my universe

Summary:

And they reach towards each other, their hands reaching for each other as they profess their undying love—their forever promise—beneath the universe’s watchful eyes.

Always be by my side.

They reach towards each other, their hands lit aglow by the warmth of the setting sun but, before they touch, the night plunges them into endless darkness.

Work Text:

Hope withered in the abyss.

Deep lavender coloured eyes haunt Mizi. They face her in her dreams, her memories, her sanity. Everywhere she looks, she sees her —her love, her life, her universe. Mizi reaches for her in her dreams, reaching out for the dark hair that was once adorned with the lively red of the clematis flowers, reaching for the smiles that decorated her beautiful lips, reaching, reaching, forever reaching. Mizi’s amber-gold eyes flutter as she reaches towards nothing, the nothing that fills her future. Then, she closes her eyes, drifting away into her dreams—the only place she can ever hope to see her beautiful, her beloved, her dear Sua.

“Sua,” she whispers, her broken, fragile, voice echoing in the small room.

Hope bloomed from the abyss.

Sua knows how naive Mizi is. It’s no insult to be naive, no insult to be… sheltered. But, Mizi doesn’t understand what Alien Stage is. She doesn’t understand the severity of their situation, what it means to take part in the stage. She watches Mizi who dances happily, celebrating their ‘Pass’ and Sua celebrates with her while smiling, knowing what the stage means.

They will never make it out together. Sua knows this; this truth rings heavy in her soul.

But, for Mizi’s sake, she stays happy. She stays smiling. She stays content.

Always be by my side.

Their voices bleed together. The spotlight gleams against their pale skin as the air is illuminated with the sounds of their singing—the promise to be together, forever. Their cheeks flush with nearly child-like exhilaration and memories swirl in their minds—memories from a simpler, kinder time. They turn to each other, amethyst eyes meeting golden ones as they sing.

Oh my Clematis.

Their lips trace the depths of their song, the depth of their love—their promise. And they reach towards each other, their hands reaching for each other as they profess their undying love—their forever promise—beneath the universe’s watchful eyes.

Always be by my side.

And they touch, like when the sun touches the horizon and begins sinking beneath, into the depths of the ocean.

Sua looks into Mizi’s eyes, gazing deep into the windows of her soul. Her eyes soften as she sinks into Mizi’s presence, her god.

Mizi smiles at Sua, her soul beaming with the taste of happiness as she grasps her lover’s song and heart in her soul. She smiles fondly at her, barely registering the clicks of the score in the background.

Sua hears it. She knows it as they face each other, the crowd roaring in the distance. She smiles at Mizi, her smile melancholic and filled with the burning yearning of one who will never have enough time.

87 : 86

A gunshot.

Blood splatters against Mizi’s face. She slackens, falling to her knees. The light illuminates her figure in the middle of the stage, Sua’s blood dripping from her skin, seeping into the stage, carving itself behind her eyes and into her memory.

Her heart falls, crashes to the ground, breaking into pieces. And she stares, her eyes unable to look away from Sua’s body as it engraves itself into her mind, tormenting her. She vaguely feels the click of the collar against her neck before she’s dragged away.

Oh my Clematis.

Please stay by my side.
