Work Text:

step 1: notice how unusually quiet your best friend has become (also known as: start your investigation)

Sakura wasn’t one to pry. But Yunjin, who often raved on and on and on about the people her heart so desired, had been awfully quiet. It was quite boring, not having someone yapping on next to you about the way her hair frames her face perfectly… and holy shit, he opened the door for me!

It was… scary.

So, she planned on asking her friend if she was alright… and if there was anything new she wanted to share (totally because she cared about her beloved friend and not because she wanted to know who got Yunjin all quiet and reserved and shy).

The three of them (Kazuha, Yunjin, and Sakura) sat at the cafeteria table nearest to the gym doors. The senior boys basketball team had taken time out of their lunch period and were practicing in the gym for their upcoming championship.

Sakura wondered why they had chosen this spot at the beginning of the year. They’d gotten out of class early just to find a good table on the first day of school.

Unbeknownst to the trio, however, their particular spot got fairly noisy, the sounds of laughter and socialization from the cafeteria mixing with the squeaking and stomping of shoes from the gym just a few metres away from them, creating what Sakura liked to call, The Symphony of Lunch Time .

Unfortunately, they couldn’t move to another table because of the unspoken lunch rule number one: Once you sit down at a table, that table is yours. No buts, no what ifs, and absolutely no moving whatsoever.

“Kkura, can I have your pizza crust?”

Sakura’s train of thoughts was interrupted by her girlfriend. “I want it today, Zuha.”

She lifted her head to sneak a glance at the girl in front of her. Kazuha pouted and tilted her head. “Please?”

It was almost as if Kazuha knew she couldn’t say no to that face. “…Fine.”

Sakura kept her ears open for anything Yunjin had to say. But she said nothing.

Not even the daily snarky comments from her saying something along the lines of, just because you guys started dating a month ago doesn’t mean you get to act all lovey-dovey in front of me!

…It was frightening.

Sakura ripped the crust off of her pizza and placed it on Kazuha’s lunch tray, the girl letting out a sound of delight. “How’s that music project going?”

She swore she felt the table shake from how fast Yunjin whipped her head up at the mention of that project. “What project?”

“What? Y’know, the one you just told us about?”

“Huh?”

Kazuha took a bite out of the pizza crust Sakura had given her before she spoke up. “The one you told us about yesterday. You were complaining about your teacher choosing random partners and how you’d kill yourself if your partner didn’t have a voice on par with Jo Yuri’s. A bit dramatic, to be honest. You know she almost cried during physics becau—“

“Shut up , Kazuha. I told you not to talk about that. And can you even blame me? I was lucky enough to get Yuri as my vocal partner, but Park’s dumbass decided not to pair us for the project!”

The girl in front of Sakura snorted and continued eating her crust.

Maybe, just maybe, Yunjin’s been all quiet because…

step 2: investigate potential suspects

Potential suspect number one: Jo Yuri.

As far as Sakura knew, Yuri was Yunjin’s number one crush since she saw her perform for the Christmas play back in their freshman year. And from what Sakura can see, she can safely assume that Yunjin still likes her.

(Seriously, liking someone for about four years is crazy, she thinks.)

“So is your project partner any good? What was her name?” Sakura paused to think. “Chae…won?”

“Um, yeah.” Yunjin pushed her empty tray aside and cleared her throat. “She’s, uh, great, actually. Her voice is—“

“On par with Yuri’s?”

“…Yeah, you could say that.”

Sakura stared at her friend, who wore an unreadable expression on her face. Huh. “She’s the one that dyed her hair brown, right?”

Yunjin laughed and Sakura caught a tinge of nervousness in her voice. “Yep, that’s her.”

She took a sip from her juice box, looked up, and saw a familiar face slowly walking towards them. “Isn’t that her?”

Yunjin tensed. “What?”

Before she knew it, the brown-haired girl had reached their table, putting both her hands on Yunjin’s shoulders and smiling at her as Yunjin looked up at the girl above her head. “Hi.”

“Chaewon?” Yunjin moved to turn around and Chaewon let her hands fall to her sides. “Hi. Do you, um, need anything?”

The girl standing behind her waved to her friends before she giggled. “Hm, did you forget about what we planned to do in the music room?”

Sakura practically saw Yunjin’s eyes widen, even with her back turned towards the table. “Oh! Oh, right, sorry.”

Sakura watched suspiciously as Chaewon dragged Yunjin out of her seat and away from her and Kazuha.

Kazuha took the last bite out of her crust. “She left her tray.”

