Work Text:
A warm fall sun brightened up the nice park trail that Maya and Airi had chosen that afternoon for a walk. They often didn’t get the chance to go on small dates like these given their busy schedules, but whenever they could get the time they’d jump at it in a heartbeat. In their hands was a nice pair of sunglasses they had gotten from a store that happened to be on the way there. As the two walked, Airi looked down at the pair, giving them a glance before an idea appeared in her head.
Airi was used to taking pictures for MMJ’s social media, but for every 10 marketing photos she took, there were 100 more of her day to day life. Being able to capture the fun moments of her life was a blessing, and seeing these heart eyed sunglasses gave her just the opportunity. She glanced at the brunette, who was still inspecting the sunglasses in her hands.
“Why don’t we take a fun picture with them?” Airi suggested, flashing a bright smile. Maya’s expression quickly morphed to match Airi’s, a confident smile blooming on her face.
“Let’s.” She replied with a nod, with Airi quickly getting her phone out of her jean pocket. Finding the right position for the photo, Airi lifted the sunglasses above her eyes to pose, before looking behind her in the camera view and being met with the dumbest sight imaginable. Maya was standing there, glasses over her eyes, hand under her chin as she made a stupid kissy face at the camera. Airi’s face went from incredible to laughing in just a few short moments, her hand snapping the photo as she was chuckling at her girlfriend’s ridiculous expression. Once the camera clicked and the picture was taken, Maya looked over at the still laughing idol.
“Was something funny?” Maya asked, a curious tone to her voice that did not do well to hide the smugness radiating from her person.
“Are you serious?” Airi questioned, to which Maya offered a shrug, causing Airi to scoff and roll her eyes before returning to her phone. She was getting ready to send the picture to the group chat she had with MMJ, but just as she was opening the messaging app, Maya leaned over and planted a long kiss on her cheek, catching Airi off guard and almost making her drop her phone.
“Hey, what was that-mmph!” Airi tried to interrogate the brunette, but was caught off guard when she was then met by Maya’s lips again, silencing Airi’s complaints as quickly as they had emerged. Airi decided it wasn’t worth fighting, returning the kiss for a few seconds, before pulling away. “You are so needy, y’know that?”
“Guilty as charged.” Maya chuckled, as she then began walking again. Airi decided messaging her friends could wait, she was on a date with her girlfriend after all, and decided to run off with her, continuing their nice walk to the park. Every now and again, Maya would glance over at Airi with a smirk when they weren’t talking. Airi didn’t think much of it, since she knew Maya just liked to observe her sometimes, but it did stick in her mind, just a bit.
A few more pictures were taken on the trip, just for some funny moments. She got one of Maya feeding some nearby ducks, a cool flower they found, just some nice parts of the park (and Airi would never miss a chance to catch Maya’s dorky side.) When the two had a moment to sit on a bench, Airi pulled out her phone to finally send a few of those pictures. Tapping through the best ones, she delivered the message then set her phone down on her lap for a bit as she leaned her head on Maya’s shoulder.
After a few minutes, she felt her phone vibrating a bit. Getting curious, she checked the group chat again.
Shizuku: “Airi-chan are you ok? What are those marks on your face?”
Haruka: “I think that’s lipstick Shizuku…”
Minori: “Ohhh, yeah! When you zoom in on them it does look like lipstick!”
Airi almost immediately threw the phone down on her lap. Whipping her head around to her girlfriend revealed Maya’s smug aura.
“YOU KNEW THE WHOLE TIME?!” Airi exclaimed, maybe a bit too loud in a public space, but she didn’t care at this point.
“I simply wanted to show them all the new lipstick you picked out for me.” Maya said, going back to staring at a nearby set of ducks. Airi’s face lit up even more as she heard of her girlfriend's trick, realizing the result of this embarrassment was because of a gift she had given, but let all of that rage out in a long, heavy sigh. She couldn’t stay mad at Maya, especially when behind all that teasing was a genuine want to show affection. But she wouldn’t let that go without revenge, as she quickly grabbed Maya’s chin and pressed a similar long kiss to her cheek, snapping a quick picture as she did so.
Somehow, Maya didn’t seem all too upset by this, laughing at their matching marks even as Airi made an attempt to wipe off the one of her face.
Revenge was a two way street after all, and sometimes that road wasn't all that bad.
