Kat Alvers, more commonly known as Kitty Pryde, was the first one to wake up next morning. She frowned for a fleeting moment, as she saw a ceiling she did not recognize, before remembering the last night and the hours before and smiled so bright, it could have split her face in half.
Hell, yes!
Kat moved her head slowly, saw a still sleeping Lance besides her and moved her body around. Waking up next to a sleeping Lance wasn't the first time for her, though it was the first time as his wife. No one at the Institute knew how far her relationship with Lance had grown, some probably still believed they never went beyond kissing or holding hands but they were about to find out. Lance had booked the room for the whole weekend and both wanted to make the most of it. As much as possible before they had to got back and face their friends. Well, probably facing the Institute mostly.
Here, in Vegas, in a room alone with her husband, Kat could freely think what she otherwise barely dared to: The Brotherhood was far more open-minded regarding their relationship then the Institute was. Sure, most of the Institute would be genuinely happy for her but not all of it. She could practically see Scott losing his shit when he heard the news but could tell him to shut it.
Realization hit and Kat closed her eyes and frowned, barely able to withhold a groan. Telling Scott Summers to shut it would work but what would she tell her parents? Kat pondered over this question for a moment, before she decided to push the thoughts about this away. She would face this problem when the time had come, she decided and not sooner.
That was the moment Lance Alvers blinked and yawned. Kats smile returned and she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek.
“Morning,” she whispered and Lances answer got lost in another yawn, which in turn caused Kat to giggle.
“Sorry. Good morning,” Lance said and set up. Kat sat up too and leaned against him. She could see Lance looking at his ring. She didn't see his face but she could imagine a look of surprise. A surprise of this not being a nice dream.
“We really did it, hm?”
“Looks like it...wanna get up?”
“Probably for the better. Feeling kinda hungry a bit too.”
“Well, wanna go for a little dessert before hitting breakfast?” Kat asked teasingly and got out of bed. She had only managed to get halfway to the shower before she heard Lance almost fumbling over the sheets and cursing. She giggled, louder even, when her husband grabbed her from behind and carried her.
Another thing no one at the Institute knew were the sides of herself that Lance managed to reach. Kitty Pryde had no idea these sides had existed before but Kat Alvers knew about them and loved them.
Breakfast at the motel was something different. Frankly, it didn't exist in the motel itself but in a breakfast restaurant next to it. The restaurant had a nice mixture of colors around orange, beige and light brown. Almost its entire front was made out of glass and Lance and Kat sat down on a small table near the entrance. Each table already had the menu card on it. It was of standard size and printed on both sides.
It didn't take for long for a waitress to show up. Both immediately thought of Tabitha Smith when the waitress came up. Maybe a decade older and with big tits from Uncle Doctor, which were in a white-red uniform whose blouse was only closed on the lower half. She also had a way of eyeing Lance that made Kat want to hiss on her like a cat defending her territory.
“Good morning. I am Deborah. What can I bring you two cuties?”
Lance made a move to signal that Kitty should go first.
“Uh, I am taking two scrambled eggs with french toast and yogurt with fruits and orange juice.”
“Got it.”
“And I am taking three scrambled eggs with smoked bacon and a short stack of banana pancakes. Also orange juice.”
“Alright,” Deborah said and winked at him while turning her back on them.
Kat glared at the waitress as stepped away from their table. Lance chuckled and put a hand on Kats wrist to get her attention. She still glared at the waitress with half an eye but focused mostly on a smiling Lance.
“You know, an angry Kitty is a cute Kitty.”
Kat simply raised an eyebrow and Lance shrugged.
“Yes, I know but Kitty will always have a special place. I love Kat but I love Kitty too.”
Kat smiled, then tilted her head and her smile widened as Lance took a hand and put a kiss on its back. He was so sweet sometimes!
“Oh, well. I guess you can keep calling me Kitty...if you can keep making me purr at night.”
Lance stared at his smiling wife in surprise and noticed how she blushed. There was a moment of akward silence, before Lance coughed and looked out of the window, his expression changing.
“Part of me still can't believe we are actually here.”
“Feared I'd say no? I did answer the first question with a 'yes', after all.”
“Honestly? Yes, partly at least. Not the marrying itself but the idea of eloping.”
Kat chuckled and said: “Well, you did surprise me but you were right. No one knew we were engaged but they had their opinions about us, so why not simply doing it? Besides, eloping has something romantic.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm.”
“By the way, why didn't you tell anyone at the Institute? At least one or two of the girls?”
Kat snorted. Was he serious? Looking at his face, she came to the conclusion that he was.