The next time Sakura saw Yunjin was at the start of fourth period. She caught a glimpse of her right outside the classroom door, Chaewon walking her in, the two of them laughing together. A few students rushed in behind them. The two talked for what seemed like an hour before Yunjin finally smiled and waved Chaewon goodbye a little too awkwardly.

Kazuha raised a brow as soon as the girl sat down in the stool next to her. “Are you good? I haven’t seen you that nervous since you talked to Yuri for the first time during math class in freshman year.”

Yunjin laughed. She laughed .

Potential suspect number two: Kim Chaewon.

Sakura sat down in the desk beside Yunjin, watching her rush to finish her homework before their teacher walked into the room.

Today was a big day. The boy’s basketball championship was being held at their school due to their abnormally large gym, which Sakura was thankful for, of course, but sometimes running laps around that stupid gymnasium made her want to walk into ongoing traffic.

Thankfully, though, all of their school’s PE classes were canceled for the next three days. On the other hand, however, the poor girl had one too many boys from schools she hadn’t even heard of ask for her number. Sakura feared the moment a guy would ask for her number with her girlfriend right beside her.

“You do know there’s about a minute and a half before Ms. Lee walks into the room, right?”

“Yeah, and there’s about half an hour till your girlfriend gets here,” Yunjin retorted, not even looking up from her sheet.

Sakura sighed. “Leave her alone. I couldn’t find her earlier to force her to get to class on time.”

Just as Yunjin finished the last question on her worksheet, Kazuha walked in, along with a few other students panting, probably from running in fear of getting marked late. Among these students were a few basketball players, a few in hoodies and sweatpants, others just in their jerseys and shorts. Sakura assumed that they didn’t have a game to play, so they decided to be good students for once and attend class.

Everyone took their seats. Kazuha took a seat on the other side of Yunjin (no seats were left beside her girlfriend) and let out a breath. “I hate this class.”

And, in comedic fashion, Ms. Lee waltzed right in. “Hate what class?”

After class, Sakura noticed a tall figure looming over their table.

She looked up and made eye contact with Choi Yeonjun before he turned his gaze over to the girl beside her.

Everyone was aware of Yeonjun’s apparent crush on Yunjin. It all started in sophomore year, when Yeonjun had pointed out Yunjin in the crowd during a basketball game and shouted, this one’s for you! Everything else from that point on is history.

“Hey, we have a game later during lunch. I can, uh, get my friends to save you a spot if you wanted to watch.” Yeonjun glanced at the two girls sitting awkwardly beside Yunjin. “And for you guys too, I guess.”

Sakura rolled her eyes in spirit. This was not someone she’d like Yunjin to date.

Still, she made a mental note of the boy and put him above Kim Chaewon. For now.

Potential suspect number two (updated): Choi Yeonjun.

step 3: attend a basketball you don’t give two fucks about to investigate said suspect(s)

Their lunch period that day was about to be spent watching a basketball game none of them even cared about.

( Do we really have to?” “I feel bad! What if he already told his friends we’d be going?” “So what? Oh my god, please don’t make us watch this.” )

The trio walked into the gym and Kazuha covered her ears and clutched onto Sakura’s arm at the sheer volume the crowd was making. “Holy shit ! Remind me why we’re here again?”

Sakura groaned. “‘Cause Yunjin’s too much of a pussy to say no!”

Sakura looked up at the top of the bleachers and saw a group of boys waving them over. Yunjin took the lead and dragged them up the stairs.

Yunjin sidestepped into the bleachers once they’d reached the top. The boys had saved Yunjin, Sakura, and Kazuha a few spots in the row in front of them.

Sakura moved her head to see who they were sitting beside and, coincidentally, Kim Chaewon and her whole friend group (Choi Yena, Jo Yuri, and Hong Eunchae, her cousin) were seated right next to them. Yunjin sat down beside Chaewon and Sakura and Kazuha sat next to Yunjin.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the two girls beside her talking and laughing. Sakura wondered how they could hear each other over the banging of the pots and the cheering from the crowd.

Suddenly, she heard a voice boom from behind her. “Hey, Yeonjun! Your girlfriend’s here!”

Sakura looked down at the court and saw Yeonjun’s wide eyes and straight face eventually turning into a grin as he caught sight of Yunjin. The crowd turned to look at her before erupting into a set of cheers.

“You and Yeonjun are dating…?” Sakura turned her head to her left to see Chaewon furrowing her eyebrows, a small frown on her lips, staring directly at Yunjin, who was still staring down at the court and stunned by whatever the hell just happened.

