Work Text:
It was an unusually clear night. Not a single cloud could be seen in the sky. Stars scattered the dark blue backdrop, lighting up the sky. Freckled spots of white that connected with each other to create a picture and story.
Mind stared out of his window, looking up at the stars. He scanned the night sky, mentally noting every constellation he recognized. Over the past few months he had found himself studying the stares more than usual. He'd take what he'd find and report back to his brother his findings.
Space was something the two could bond over when they weren't at each others throats. Mind mapped out the sky once a week and updated Heart on what was visible. It was nice. a part of the week both of them looked forward to.
Mind's pencil dragged across the page, adding detail to his rough sketch of what he saw. It was mostly for his own pleasure. The more he learned about the stars, the more he sketched out constellations. Its not like Heart could see it and he'd never confess to Soul that he enjoyed drawing.
Once please with the information, Mind closed his sketchbook and closed his window. The Sun made his way down the hall to the Moon's room. Just like always, the room was a mess. It was a miracle Heart never got hurt in here, but probably had his own room mapped out at this point.
"[Heart.]" Mind knocked on the door, already having entered the room. He spotted the other sitting on the roof ledge outside where he always waited.
Heart turned his head at the sound of Mind's voice. His wings fluttered and he gave a soft smile towards where he assumed the other was.
"(Apollo! Here already?)" The Moon carefully moved over, making room so the Sun could climb out next to him.
"[It's been dark for a few hours. all I had to do finish my sketch.]" He pulled out his sketchbook, opening it up to the page he left off.
"(Oh look who it is, Mr. Artist has entered the building!)" Heart joked, letting out a chuckle as he heard the papers being flipped. Mind just rolled his eyes knowing full well the other could see it.
"[Haha, very funny. May I start now?]"
"(I swear, you like this more than I do sometimes.)" Heart leaned over to look at sketchbook, pulling his blindfold off to see it just the slightest bit better. Mind's eyes narrowed at the sight. No matter how many times he saw the scars, he would never truly grow used to them.
"[I like to learn, and there's a lot to learn about when it comes go space.]" He looked backed at his sketch, trying to distant his travelling thoughts.
"(Yeah, sure. That's toootaly the only reason.)" The Moon said sarcastically, nudge the other with his elbow. "(Go on, tell me what you saw this week.)"
Mind nodded and read off his notes. He'd occasionally pause to make sure the other was still listening. Heart sat there with an attentive stare, sometimes looking up at the stars when Mind said something he found interesting.
It was going to be another long night, but it would be one the two enjoyed spending together.
