Schezo was training in nahe woods when he just so happened to wander close to the comet warlock’s house- not on purpose, of course! He just so happened to catch the smell of something enticingly sweet emanating from his abode.
Ever since Lemres had so rudely entered his cave and devoured his entire (accidentally made) wedding cake, the two if them had been meeting more and more often. Sometimes to bake, sometimes to share battle tips, and sometimes to just hangout together. Though, in Schezo’s case, he would staunchly claim that it was just to get back at him for eating his cake that day. He couldn’t let anyone, especially not Lemres, know that he actually enjoyed his company!
Still, he couldn’t handle the mouthwatering smell of freshly baked goods anymore, and brought his gloved hand to knock at the cabin door. A pause, before a few seconds passed, and Lemres opened the door at last.
“Who is it- Oh, Schezo! What a pleasant surprise! Come on in, i’ve baked some tasty treats today and you’ll be the first to try them.” He moved to the side of the doorway, prompting Schezo to come inside. The comet warlock’s cabin was well-decorated and had a homely atmosphere. There was a surplus of plushies as well, both due to their shared appreciation of cute things and Schezo’s reluctance to keep his own plushies in his cave. “They’ll have a better home here.” He insisted, practically showing the stuffed toy into Lemres’ arms. It seems like he was right, looking fondly at a shelf where they were all lined up with the most adorable little knit clothes Schezo had ever seen. Lemres had tried to teach Schezo how to knit once, and it ended with a very scuffed scarf and Schezo tangled up in a bundle of yarn.
They entered the kitchen and the distinct smell of vanilla just got more prominent- he had to stop his mouth from watering, he hadn’t realised how hungry he was until that moment!
His delight only increased as Lemres pulled out the baked goods, blowing on the cloud of steam that came from the oven. They were cute animal-shaped macarons with perfectly cooked multicoloured shells and some sort of vanilla flavoured fillings.
“No touching it just yet, it’s still hot!” Ah. Schezo hadn’t noticed, but his hand had been reaching out for one of the macarons until Lemres gently swatted his hand away.
“I-I was not touching your macarons! I simply… Wanted to assist you in carrying the tray!” Schezo defended, slight blush creeping onto his face.
“Pfft- sure you were.” He laughed, it was a nice laugh and he couldn’t decide whether to be mad or laugh along. “Anyways, are you free right now?” He asked while placing the tray near a window to cool it.
“Hmph. I was in the middle of training my magic, but… What do you have in mind?” He hated to admit it, but his time spent with Lemres constituted some of his all-time favourite memories. And if he spent sleepless nights thinking about Lemres’ beautiful smile, how he glowed like a star whenever he laughed, how he always smelt like freshly baked sweets.. Well, that was for him to keep a secret till his grave.
“Y’know the new ghibli movie? “The Boy and the Heron”, I think it it was called?” Schezo immediately perked up at the mention of his favourite animation studio. All of their movies, especially “My Neighbour Totoro, held a very special place in his heart.
“Well… I suppose I wouldn’t mind staying for a while- HEY!” To Schezo’s surprise, Lemres had picked him up in a tight but loving hug. To his surprise again, he didn’t feel the urge to wrangle himself out of the embrace like her did with everyone else. Instead, after a moment’s hesitation, he hugged Lemres back, albeit not as hard as him.
“…Is this alright?” Lemres whispered softly, unwilling to break the comfortable silence. Schezo was blushing wildly and it felt like there was a frog in his throat stopping him from speaking- why on earth was he so nervous?! He eventually decided on hugging him tighter hoping that would get the message across. Lemres sighed in contentment before letting go, much to Schezo’s dismay.
“Why’d you-“ He began, before realising how needy he sounded, which he definitely was not! “Ahem. I mean, shall we begin the movie?” He avoided looking at Lemres’ face, lest he thought about how ridiculously sweet his smile was.
The movie was wonderful, albeit a bit sad. (Schezo was sobbing half the time) It was so comfortable, sitting next to Lemres on a plush couch, crunching on perfectly baked macarons, prior training clmpletely left behind.
And maybe he did stay when Lemres asked him to for a movie marathon. Maybe he did stop moving completely when Lemres fell asleep on his shoulder. Maybe he did comb his hand through Lemres’ soft, shiny hair. And maybe he did feel his heart swell up whenever he noticed that telltale scent of vanilla that was a sure sign that Lemres was nearby. And maybe-
Maybe he was in love.
And when he went home that day with a full heart and a full stomach, maybe, just maybe, he was looking forward to meeting Lemres again.
Maybe.
Just maybe.