Yunjin snapped her head up and shook her head vigorously. “Ah, no! He just— He just likes me, I think. I don’t like him back though.”

Sakura heard Chaewon scoff. “You think?”

She saw Yunjin gulp nervously. “It’s fine, he’s always this loud about it.”

Chaewon shifted a little closer to Yunjin and leaned into her shoulder.

Well, that was an update to her list.

Previously, Sakura’s list of Yunjin’s potential love interests looked like this:

  1. Jo Yuri: An old crush, most likely the person that’s got Yunjin all quiet. Although, Sakura finds it weird that Yunjin had just suddenly shut up about her. Intriguing…
  2. Choi Yeonjun: Has liked Yunjin for about two years now. Very, very vocal about wanting to win her over. Maybe he finally has. He’s probably last on Sakura’s People Yunjin Should Get With list, however.
  3. Kim Chaewon: A new addition to the cast? Not much going on with her except for the fact that they’re working on a project together. But she’s alright, she’s nice.

Now, however, it looked like this:

  1. Kim Chaewon: What the hell was that? They for sure have something going on, unless Sakura’s delusional. She’ll have to investigate this further.
  2. Jo Yuri: Still has potential, but her and Yunjin barely talked at the basketball game, so she isn’t quite sure.
  3. Choi Yeonjun: “I don’t like him back though.” That’s a good thing.

Her new goal? Investigate whatever the hell is going on between Yunjin and Chaewon.

step 4: gather your evidence

Sakura’s first piece of information hadn’t appeared to her the way she thought it would.

She stared at the messages on her phone.

sakura

wanna go get food with me and zuha after school

chaewon’s (potential) gf

i have plans with chaewon

sakura

ok fine ig good luck finding ur waist

if i see a speck of dust in the air ill make sure to say hi

chaewon’s (potential) gf

???

youre literally on your phone rn

piss off

“Plans with Chaewon? Are they not done their music project yet? It’s been weeks.” Kazuha looked up from Sakura’s phone and licked their shared ice cream cone.

She let go of Kazuha’s hand on the bench and raised her hands up in the air. “That’s what I’m saying!”

The couple sat on a bench right outside the convenience near their school. They had passed by the local diner just an hour earlier, but they opted for convenience store food instead after Kazuha mentioned that she’d been craving instant noodles since she saw a freshman heating up a cup of noodles in the cafeteria.

“Do you think…” Kazuha starts. “Do you think they have something going on?”

“Oh my god. Don’t even get me started.” Sakura licked the ice cream cone. “I have a list.”

Sakura explained her list (and her plan) and soon enough, Kazuha was on board. The pair finished their ice cream cone and got up to walk home. Much to Kazuha’s dismay, however, she had forgotten her backpack at school. They slowly made their way back to the school building.

“How are we gonna find out?” Kazuha took the other’s hand in her own. “Do you think Yunjin’s gonna tell us?”

Sakura kicked a rock on the sidewalk. “I mean, given the way she’s acting about it now, probably not?”

Kazuha hummed as they passed by the diner. “Wait… Kkura…”

She looked up at her girlfriend. “What?”

“Look…” She slowly pointed to the diner. “It’s…”

“You said you wanted convenience store food! Do you wanna go—“ Sakura finally spotted what Kazuha had been pointing at. “No way.”

She squinted to make sure she was seeing them correctly. She saw the brown hair first. Then she saw her best friend. Huh Yunjin.

“Are you seeing what I’m seeing? They’re totally on a date!” Kazuha laughed a bit too loudly and Sakura hushed her.

The shorter of the two examined the crime scene. Yunjin and Chaewon were sitting across from each other, sharing a milkshake and some fries. They were laughing and Yunjin looked the happiest she’d been in a while. Wait…

“Sharing a milkshake?” Sakura took a moment to stare at the cup. “Through… Through the same straw?!”

Sakura felt a pull on her arm. “Hey, we haven’t done that yet.”

She turned her head to see Kazuha pouting at her. “We can plan something next week. And besides…”

She turned her attention back towards the pair (or couple?) in the diner.

“We need to find out what’s going on between them first.”

The trio found themselves seated at their lunch table. Again.

Sakura ripped off her crust and slid it onto Kazuha tray. She looked at Yunjin and asked, “Do you have any plans after school?”

“Huh?”

She saw Kazuha sneak a glance at her out of the corner of her eye.

