loving kiss. A gesture so special to them yet so meaningful.

It started when they first met.

“A yellow rose! Matches your green perfectly,” Peasley complimented as he tossed the rose to Luigi who clumsily caught it.

He blushed heavily at the flower then looked to Peasley who looked rather proud to have swooned a newcomer. What he didn’t expect was he was about to start swooning too, “Uh-! T-thank you!” Luigi stammered nervously. Without thinking he reached out and pulled the prince’s hand up for a kiss.

Peasley stared in utter shock. No one had ever- he wasn’t- That- His face felt like it was on fire as he snatched his hand away, holding it close to his chest, “Yes! You’re uh- you’re very welcome! I must take my leave now!” And with the swish of his cape he flew off on his bean.

It happened again after their first date.

They had explored Peasley's favorite area in the woods before having a picnic. As the date wrapped up they were now headed back to Luigi’s house for Peasley to drop him off, ever the gentlemen. They held hands as they walked and when they got up to the front door Luigi turned and smiled at the Prince, “I had a lot of fun today…thank you,” he admitted sheepishly, blushing heavily. He looked like he was beginning to lean in for a kiss before he stopped himself. Pealsey noticed and was about to take charge until Luigi quickly brought his hand up to kiss it before scurrying inside with a rushed “Goodbye.”

Peasley couldn’t help but blush heavily, the phantom feeling of the mans mustache tickling his hand as the feeling of the kiss lingered and made his heart flutter rapidly his whole walk home.

Then when Luigi proposed.

It had been a perfect day, a nice home cooked dinner, a few episodes of their favorite show and to end the night they were going for a short walk as they always did. Luigi led him down a path they had never gone before, the usual scaredy-cat seeming so bold, “Where are we going?” Peasley asked with a curious smile.

Luigi squeezed his hand, “You’ll see,” he sounded so excited which made Peasley even more excited. As they finally made it to the top and pushed past the rest of the bush they were met with the most gorgeous view of the sunset. It casted a mesmerizing pink and orange gradient that made Peasley’s eyes sparkle. The prince was so caught up in the beauty of the sunset he almost didn’t notice Luigi get down on one knee and present a ring to him. Peasley gasped tears welling up in his eyes. Before Luigi could finish his speech about how he loved the prince more than anything and wanted to spend the rest of his life with him Peasley declared a yes and threw himself into his soon to be husband’s arms. The ring fit perfectly, Peasley stared at it lovingly and smiled wide as Luigi took both his hands to kiss them, giving Peasley the most lovesick smile.

All the little times too, whenever either of them were happy or sad, if Peasley hurt his hand, whenever they held hands. A constant reminder of Luigi’s love and that it was so Luigi.

And now here. The happiest day of their lives.

A kiss on the hand. Such a simple gesture but it meant everything to Peasley.
