How could a simple prank be so endearing?
It started out in the first week of class 2A when they were designing their hero costumes. Most of the class retained their most recent design from last year with minor changes to it for functionality, aesthetic, and durability.
Tenya announced to the class, "Class, please submit your designs to me before lunch"
Katsuki only had minor changes so he finished quickly. He politely (meaning to say he didn't grumble more than usual) asked Denki to pass his paper unto Tenya.
Izuku on the other hand had been planning his hero costume since the start of summer break. He finished early too so he also asked Denki to pass it to Tenya.
Denki had a stupid idea to secretly change the design of both Izuku and Katsuki. He decided to make them have a matching set.
He saw Izuku and Katsuki's relationship to be that of rivals. Their rivalry would have been twice as funny if they had matching hero costumes.
He kept the overall outline of both costumes but changed the accent color. Izuku's costume was predominantly green with orange accents while Katsuki's was black, orange and a bit of green.
It was safe to say that they were wearing eachother's signature color.
When everyone got their costumes, Izuku and Katsuki were stupefied.
They both had eachother's signature color as accents. Their most distinct feature that came from the matching set is the twinning turtleneck with eachother's color on its hem.
Izuku didn't mind it since it did not interfere with its functionality but Katsuki was a whole different story. He turned red from ears to cheeks. It was either from anger or from a different reaction. No one could tell either way.
Alone, each costume looked well made, but when put side by side, it was clearly from a matching set.
They had no choice but to wear it out during class excursions that required going out of school grounds. Everytime someone albeit a suporter, a student, or even a fellow pro-hero would question it, Katsuki felt the need to bring up that story.
He eventually gave up trying to tell it to everyone who questioned and had to force himself to accept it.
Even after it was redesigned, it was still an ongoing inside joke within the class. It took a while before the joke settled down.
