Chapter Text
Martyn
I was done. Done with these mind games, with being nothing more than a puppet. I wanted to escape.
Rat's SMP was a place where I could escape, where I could be with friends and have fun. But even then they were watching my every move, making sure I didn't step out of line. This was the life I lived.
I breathed a sigh, glancing out from under the cupboard I hid under. No one else was in sight thankfully. I didn't want to deal with anyone else right now. I suddenly felt a voice whisper in my mind.
Come to us. We must discuss something.
I rolled my eyes in irritation. I figured I was about to get reprimanded. The Watchers hadn't wanted me to remove Ren's memories, I doubted they were pleased. I concentrated, my brow furrowing. The portal opened in front of me, shimmering a bright purple. I hesitated briefly before stepping into it, nerves filling me.
I entered into the purple-black void. Two tall figures stepped out of the mist, their lips pursed in a cruel frown.
"Inthelittlewood" the taller greeted me, "we have much to discuss".
"Just get on with it" I spat, "I'm sick of you".
"Watch your tone, Listener" the other hissed, "it won't end well for you if you keep that up". I rolled my eyes. As if I cared anymore.
"You went behind our back" they continued, "we told you to revive him, not remove his memories".
"I did what was best for him" I shot back, "I refuse to work for you anymore".
"You don't get a choice" the other laughed, "we may have lost the battle but we will win the war".
"I won't let you" I said firmly, "I can't let you do this".
"You will have the chance to redeem yourself soon" they continued, ignoring me, "win the next life series and you might actually be useful".
"I tried the last three times" I snarled, "I'm not good enough, go find someone else. Scott technically won twice, choose him".
"No, you will be good enough" they frowned, "we will keep changing the rules until you win".
I clenched my fist, my eyes narrowing. There was really nothing I could do to stop them, except refuse to win. But when I became a red life it was hard to fight it. The urge for blood becomes so strong.
"Now listen, we must decide what to do next" they told me, "Rendog may have failed the first time but I'm sure he will come in use again".
"He doesn't remember anything, he's no use to you" I pleaded, "please just leave him be".
"Now they are back on the Hermitcraft server things will be easier" they ignored my plea, "we will have less... unexpected events occur".
"We can make use of the Empires members" they smirked, "when they are ours all will be at peace".
"No, I can't let you" I growled, "you can't use me if I leave".
"Leave?" I could've sworn I saw panic flit through them, "you can't leave, you have no where to go".
"Be grateful we even let you join the Rat's SMP" they snarled, "had we had our way you'd stay here with us for the rest of time".
"I'm done" I said scathingly, "and I'm never coming back".
"Martyn wait-" I didn't listen, I turned away and walked back through the portal. Anger and fear flooded through me as I left.
Only when I was on the other side did I realise that was the first time they'd ever called me Martyn.

I placed the quickly scribbled note on the table of my bar. I didn't want to leave without telling anyone. I didn't want to make the others worry. I quickly scanned it again, making sure it made sense.
To whoever finds this.
I'm leaving, I'm not sure when I'll be back. I can't explain why just yet. Please just look after the bar and don't let Tubbo inside.
Sincerely, Martyn.
I gave a nod of satisfaction. It would work.
I sighed and turned around. It was time. I was no use to my friends here. I had to find them. I concentrated and watched the portal open before me. I stepped in and was met with the void once again. This time though I was alone, a corridor filled with sparkling portals surrounded me.
I was not an admin, I couldn't quite do the things they did. But I was a Listener, and held some power over everyone else. For example Admins did not have the power to bring back the dead, whereas I could. I sighed in frustration. I could only do it once, meaning I must tread carefully. If Ren died again he was gone forever.
I began to walk down the corridor. The portals all led to different servers, as I walked I glanced into a few of them. In one I saw a deepslate castle on a snowy mountain, another I saw a cottage in a valley. These were ones that were open and anyone could enter them. However they were no use to me. Hermitcraft was protected, meaning it would be much more difficult to enter.
It felt like I'd been walking forever when an intersection appeared. One side continued the same, the other the portals were dark, and you couldn't see into them.
I realised I had a dilemma. How was I to figure out which one led to Hermitcraft? I studied them, looking for clues. I realised at the top all of them had a picture of a person at the top. I figured they must be the admins of whatever servers they were.
I began to walk, watching closely. I passed one with a blonde man with a smile mask, another of a green goblin looking man who looked oddly familiar. I kept walking past them. I'd only met Xisuma once so my memory of what he looked like was a little foggy.
I suddenly stopped, spying a portal that had a man with a helmet and a green suit. This had to be it.
Sorry for this Xisuma, I winced with guilt. I was probably going to give them the fright of their lives. To enter a protected server required me to directly attack its code. I placed my hand on the portal. It was solid, but that could be fixed. I knew Xisuma would probably fight against the unknown attacker, but I had to do this. I let out a breath. I had to.
Otherwise they'd be completely fucked.
