Little Planet only appeared once a year normally the event is met with fanfare as it is seen as a symbol of a good harvest by the local villages, but this year the local townspeople have contracted the Fairy the Tail guild to free the celestial body from its captor, this was why Erza Scarlet a 15-year-old red Mobian Hedgehog was currently eyeing the gigantic chain that connected the small planet to nearby mountain that had a strange carving of a moustached man, "it would be easiest to just destroy the chain and say the job was done, but I don't think that's quite what the townspeople meant when they said to free the planet" Erza sighed as she looked at the new metallic surface of the planet, Erza got up and started running towards the chain intending to use it to access the surface of the planet and put a stop to whatever evil had infested it
The suface of the planet didn't look any better up close, what was once lush green forest was now a maze of metal pillars with robotic automatons around every corner they were no match for Erza's blade but they were a worrisome sign for things to come, as Erza turned a corner she was hit to the ground, looking up she saw not another metallic monster but a blue hedgehog also getting up from the ground
"hey watch where you're going will ya" the blue hedgehog snarked he looked around Erza's age but was slightly shorter than her
"excuse me, you where the one not looking where the were going" Erza could already tell this hedgehog had a difficult personality, "and what are you doing here anyway can't you see it's not safe, im here on an official Fairy Tail quest and im not going to get side tracked babysitting some lost adrenaline junkie"
"I'm not here just for the thrill of it, I'm here to put a stop to Robotnik's plan" the boy huffed crossing his arms
"you know who's behind all this?" Erza asked thinking any information is better than what she's working with even if had to come out of this guy's obnoxious mouth
"yeah Dr Robotnik, I've wrecked one of his attempts at building up an army before, but mechanising an entire planet is a big step up for the doc" the blue hedgehog explained
"well if you're experienced in taking this doctor down then i'd be stupid not to work with you on this one" Ezra sighed reaching out her hand "I'm Eza Scarlet a wizard from Fairy Tail"
"hehehe nice to meet ya Erza, name's Sonic,i don't care for guilds but i don't mind if you tag along just try to keep up" Sonic laughed as he shook Eza's hand and then sped off leaving Erza coughing up dust
"ugh jerk" Erza mumbled under her breath as she ran after the blue hedgehog
After a lot of running and smashing badnicks the newly formed duo had set up camp for the night, Erza looked up at the tall mechanical structures that dotted the landscape as she stoked the fire, "how did this place end up like this, surely this Robonik person couldn't have built all of this himself" Erza asked hoping she could Lear more about their foe from Sonic
"he has a technique that can turn organic life into machine , he calls it robotisation, i've seen it before but the doc's really outdid himself this time, taking him down is the fastest way to break the curse" Sonic explained as he lay beside the fire
"this man sounds incredibly dangerous, how come I've never heard of him before?" Erza asked thinking surly a man capable of such feats would be more well known if he was using them for nefarious purposes
"the egghead likes to keep a low profile, he doesn't want to reveal himself till he's confident his army can protect him, i have a feeling he feels safe enough now if he's pulling off something of this scale" Sonic explained as he let out a yawn
"you seem to know an awful lot about this Dr robotnik's inner thoughts, why is that?" Erza asked suspicious of the blue hedgehog's relationship with the mad doctor
"...when you're around someone long enough you start understand how they think, that goes for enemies just as much as it does for allies" Sonic said not maintaining eye contact with Erza
"if you say so" Erza replied as sonic turned his back to her as he lay down to sleep, she wasn't entirely convinced by his answer but decided not to pry any further on the topic
The next morning the two hedgehogs wasted no time and set off towards Robotnik, "it would be best we know each other's abilities before we face our foe, so do you know any sort of magic or do you rely purely on your impresive speed" Erza asked she had seen speed magic before but it wasn't anything like what sonic could do
"oh i use wind magic, its pretty cool but its faster to just smash the Doc's Badniks rather than waste the energy blowing them away" Sonic smirked as he answered creating a small tornado from his hand "well enough about me, what's your magic like bet it's pretty cool if you're part of a guild"
"my magic allows me to requip my weapons and armour at a moment's notice, they each have their different strengths" Erza explained as the two made their way through the metal maze the planet had become, as the two turned a corner they realised had come to a dead end
"damn could have sworn this was the best way to Robotnik" Sonic sighed with his arms folded
"how are you deciding what direction to go anyway, it looks like you're just going in random directions" Erza complained, she had been following the blue hedgehog all this time even though he hadn't explained where they were heading
"Robotnik has a pretty recognisable stench, i've been using that to track the egg head down" Sonic smirked tapping his nose
"you meen to tell me we've been running around this entire planet based looking for this Eggman or whatever his name is solely on your sense of smell!?" Erza yelled, she was completely done with this guy's attitude
"hey my nose is way past cool, I've tracked Robotnik down this way before and it hasn't let me down yet" Sonic sighed getting fed up with this tag along, he was beginning to think he should just ditch her, before either of them could finish their argument there was a loud BOOM and before either one of the hedgehogs could react Erza had been grabbed by a blue blur, now floating above Sonic with Erza in his metallic grasp was a metal duplicate of the blue hedgehog it's eyes where a piercing red and it had what looked like an engine in its chest, even though the double had no mouth Sonic felt like it was giving him smirk
"you're gonna regret picking a fight with me!" Erza yelled as she swung her sword at the metal Sonic only for him to tilt his head to dodge the attack and tighten his grip on her throat in return before flying off at super sonic speeds with the true sonic wasting no time in giving chase using a gust of wind to give himself a boosted start
