Chapter Text
It had been a long day for J, as per usual she was bossing N around (more-so just being rude to him as he failed to kill worker drones). At least V was pretty efficient at killing worker drones, which helped outweigh where N struggled, and J couldn't help but feel something towards her. What was it exactly? She was unsure.
Once they finished hunting, they all returned to the spire, N going his own way for whatever reason, neither of them bothered (or cared) to ask, while V and J went inside the pod together.
As J was alone with V, she felt her core warming up as a blush appeared on her visor, glancing towards her co-worker, V, as she sat in a chair and blowing bubbles. Thoughts of V ran through her mind. She always looked so attractive, "Have I always felt this way about her?" She thought to herself, her thoughts interrupted suddenly as V looked over at her, causing her to look away.
"Are you okay, J?" She asked, taking slight notice of what looked like J blushing.
"Y-yeah, never been better." J's usual attitude seemed to be gone, which didn't help hide the fact that something must be going on.
"You sure..? You seem... off, as if something is driving you crazy." Little did V know that she was pretty much spot on.
"Nope, I'm perfectly fine." Should she really be denying this? Maybe she should talk to V and tell her the truth.
She thought to herself for a moment before making her choice, "Actually..." V seemed to perk up as she heard J speak again, getting up from her chair. "I want to talk to you about something."
"What is it?" V slowly approached J, not getting too close to her, but stopping just a few feet away, it was rare for J to talk to her like this, so she had her full attention.
J was nervous to open up to someone like this. She felt like her core might just explode.
J looked back at V, noticing that she was closer now. "Even though this might not be too professional for a squad leader such as myself. V, I think... I love you." As J said that, V blushed, not expecting to hear words like that from someone like J who was always so closed off and focused on the job.
The two of them stood in silence for what felt like an eternity until V suddenly grabbed J and pulled her into a tight hug.
"I love you too." Was all V managed to get out as they embraced each other, their visors both showing their blushing and even some digital tears of what could only be joy.
They hugged for so long, both of them refusing to let go. They wished they could stay like this forever, just the two of them, together in each other's arms.
V had always had feelings for J, even back at the manor, but J was always so... closed off emotionally that V never had the chance to confess, all she could've done was wait and see if maybe, one day, J would feel the same, and it seemed like today was finally that day.
After a moment, they both pulled away from the hug, simply staring at each other's teary eyes, blushing like crazy. V had never seen J like this before. She was kind of cute, actually. Neither V nor J knew what to say to the other, their cores racing.
It took the girls a moment to come back to their senses, still lost in each other until V spoke up. "So, J, what now? Are we... girlfriends?" Despite how long V has had feelings for J, she was unsure what this all meant between the two of them.
J suddenly replied, interrupting V's thoughts. "Yes, we are. Luckily for you, we've hit quota for this quarter, which means, outside of needing oil for ourselves, we don't need to hunt as much. Thanks to your efficiency." V seemed overjoyed at her words, mainly the compliment on her efficiency, but overjoyed nonetheless.
The two, now girlfriends, spent the rest of the day together, occasionally killing any worker drones they spotted and sharing the oil, returning to the pod before the sun came up and sleeping together. V slept on top of J, her head rested on her chest as J was the taller one out of the two of them.
