Work Text:
Felicity Smoak woke up with her back aching. Trying to get comfortable she scooted down in the bed, and when that didn’t work she slowly turned over and cuddled up against her boyfriend, Oliver Queen, who was still asleep. When she still couldn’t get comfortable with her thirty-seven-week pregnant belly in the way she sighed in frustration and rolled over onto her back and stared at the ceiling.
Her movements have woken him up, Oliver turned towards her and looked at her. “Can’t get comfortable?” He asked, his voice low and raspy from sleep.
“No,” she pouted. “Is it wrong to wish he would hurry up and get here so that way I can finally sleep comfortably and not have to get up to pee every hour?”
Oliver placed his hand on her swollen belly. “No, it’s not wrong at all. I’m ready to meet the little guy too.” He had a soft smile on his face as he gently ran his hand over Felicity’s stomach.
“But he can’t come out nameless,” Felicity stated pushing up on the headboard until she was reclined against the pillows that were propped against it. “Well not nameless, but not with a name that we’ve given him.”
“What Pees-in-pants wasn’t good enough for you?” Oliver asked dryly. Their six-year-old daughter, Olivia, had suggested that name the night before as they were getting her ready for bed.
“We are not letting Livy name the baby.” Felicity said firmly as she rolled her eyes at the suggestion.
Oliver sat up and grabbed the notebook from the nightstand for the list of names that they had already gone through to try to find the perfect name for their son. Felicity slipped on her glasses and picked up her tablet where she had her list.
“Nathan, Jacob, Evan, Dalton, Hudson, and Riley are all on the no list, correct?” Felicity asked peering at her tablet.
“Just like Avery, Zane, Logan, Eli, Isaac, and Patrick.” Oliver replied.
“Ugh,” Felicity groaned. “Are we ever going to find something that we both like? I swear it wasn’t this hard finding Livy’s name.”
Oliver gave his girlfriend a placid look, “Should I go back to Lian-Yu to make it easier on you?”
Felicity’s hand shot out and she gripped the top of his thigh, “Don’t you even joke about that! The last time I had to shove your baby out of my vagina, it happened without any pain meds AND your mom was the only one in the delivery room with me. This time mister, you will be there holding my hand and listening to me swear that I’ll never let you touch me again.”
Lacing their hands together he brought her hand to his lips placing a soft kiss on it. Hiding a smile, he said, “I wouldn’t dare hide out on Lian-Yu. You might do something crazy and jump out of a perfectly good airplane to drag my butt back to Starling.”
“You’re damn right I would!” Felicity said, nodding empathically, “With Diggle along to help, of course.” She sighed, propping her tablet on her stomach and rubbed her belly with her other hand, looking down at it she told her stomach, “All right mister, it’s almost go-time if you don’t let us know your name soon then I’m going to let your sister name you.” Oliver got a small smile at his girlfriend’s antics. “You might be named Rocky or Chase then.”
“Or Mickey Mouse.” Oliver added referencing two of his daughter’s favorite shows, Paw Patrol and Micky Mouse Clubhouse. Then with a teasing look at Felicity, “Or Bones or Booth.”
“Hey!” Felicity complained letting go of his hand, “Bones is a perfectly good show. We could name him Seeley, or…”
A knock sounded from the door interrupting Felicity’s rant, “Make sure everything’s covered up, I’m coming in.” Thea Queen, Oliver’s sister’s voice came from the door.
Felicity quickly looked down, making sure that her boobs hadn’t fallen out of her nightgown, which since her chest had gotten larger and she tended to toss and turn while she slept, had happened more than once. Once she was sure that she was decent she looked over at Oliver who hadn’t moved, he was shirtless, but the covers were over his lower parts, and she couldn’t remember if he had gone to bed last night with shorts on or not. “Come in!” She called to Thea.
Thea opened the door with one hand and held a tray in her other, “Your child asked me to bring you breakfast in bed.” The night before Thea had told the couple that she wanted to spend some quality time with her niece in the morning and that they could sleep in.
Because she was so close to her due date, Oliver had banned Felicity from spending hours at the Lair and he was trying to make sure to come home no later than midnight as he didn’t want to miss anything this time around. Thea sat the tray down on the desk and then grabbed the lap trays that Felicity kept in the room and set up the plates for her brother and Felicity. On the plates were scrambled eggs, waffles, some strawberries that it looked like Livy had taken a few bites of, and bacon. Once the plates were in front of them Felicity hungrily dug in, growing another human was a lot of hard work.
Thea rummaged around in the mini-fridge that Felicity had recently installed for convenience so she wouldn’t have to make her way down to the kitchen if she wanted a cold drink after she had gone to bed, and gave them the two orange juice boxes that Livy had placed in there for her. Spying Oliver’s book Thea took it from him and flopped down at the bottom of the bed. “Still trying to figure out his name?” She questioned as she flipped through the pages.
Oliver sighed, “We can’t seem to find one that we both like.”
“Have you thought about naming him after Dad?” Thea asked, setting the book down.
“I had suggested it, in fact it was the first name I suggested.” Felicity said as she rubbed Oliver’s arm.
“I can’t…” Oliver said softly, shaking his head and the pain evident in his voice.
Thea nodded in understanding, she paused and thought a moment, “So what about Smoak? You know how Southerners like to name their babies after the mother’s maiden name?”