“Simple: There are now secrets at the Institute, at least no shared ones. As long as it is just me, I can keep it down but the moment I tell even one of them? Maybe save Rogue but otherwise, I might very well make a public announcement anyway. I mean, normally I wouldn't mind. Heck, I actually love that but the absolute last I wanted was my parents hearing anything about that. Now that we are officially married? I am gonna tell them.”
She could see him frowning and gave him a reassuring smile.
“Don't worry. Yes, they are probably not gonna like you, to put it mildly but we are going to manage. I am old enough and even if they dare to pull me out of the Institute, I just move in with you guys.”
Lance blinked and imagined that. He liked that picture, a lot. He also didn't notice how his wife smirked.
“Judging by your face, I'd say you would love that.”
Lance gave the back of Kats hand another kiss and whispered: “Living with you? Absolutely but not necessarily with the Brotherhood.”
Kat starred at him, jaw dawn. Next moment, she leaned closer and both kissed each other over the table. The things Lance had just implied were something she would keep in mind. Sure, she still had plans for the future but if she had to make some adjustments for that? Absolutely worth it.
Then came the realization what she was getting dangerously close to do and Kat pushed all these thoughts away. She liked what she heard but still, not the time to imagine the future. Nothing beyond the point of leaving Vegas that was, not really at least.
“Anything planned for later?” she asked and she could see Lances eyes glowing up.
“Oh yeah. I definitively wanna hit the strip and the casinos later.”
She hadn't even thought of that. The excitement in her eyes and the smile on her face was enough of an answer to make Lance lean forward and both kissed again.
Before either of them could say anything, however, Deborath returned. Kat couldn't help but notice her smile fading just so ever slightly upon seeing their interwoven hands and had to fight hard to not giggle triumphantly.
“Alright you two, here's your breakfast. Hope you like it and if there is anything else, don't hesitate to call me. For 'anything',” Deborah said, winked at Lance and turned around, which meant she couldn't see Kats reaction.
The entrance door was open and the lowest quarter of the front wasn't made of glass but red brick stones and so everyone simply assumed an angry cat outside hissed at someone or something. No one bothered to look the young couple sitting near the entrance and even those who just happened to see them, didn't pay mind to the boys shoulders shaking or the girls face getting buried in her hands.
“This woman was unbelievable!” Kat hissed after they had left the restaurant. She stormed the streets along frowning, Lance having slight troubles in keeping up.
“Have you seen how she eyed you? Should we have waved our rings in her face?”
“Kat.”
“And I totally saw her smile waving when she saw our hands. Yet she still winks at you like she wants you to meet outside!”
“Kat!”
“Who does she think she is? Just because she got big tits from the Doc does not mean she can present them in a uniform like...” Kat ranted on but was stopped mid-sentence when Lance grabbed her wrist, pulled her over and gave her a kiss. By the time she realized, Lance already pulled away and a small demanding moan left her lips, causing Lance to smirk briefly.
“Kitty. You are adorable when you are this angry and jealous,” he said, which caused his wife to groan and open her mouth in protest. Only for Lance to close it with another kiss.
“Lance...I...you...could you stop kissing me?” she said while pushing him away, only to break out in a short giggle afterwards. Lance chuckled, pulled into another hug and Kat gladly cuddled back.
“Feeling better?”
“Yeah...thanks and sorry. I don't know what came over me.”
“Well, you are a married woman now.”
“God, I hope that doesn't happen every time a pretty girl looks at you. I can never bring you to the Institute again. I couldn't stand being angry at Jean or Storm.”
“Well, if it is any comfort to you, neither of them interest me in that way.”
Kat leaned her head back to watch her husbands face and frowned. He just looked back, expression of pure innocence.
“I mean it! Red scares me way too much with what she can do and Storm is old enough to be my mother. I don't have a kink like that.
“Good to know,” she laughed and Lance waited a moment before he continued.
“Jubilee on the other hand or maybe the little Brazilian girl or Rahne...ouch,” he said and hold his shoulder where Kat had boxed him.
“What was that for?”
“For talking about girls like while hugging your wife,” Kat hissed but her eyes were full of humor. Humor and something else and she grabbed his wrist and turned towards their motel.
“Come with me,” she demanded and dragged him behind her.
“Uh, Kat? Kitty?”
“We are going back to our room and don't you dare calling me Kitty again before you made me purr again.”
“During the day?”
Kat stopped and gave her husband a look of disbelief over the shoulder.
“Is that really a problem?” she asked and Lance knew, there was only one answer now. Thank god he had started training his body more seriously a while ago.
“Of course not!”
“I thought as much.”
