I Just Wanted a Lay In

Summary:

Just a collection of short slice of life moments that fallow Laura and her chaotic black cat energy mini-wyvern Pretzel.

Work Text:

Laura woke to the sound of her bedroom door being rattled and the light warbling of Pretzel frustrated at the delay of their morning meal. The alarm had gone off no more than five minutes ago but apparently that was five minutes too long. The miniature wyvern was not enjoying the delay, not one bit. She could only imagine the additional scratch marks under and on the door and how “delighted” her landlord would be with them.

“Alright you impatient worm with wings, I’m up.” Laura grumbled, slowly peeling herself from her nest of blankets. “Little menace not wanting me to enjoy a lay in on my day off.” She grumbles trudging to her bedroom door, tripping over haphazardly tossed shoes and clothes.

With a single swift motion, the bedroom gets yanked open, and Laura is already sleepily glaring at the wyvern. She is rolled over on her back and playfully snapping her jaws near Laura’s sockless feet. “Ya ya act all cute now that the door is open.” walking forward Laura slides Pretzel out of the way with her foot and makes her way to the small kitchen. Pretzel lays flopped on her back watching carefully that her human is heading to the place of food before rolling over and scampering into flight. Starting up her warbling song as she lands on her cat post turned nesting area.

While softly humming to herself Laura reaches into the fridge for some sausages, eggs and broccoli. “Just one day, that is all I am asking of you. One day out of the week to just leave me to be one with my mattress. I promise that we will head out for flying in the park if you can just, please, PLEASE, let me sleep in.” Laura pleaded while she pulled a pan from a lower cabinet and started to cook breakfast.
At the mention of park Pretzel’s head perked up and her hind legs began to stomp lightly, tail flicking about in building energy. The little wyvern enjoyed the park, specifically terrorizing the local pigeons in her play. Yes, she could wait a bit longer for just one day, especially when she also got the “good food” that gets cooked on the hot table by the human.