The couple had been planning this out for days now. Sakura would ask Yunjin if she had plans after school and she’d (hopefully) say that she has plans with her (most likely) girlfriend, Kim Chaewon. Afterwards, Kazuha and Sakura would take time after school to follow Yunjin (secretly) and (hopefully) find her with Chaewon.

“We wanted to go get food. And we miss you as our third wheel,” Kazuha added.

Sakura eyed Yunjin as she thought about the offer. “…I promised Chaewon we’d finish up the project today.”

The girls across from her both let out a noise close to a groan and a sigh. “Again? It’s literally a Friday!”

“But—“

Sakura rolled her eyes. “Whatever. Go make out with her or something.”

“What!?”

This was good. Her perfectly laid out plan was coming together. This was good.

step 5: commit a crime (stalking) in order to continue (satiate) your investigation (curiosity)

Sakura spotted Kazuha packing her bag at a pace slower than a turtle. She sighed under her breath and took a few steps towards her. “Hurry up. We won’t be able to see them if you quite literally have all your textbooks still laid out on the floor.”

Kazuha shoved her last textbook in her bag and zipped it up. “Where are they?”

She shrugged. “We’ll just have to find them.”

The pair rushed through the crowded hallway and saw Chaewon walk out of a classroom, no Yunjin in sight. Sakura moved to follow her, pulling Kazuha by the wrist, too focused on the girl a few steps ahead of her to notice the tall figure on her right. She felt herself get pulled aside, Kazuha stumbling in the same direction.

Sakura tore her gaze off of Chaewon and directed it towards… Yeonjun?

“Is Yunjin doing anything after school?”

What was she supposed to say to that? Was she supposed to tell the guy that had liked Yunjin for over half of high school that she was going to ‘finish up’ a project for school with her potential girlfriend? She didn’t want to expose her best friend like that, did she? Unless, of course—

“She’s going on a date.”

Sakura’s eyes widened and she fought the urge to elbow her girlfriend’s side. What the hell was she saying?

Yeonjun’s brows furrowed. “A date? With who?”

Kazuha smirked and looked in Chaewon’s direction. “Not you.”

Sakura felt a little bad for the boy. He’d practically just been told that the girl he liked was interested in someone else. Geez, if Sakura were in his shoes, she’d be sobbing already.

Sakura forced out a smile. She gritted her teeth, “Zuha…”

“What?”

Sakura straightened up and flashed Yeonjun a smile. “Don’t listen to her. Yunjin’s just busy with extracurriculars.”

He ignored Sakura and turned to look at Chaewon, who was about to walk out of the school. “Is she… Is she going out with Chaewon?”

Sakura laughed nervously and tugged on Kazuha’s wrist, signalling to her that they were going to lose their only lead. “Haha… See you tomorrow!”

Once Yeonjun was out of earshot, Sakura pulled Kazuha’s ear harshly and chided her for her actions. They hurried after Chaewon and almost gasped when they turned a corner and saw Yunjin and Chaewon, shoulder to shoulder, laughing a bit too much.

“Oh my god… They’re totally fucking.”

“Kazuha!”

They followed the (maybe?) couple for a few minutes until they reached a small neighbourhood. If it weren’t for the perfect placement of the trees near the sidewalk, they would’ve been caught ages ago. But whatever god out there was on their side today.

Sakura called it quits once she saw the two of them enter on of the houses ahead of them, her suspicions pretty much confirmed.

“…I know they’re dating.”

Kazuha snorted. “You think?”

Now they just needed confirmation.

From none other than Yuri, Chaewon’s best friend and Yunjin’s (former?) crush.

step 6, plan a: interrogate a suspect to investigate a suspect

“Let me get this straight. You wanna know if Chaewon and Yunjin are dating?”

They’re definitely not straight,” Kazuha commented.

Yuri giggled.

“…So are they dating or not?” Sakura cut in.

Yuri brought a hand up to her cheek as if to think. She hummed and smiled. “Mm, I’m afraid I can’t tell you—“

Sakura let out a noise of disappointment.

“—but you can ask Eunchae. If she answers your question, then…”

Sakura didn’t need to hear any more. She rushed out of the drama room as she called out a thank you behind her shoulder, Kazuha in tow.

This had been haunting her the whole weekend. She tried to text Yunjin about it, but that bore no fruit.

Their texts looked a little like this:

chaewon’s (potential) gf

do you have the lit answers

sakura

sakura

NO (not delivered)

step 6, plan b: interrogate the suspect’s cousin

That led her to this exact moment. This specific room. All the stars aligned. They allowed her to be in this room, at this time, on this day. Standing in front of Eunchae as she finished up her sophomore homework in the library.