Metal Sonic had flown Erza to part of little planet filled with golden speedways that twisted and turned often overlapping each other, if she wasn't currently being dragged through the air at mach speed she'd probably would have enjoyed the sight a lot more, Sonic was still following behind them but couldn't manage to hit Metal Sonic at the hight he was at, Erza thought up a plan quickly begrudgingly putting her faith in the blue hedgehog, "Sonic get ready!" Erza yelled out to the speedster below
"get ready for what!?" Sonic yelled back in confusion as he chased the metallic copy of himself
"for this!" Erza shouted as she punched Metal Sonic in the face with enough force to crack the glass that made up his eyes causing his grip on her to momentarily falter just enough for her to break free, this victory was short lived though as she quickly began plummeting towards the groun, Sonic quickly used an air boost to while jumping off a ramp in order to get enough height to catch Erza mid air before landing into a skidding stop
"hey how about a proper warning next time huh" Sonic complained putting the red hedgehog down and stretching
"bold of you to assume i'll ever work with you again" Erza teased before turning her attention back to Metal Sonic who was now accompanied by an egg shaped man flying in a metallic contraption the man had a large orange moustache he was wearing a red shirt with a yellow cape and black trousers, "you must be Robotnik I presume?"Erza glared
"ohohoho that's Dr Robotnik to you little miss, and Sonic i see you've met your uprgade, id like to formally introduce you to Metal Sonic a weapon that's 100 percent loyal to me, he's designed solely to destroy you, ohohoho have fun" Robotnik laughed as he flew away to a safer distance
Erza then turned her attention towards Metal Sonic who had now recovered from the surprise attack and was flying towards the two at great speed, Sonic burst into action his legs bluring into a figure eight formation as he ran straight towards his metallic copy, the two clashed with a loud BOOM followed by a shoch wave, they were moving so fast Erza struggled to keep track of them but she could still see that they were evenly matched taking hit for hit neither one taking a clear lead, Erza knew Sonic couldn't overcome this foe alone it was a perfect match like they each knew each others next move before they made it, she would have to intervene somehow, after her sword with a flash of light she took her stance took a deep breath and waited for the perfect time, as Metal Sonic flew by to land a hit on Sonic she swung her sword striking the metalic copy in the chest and leaving a large gash behind, as Metal Sonic staggered from this attack he was hit by a spin dash form sonic sending him flying several feet back, before he could recover Erza jumped into action and plunged her sword through Metal's chest before pulling it out and dodging away from Metal's energy blast
"looks like you're just a cheep knock off" Sonic smirked before hitting Metal with a punch enhanced by his wind magic resulting in the machines insides being torn up by the force of the wind
"WHAT INCONCEIVABLE!!" Robotnik yelled out as he descended to the battle feild "Metal Sonic was my perfect creation he matched you in every aspect"
"heh you didn't count on one thing doc, im not alone i got my friend here to back me up" Sonic smirked pointing his thumb at Erza, if he was being truthful he had never had a friend before he just wanted to mess with Robotnik, he then jumped up on the flying contraption and threw Robotnik onto the ground where he was met with Erza pointing her sword at him
"release this planet or this sword will be the last thing you ever see" the red hedgehog glared
"you don't actually have choice doc" Sonic said as he landed beside Erza and knocked the man out with a kick to the head, it only took a moment before the metallic landscape around them to start to crumble to reveal lush green beneath it, "well gotta juice" Sonic smirked as he grabbed Robotnik and Erza set off at break neck speeds
Sonic ran down the chain tethering the planet as it disintegrated only reaching the mountain tops in the nick of time, he threw Robotnik to the ground and let go of Erza, "how about you give me a proper warning next time" she chuckled as she got her bearings straight
"now who's assuming there's gonna be a next time" Sonic laughed
"well we're friends now according to you right" Erza teased she had begun to enjoy her time spent with this boy "and i think we make a pretty good team, you could join fairy tail, come on I'd put in a good word for you and we could use someone like you around"
"hehehe nice offer but I've got places to see and people to meet, there's a whole world out there to explore" Sonic laughed looking at little planet as it began to be engulfed by golden light before disappearing, "but that doesn't mean I won't be in touch"
"alright Sonic if you're ever in magnolia don't be afraid to drop by the guild hall" Erza smiled wishing he had accept her offer "im gonna take this guy to the proper authorities, take care" she laughed giving the unconscious Robotnik a kick
"alright see you around red" Sonic smiled lifting his fist up for a fist bump that Erza sighed at before reciprocating, Sonic then did a couple stretches before running off into the distance
"heh still think he's a bit of a jerk" Erza sighed before picking up Robotnik and setting off to revive her reward
4 years later
in the quiet night of the city of magnolia a blue blur was racing upon the roof tops, "whoo hoo" the blue hedgehog yelled as he jumped from building to building, the young hedgehog had grown a lot since the events that took place on little planet not just physically but as a person he now had a best friend and a friendly rival, he never forgot that girl he met back then but despite visiting magnolia several times in the past four years he never saw her since he thought he was just unlucky, Sonic's daredevil activities where cut short when he heard screams coming from the church yard he wasted no time racing towards the trouble
when he got there Sonic was greates by creature that looked like it was completely made out of water except for it's green jewel like eyes and flouting brain, the creature lost interest in the light blue haired it was menacing and immediately swung at Sonic causing him to jump over its whip like arms, Sonic used his wind magic to catapult him towards the creature mid air splattering the creature everywhere, it eventually made itself up into a blob and reformed its body, but not for long as a sword slash cut the beast down again this time it fell apart and its prices retreated to a sewer drain
"hey thanks whoever you are"Sonic laughed as he looked up to see who gave him a hand only to be met with the face of a beautiful red hedgehog girl whose long quills covered her right eye "Erza!?"
"Sonic!?" The girl responded revealing that she was indeed Erza Scarlet
