Work Text:
Erwin didn't recall falling asleep at any point, but the drool on the couch cushion suggested otherwise. The movie they'd put in had likely finished hours ago based on the blue screen facing him, and try as he might he couldn't move his arm. What was holding him down? Sitting up at all without anything to push him forward was difficult, but he was dying to know just what the hell was on his arm.
Oh.
Levi was asleep on the floor next to him, and he was holding Erwin’s arm. What would be the best way to scream without waking him up? No, really - Erwin felt like he was about to explode. Maybe he could use the fact that Levi was groggy when someone wakes him up to his advantage? Yeah, that was a good plan! He'd have Levi roll over and then they… they could… sleep on the floor together… They'd cuddled together plenty of times as kids, would it be weird for them to cuddle now? Would Levi care? Was that too obvious? Well… actually, being too obvious could be the right thing to do here: it was Levi after all.
Erwin took a deep breath before lightly shaking his shoulder. "Hey, Levi."
"... Huh?"
Fuuuuuuck his sleepy voice was so cute. What the fuck, that can't be allowed. "Can you scoot over real quick?"
"Mmkay..."
Once he'd settled in on the floor, Levi rolled back over and wrapped an arm over Erwin’s chest.
Fuck.
THIS WAS THE WORST IDEA ERWIN COULD'VE EVER HAD!!!! HE WAS NEVER GONNA BE ABLE TO FALL ASLEEP NOW!!! LEVI WAS TOUCHING HIM!!!! FUCK!!!!!!
And of course, just like that Levi was fast asleep again, leaving Erwin to lie in the floor bed that he'd made.
“Erwin?” His mother's voice. It must've been close to 5am then, the start of her shift that day. Erwin hadn't slept. How could he?
“Hey mom.” He replied as casually as he could, then thought for a moment. “Also, let's be quiet: Levi's still sleeping.”
“I can see that.” Erwin could hear the coffee pot gurgling in the kitchen, and soon he saw his mom's face standing over them. “... Why are you both on the floor?”
“Uh.” He hadn't really thought out how to explain this to someone else. “... I fell off the couch at some point?”
She made a face. What it meant was unclear but it sure was a face.
“You two are so strange.” The woman eventually sighed, stepping back and presumably returning to the kitchen. Until she came back with a blanket and draped it over them. “Please try not to get hypothermia, I deal with enough sick people at work.”
“Thank you.” It was one of the thick quilts, the ones Levi liked to use because “they press down on him”, whatever that meant.
After that she walked off again, now definitely in the kitchen based on the sounds he was hearing. Eventually they stopped, and the woman returned to eyeball the pair again. “Enjoy your floor time, I guess?”
“Yep, will do mom.”As she began walking away, Erwin gasped. “Wait, actually could you put a new movie in?”
She turned and stared at him silently. Erwin made his best puppy eyes.
“No. Go back to sleep.”
“Aw dammit, that always works on Levi.”
“... I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that. Try not to use the fact that your brother can't say no to you to get him to do things for you anymore, okay? Sweet dreams.” He hated it when she did that. They weren't brothers, they never had been. Why did she keep insisting on calling them that - they'd never considered each other as brothers.
Fuck, man, now he felt weird about still being giddy over the fact that Levi was snuggled up next to him.
That wasn't going to make him move anytime soon though.