“Hey…”

“You sound like a creep.”

Sakura elbowed Kazuha and looked down at Eunchae as she looked up.

Eunchae studied the girls in front of her. “Um, hi?”

“You’re Chaewon’s cousin, right?” She continued.

“Wait… aren’t you two…” Eunchae mumbled, squinting her eyes at the pair before she laughed. “Never mind. Yeah, why?”

“Can we ask you one question? It’s for the school newspaper.”

Eunchae giggled. “Sure!”

Sakura sighed in relief. She brought her voice down to a whisper. “Does Chaewon like anyone at the moment?”

Eunchae set her pencil down. “Hm… You could say that… Yeah, she does.”

“Do you know who?”

“Mm, yeah.”

“Are they a guy?”

“Are you sure this is for the paper?” Eunchae teased.

Sakura realized she must’ve come off too desperate, so she toned it down a bit. “Um, yeah.”

“Okay… I thought you two would’ve known.”

“…Known what?” Sakura had a nagging feeling that she knew what the younger girl was talking about.

“That the person she likes isn’t a guy.”

Sakura heard Kazuha gasp beside her. “Does that mean…”

Eunchae laughed. “I thought she would’ve told you guys.”

“Who told us what?”

Eunchae picked her pencil back up and grinned at them. “I’ll let you two figure that out.”

Kazuha left the library confused. Sakura, however, knew her list had to be updated:

  1. Kim Chaewon: No explanation needed.
  2. Jo Yuri
  3. Choi Yeonjun

Her investigation was about come to a close.

step 7: confirm the suspect and charge them for their crimes (charged for: theft of your best friend’s heart)

“Wanna go get food after this?”

The three of them were situated in the library, the corner nearest to the back of the room, hoping for some peace and quiet while they all studied and did their homework. Yunjin had her back turned towards the entrance to the library, while Sakura and Kazuha had a full view of anyone who happened to walk past them.

“Can—“

“And don’t even think about saying you have plans with Chaewon,” Kazuha deadpanned.

“I wasn’t gonna say that!”

Sakura shoved her folder into her backpack and looked up at her girlfriend and her best friend arguing. “Shhhh. You’re being too loud.”

Sakura decided a week earlier that she was just going to let Yunjin come out with her secrets on her own, tell her when she was ready. She didn’t want to keep pushing her to share something she didn’t want to. So, for the past two weeks, she’s resorted watching Yunjin’s every interaction with Chaewon.

She had almost given up on her investigation after one last attempt to get Yunjin to spit it out a few days earlier.

(‘Twas a Wednesday afternoon. Sakura had ran out of ideas, but she had one last chance… The false accusation.

“I saw you holding hands with Chaewon after school yesterday.”

“What? I was at a music meeting.”

“Don’t even try to lie to me, Huh Yunjin.”

“I’m not lying to you. Go ask Yuri, I was there. Chaewon had a club meeting.”

“…Fuck.”

Safe to say it didn’t work.)

Yunjin’s voice brought Sakura back to the present. “I was just gonna ask if Chaewon can come!”

Sakura squinted at her sheet for the hundredth time. She cursed inwardly at herself for forgetting to wear her contacts. She gave up, reached down into her backpack, and fished her glasses out.

“Oh my god, why are you always talking about Chaewon?”

“No I’m not!” Yunjin hissed.

Sakura let her eyes adjust to the lenses and blinked. Suddenly, she caught sight of a familiar figure walking towards them, getting closer and closer to the group.

“I just wanted to know if Chaewon could—“

“If I could?” Chaewon had put her hand on Yunjin’s shoulder and looked down at her as Yunjin turned her head to look at her. Chaewon smiled and waved at the girls in front of her. They waved back.

“Chaewon! Hi!” Yunjin squeaked. Unusual for her, Sakura thought. But maybe Chaewon was starting to change that. “Did your meeting end early?”

“Mm, no.” Chaewon paused, turned her attention towards the couple in front of her, and gave them an apologetic look. “Ah, sorry. Did I interrupt your study session?”

Kazuha eyed Yunjin and immediately responded, “No, you’re fine!”

Chaewon motioned to the chair beside Yunjin. “Do you mind if I…?”

“No, yeah, you can sit here if you want to.”

Chaewon thanked Kazuha and, all in one motion, sat down and kissed Yunjin on the cheek. She smiled softly at the malfunctioning girl beside her and mumbled, “I missed you.”