“First off, it’s still my last name, and if your brother ever does ask me to marry him.” Her eyes got big, and she quickly turned to him, “This is not me hinting at you to ask me to marry you. I don’t care if we ever get married.” Oliver chuckled, as she turned back to Thea, “I don’t know if I would go by Queen, or hyphenate, or just keep Smoak. Not to mention that Smoak Queen just sounds like a cigarette shop or a stripper name and there is no way that we are giving my son a stripper name. And the so-called reporters would have a field day making fun of him, not to mention the teasing he’d get at school. So, no.”
Thea laughed, “Noted, no stripper names for my nephew.” She thought for a few minutes, “You could always steal some of our friend’s names. There’s Roy William Harper Jr., John Wayne Diggle, Thomas Edward Merlyn, do any of those sound promising?”
“Daddy!” Came a shout from down the hall.
“I told her she had to pick out her clothes for the day and get dressed.” Thea said.
“Daddy!” Livy called again.
With a sigh Oliver handed his tray to Thea. “You might want to close your eyes,” He said before flipping the blanket off of him and getting out of bed.
“That’s so gross, Ollie!” Thea exclaimed, her eyes scrunched closed.
“It’s my room I can sleep however Felicity wants me to.” Oliver answered with a smirk. He pulled some pants on and ambled out the door calling. “Coming Liv!”
Thea set Oliver’s leftover tray on a table before she flopped back down beside Felicity. “I’m sorry my brother’s so yucky sometimes.”
Felicity laughed, “But you have to admit that sometimes he’s pretty awesome too.”
“Maybe, but don’t tell him I said that.”
Felicity pantomimed zipping her mouth. “He gives the best…”
Thea held out a hand stopping Felicity from finishing her sentence. “I don’t need to hear what all my brother’s good at giving. There’s just some things a sister doesn’t need to know.”
“Back-rubs and foot rubs!” Felicity exclaimed. “What did you think I was going to say?”
“Orgasms,” Thea grinned.
“Oh, well yeah, those too.” Felicity replied, mischief glimmering in her eyes.
Noticing that Thea had been staring at her baby bump Felicity rubbed it and asked, “Have you been thinking of getting one of these for yourself?”
Thea shrugged, “I want kids, but at first Roy was a bit hesitant. You know with his family and all.” It was no secret to anyone in the Queen family that Roy’s family were a bunch of criminals and addicts and that he had risen above his upbringing.
“But…” Felicity prompted knowing there was more to the story.
“We’ve been trying for a few months now, but no luck.” Thea shrugged and looked away.
“Sweetie, you’re only 19.” Felicity reassured Thea. “Give it time and don’t rush. It will happen when you least expect it.”
“Yeah, I’m older than you were when you had Livy. And according to everything that you see, us teenagers are supposed to get pregnant just by looking at each other in the wrong way.” Thea said with a roll of the eyes.
“I wouldn’t worry about it quite yet, Roy looks at you the ‘wrong’ way all the time.” She motioned with her hands, “All the time!”
Thea burst out laughing as Oliver walked in the door with Olivia dangling from one arm. He set his little girl down on the floor and she scrambled up onto the bed. “Mommy, did you like breaktus? I tried all the strawberries so that you only had the good ones.”
Felicity smiled down at her daughter, “They were perfect sweetie. So, what are you and Aunt Thea doing today?”
“She said she wouldn’t take me to get ice cream first thing, but we can go to the park!” Olivia’s said as her little lip pouted a bit at the mention of the ice cream but then she broke into a wide grin as she excitedly talked about the park.
“Come on Livs, let’s let the old people get their rest, your baby brother will keep them on the go once he gets here.” Thea stood up and gestured for her niece to jump onto her back and out the door they went.
Oliver slipped back into bed next to Felicity and slid his hand over the baby bump, “Did baby boy let you know what his name will be?”
Leaning over to kiss her boyfriend Felicity smiled, “I think the perfect name came to me when I was talking to Thea.”
“Let’s hear it.”
***ARROW***
Felicity went into labor on Tuesday night the next week and they welcomed their baby boy at three in the morning on October the fifteenth. Besides the moms, Tommy, Laurel, Thea, and Roy were the first ones to see the baby. When the group walked in with Thea holding a massive bouquet of balloons and Tommy a giant stuffed bear Oliver was standing beside a smiling Felicity and holding the baby.
After they had awed over the baby for a few seconds Thea asked the question on everybody’s mind. “So, what did you two decide to name my nephew?”
“I’d like to present to you,” Oliver paused dramatically, until Felicity poked him in the side and then with a wide smile he continued, “William Thomas Queen.”
Tommy was standing there speechless, while Roy squeezed Thea’s hand tightly. “Really?” He asked tightly.
“Really,” Felicity answered, “We thought his uncles wouldn’t mind sharing their names with him.
“I’m honored.” Roy said thickly, a tear making its way down his cheek.
“Tommy Jr.’s going to get everything he asks Uncle Tommy for!” Tommy said around a huge grin.
“No ponies!” Everybody said at the same time.
Tommy threw up his hands. “Geez, I try to buy a pony once and now you constantly hold it against me.”
Thea squeezed Roy’s hand and looked at him questioningly and he nodded in return. “Since we are in the sharing mood.” Thea said and then took a deep breath. “You guys are going to be aunts and uncles in a few months. I’m pregnant!”
