Lumine watched as Aether gave her one final look before walking away. She stood frozen in place, her feet glued to the stoney ground below. She forced one heavy foot forward before moving the other until she was full on sprinting towards the abyss portal her brother was half way through. She leapt forward hand spread out in front of her trying desperately to grab hold of his arm and never let go. But instead of coming closer he seemed to only get further away.
So she picked up her pace, never stopping, never looking back to see how far she had actually gone. Just pure running. But Aether left and she hadn’t even caught up and soon the portal was shutting and she hadn’t moved an inch. Lumine felt her breath speeding up from the running her legs burning from running and she let her knees buckle beneath her. She let her lungs fill up with air before opening her mouth to let out a scream but a scream never left her throat.
Lumine’s eyes snapped open and she jolted up from where she lay. She took a panicked glance around before letting out a deep groan into her bedsheets. Lumine was in her bed in her teapot with no Aether in sight. He had left her months ago and she still hadn't pinned his location down.
Sighing she felt the tears well in her eyes. She wasn’t sure if it was exhaustion or just pure sadness but she let them start to fall. It started off slow before they started to form a full waterfall down her cheeks.
“Starlight?” A groggy voice called out to her before he shifted to sit up next to her, “What happened?”
Lumine said nothing before moving to cry into Childe’s shoulder. She said nothing as she felt his arms come to wrap around her. He brushed up and down her arms trying to calm her down.
“I can’t find him” Lumine told him, “I don't know where he is”
“You will find him Lumine” Tartaglia told her instantly knowing who she was referring to, “I know you will”
“I just feel like such a mess” She sniffed, “I can do all this amazing things and I can’t find my own twin”
“Lumi listen to me” He grabbed her chin making her look up at him, “You can’t find someone who doesn’t want to be found”
“But-”
“No but’s stop being so hard on yourself” He kissed the side of her head, “You have done everything you could you now might have to wait for him to find you”
Lumine didn’t say anything; she just moved to lay down in bed bringing Tartaglia down with her. She shifted so she was in his arms once again before trying to go back to sleep. He may be right, Aether might not want to be found and that pains her deeply. She would need to think about this again when it wasn’t the middle of the night. But for now she just wanted to rest.