Sakura gasped and immediately got up and out of her chair. “It was you! I knew it!”

The students around them turned their heads at the sudden commotion. Sakura made eye contact with one of the students in the non-fiction aisle and sat back down, embarrassed.

Chaewon, on the other hand, looked back and forth between Yunjin and Sakura, face contorting to an expression of confusion. “Yunjin? I thought they knew..?”

“I haven’t…” Yunjin trailed off, swallowing as she fidgeted with the corner of her worksheet. “Sorry.”

Chaewon frowned and took her hand in her own. “No, don’t be. I just assumed they knew after what Eunchae told me had happened a few weeks back.”

Chaewon tore her gaze off of her girlfriend (Sakura was glad she could finally call the two a couple) and turned to look at the other girls. “Yunjin and—“

“We’re dating,” Yunjin cut her off.

Kazuha slammed her pencil on the table, much to the surprise of the group. “Fina-fucking-ly.”

Sakura elbowed her. “Zuha!”

Chaewon giggled and snuck a glance at Yunjin, whose face was clearly burning up.

Kazuha laughed. “I mean, wasn’t it obvious? They couldn’t be away from each other for more than an hour, Chaewon was always dragging her away from us and—“

“I’m sorry,” Chaewon interjected, trying to bite back a smile.

“—seriously, using the same old ‘hey, we have a project to finish up’ as an excuse to make out in Chaewon’s bedroom wasn’t very secretive of you!”

“We weren’t making out!”

Chaewon and Sakura stared at Yunjin knowingly and she slumped.

“But!” Kazuha continued. “All things aside, I’m really happy for you guys.”

The four of them talked for a little longer, mostly about Chaewon and Yunjin’s budding relationship, and Sakura found out that Yunjin had adorably promised her girlfriend a milkshake after her meeting.

“Can we stop talking about us for a second?” Yunjin sighed, the remnants of a blush still present of her face. “I was gonna ask you guys if Chaewon could come along to the convenience store, since we’d already planned to go out today, but a certain someone interrupted me.”

Chaewon smiled bashfully and Sakura spoke up, smirking. A telltale sign of the teasing that was about to come. “Of course she can tag along! I’m sure your girlfriend would love that.”

Kazuha guffawed.

It wasn’t long before Chaewon had to take her leave, telling the others that’d she’d probably get kicked out of the journalism club if she stayed out for any longer.

(“Wait… The journalism club? The one that writes the school newspapers?” “…Yes. Eunchae was laughing at the two of you after she told us about what happened in the library. Top 10 worst excuses to be nosy ever .”)

The three of them got back to working on their assignments before Chaewon finished up.

“Hey, Yunjin.”

“Yeah?”

“…We’re not done with you yet.”

Yunjin groaned as the couple in front of her laughed evilly.

step 8 (optional): go on a double date (?) with the victim (your best friend) and the criminal (their lover)

Sakura slid a five dollar bill across the counter and thanked the cashier for the pizza. “You’ve been together for how long?”

Yunjin’s voice spoke up behind her. “Since… A month ago?”

Sakura turned around once she got her hands on her pizza and saw Yunjin turned to Chaewon, as if to ask, hey, we’ve been together for a month, right?

Kazuha gave Yunjin a look of disbelief. “You don’t even know when you got together?”

“Well, it was complica-“

“Sakura and I got together at 7:44 PM, on a Wednesday night, at—“

“Zuha, that’s enough.”

Chaewon giggled as the four of them walked out of the convenience store to make their way to the diner. “I kissed her the first time she came over. It was kinda iffy after that because I thought we were dating, but she thought I was… What’d you say I was doing?”

Yunjin shook her head and groaned. “Don’t make me say it again. It’s embarrassing.”

“She thought I was ‘experimenting.’ It took her a week to realize we were actually dating.” Chaewon smiled at her teasingly.

Kazuha sighed and leaned over to take a bite out of Sakura’s pizza. “Geez, Yunjin, learn to take a hint.”

“Exactly!” Chaewon said.

Yunjin pouted. “I didn’t bring Chaewon along so you guys could gang up on me!”

The four of them walked to the diner, couples hand in hand, while they continued to tease Yunjin. They entered the restaurant and Chaewon, Kazuha, and Sakura went to go sit in a booth nearest to the very corner on the building while Yunjin went to go get Chaewon a milkshake.

Just as the three of them sat down, Sakura heard a ding! from her phone.
