Work Text:
This was supposed to be another night of fighting curses with the students. However, Gojo got a call from Ijichi about Nanami leaving 10 minutes after entering the haunted building with Yuji and Megumi. Apparently on the way, his body was hurting but chose to ignore it until they arrived at their destination.
Gojo’s heart drops, his omega has been acting strange for the past few days. Even this morning he complained about back and stomach issues which was unusual for Nanami. But he should have taken Nanami off this mission. The only reason Nanami covered for him was because he was busy but needed the kids to practice more with lower level curses.
Gojo was worried as Ijichi explained Nanami’s pain. “And he just left by himself! You didn’t stop him!” What if a curse got Nanami without them realizing it was not a lower monster. “Then you waited 30 minutes to tell me!”
Ijichi did try to drop him off near the hospital but Nanami was in pain yet managed to convince he would be ok taking a taxi. They yelled at him to stay with the students while apologizing. This was indeed out of character for Nanami, he thought.
“Well, I tried-”
Gojo didn’t have time for this when his mate was somewhere in pain. “Just tell me which hospital.”
*
Gojo tried his best to be calm as he ran into the emergency room, quickly explaining about Nanami, demanding to see his omega. The nurse was not fazed by Gojo’s frantic behavior as lots of people worry for their loved ones.
“Sir, calm down. Let me just locate him.” Once the nurse was done tracking down Nanami, she smiled at Gojo. “He’s on the other side of the building, just go through those door which led you straight into OBGYN-”
“Thank you!” Gojo didn’t wait for her to finish as he started to run, all his brain register was on the other side of the hospital. He didn’t understand why the nurse was smiling at him about Nanami’s whereabouts, this was an emergency at the hospital.
Gojo felt Nanami’s curse energy as he got closer, it was his guide instead of reading the sign on the walls or following the nurse’s directions.
He finally felt his omega in this ward as he approached the nurses stations. They all seem too happy working in an emergency room, he thought. “Hello sir!” One of the nurses greeted him with a smile.
“Hi! My omega is here!” Gojo didn’t have time for an introduction.
“SHH!” Gojo could not believe a bunch of nurses just hushed him in the emergency room.
What kind of hospital was this, it was late past midnight, and these nurses were full of rainbow scrubs and sunshine happy energy. His omega was in pain in a hospital that seemed bothered by the lack of emergency.
“Sir, calm down and lower your voice.” Gojo was taken back but quickly recollected himself since he needed his omega. “Good, now please tell me who you are looking for?”
“Nanami Kento,” Gojo answered quickly, he noticed the nurses smiled at each other, they knew something he didn’t. His brain didn’t understand why they were smiling.
Before he could ask. “Gojo Satoru, the alpha we've been waiting for,” The nurse in yellow scrub smiled. “We were expecting you, please follow me.”
Gojo followed her but his heart was racing. “Is he ok? What happened? Will he need a long rest?”
“Yes, he’s just resting. But he wanted to talk to you in person.” The nurse finally stopped at a room at the end of the hall.
“Wait here a second.” She gently knocks on the door before letting herself in. He didn’t understand why these people kept him from seeing his omega. What if he is cursed by something that he needs to take him to Shoko.
She quickly came out with a smile. “He’s ready but please be patient as he’s a bit exhausted. Let me know if you need anything else.”
He thanked her as he entered the room. His heart was beating fast as he wondered how his omega was, what was the condition that caused Nanami to be ill.
Nanami was sitting up on the bed with a blanket over him, machines and IV seem to be attached to him. He looked exhausted, his hair was pulled back by a hairband, dark circles. He looked like he ran a marathon.
“Babe” Gojo walked slowly towards his mate.
Gojo’s nose picked up an additional smell of sweet milk, which was odd because Nanami’s scent was vanilla.
“Today, the trajectory of my life is forever changed,” Nanami spoke softly. “Well both of ours.”
Gojo didn’t understand but Nanami continued to speak. “Life is crazy, Toru. Today, I woke up to fight curses and now…”
The omega slowly removes the blanket off his chest to show a baby that is cradled against him. It was skin to skin as the baby was feeling the warmth of the mother, sleeping.
Gojo was speechless.
“Satoru, meet our baby girl,” Nanami smiled.
Nanami had a cryptic pregnancy.
When they told him he was in labor, he was in disbelief when he came with only back pain and stomach pain. He thought they were crazy but he was wrong. He was in denial for the first half hour until his baby came out. It will be an experience he’ll never forget.
“What?” Gojo was shocked. Out of many possibilities, this was not one of them. “Baby? Like my baby?!” He moved closer to see her. She was a bit pink since she was fresh into the world. She had mixed colored hair between them. “How!? When? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t know. They said it was a cryptic pregnancy.” Nanami moves to the side, making room for Gojo to sit next to him. He never used the six eyes on Nanami but this was a nice surprise.
“We made her,” Gojo kissed Nanami.
“Can’t believe you missed the huge maternity sign. When the nurse told me you passed the baby's signs and decorations, not picking up that I had a baby, I was surprised.”
“I was busy focusing on you. Now, I owe the hospital nurses apologies, they were happy because we had a baby.” Gojo was in love with his baby girl. Even though she was not plan, Gojo was happy.
She starts to move her head, looking for milk. “My body knows yet my brain can’t believe this.”
So, the sweet smell of milk was her and Nanami.
“It feels like a dream,” Nanami smiles as he turns to Gojo. “Are you crying?”
The strongest sorcerer was crying. He was happy to know Nanami was safe and life had given him a baby with the person he loves.
