Chapter Text
“I’ll bet you ten bucks you couldn’t get a date by Saturday for the party.”
Percy rolled his eyes at Leo. They were hanging out by his desk, waiting for the teacher to come to the classroom.
“Oh, please. Yeah I could. Everyone loves me.” He flipped his hair dramatically.
“Nah, you’re confusing yourself with me,” Leo grinned, “no one really likes you, you know, since you’re kinda rude.”
“Yeah, because you’re just Mr. Kindness Fluffy Rainbows, right?”
“Eh, more so than you.”
Percy fidgeted restlessly with his pen, “fine. I’ll take the bet just to prove you wrong.”
“Fine. But how about I sweeten the deal?”
“How so?”
“If you let me pick the girl, and you can get her to go on at least three more dates with you, I’ll make it fifteen bucks.”
“Twenty five and you’ve got a deal.”
“Fine.” Leo scoured the classroom. Suddenly, when they stopped, his eyes twinkled with mischief.
“Her,” he gestured to a girl on the other side of the room.
She was fairly pretty. She had blonde hair and deep gray eyes. Her hair was pulled back into a sandy ponytail. She was talking to Piper, Leo’s best friend. Percy scoured his memory for her name.
“Annabeth Chase?”
“Great, you know her. This should be fun.”
When he remembered what Annabeth was like, Percy understood why Leo picked her.
Since there was no way in fucking hell his polar opposite would go out with him.
“Chase,” Piper pestered.
“What do you want?” Annabeth asked as she doodled on her notes, waiting for the teacher to arrive.
“I’m bored,” she said in a sing-song voice.
“What do you want me to do about it?” Annabeth asked without looking up from her paper.
“Cold. Anyways, how about we play truth or dare? Mr. Brunner’s late, we have time.”
Annabeth nodded, “sure, whatever. Truth or dare?”
Piper made a humming sound while swinging her feet beneath the chair. Wow, she really was just as ADHD as her.
“Truth.”
“Boring. Ok, um, who was your first kiss?”
“Easy. Jason Grace.”
“Huh? I thought you were gay?”
“No shit, Chase. It was before I came out.”
“So interesting,” Annabeth said in her monotone, sarcastic voice.
“Rude. Truth or dare?”
“Dare.” She mumbled.
Piper got a glint in her eyes.
“You’ve already got one planned, haven’t you?”
“Oh hell yes,” she grinned, “I dare you to… ask out the next student that walks through the door. To my party on Saturday.”
Annabeth looked up from her paper, “no.”
“You can’t back out on a dare, Chase.”
She groaned, waiting anxiously for the door to open.
Piper snickered.
And of course, in came waltzing, Percy Jackson. The most annoying fucking person ever.
When the bell finally rang and Mr. Brunner’s class was over, Percy tensed as he made his way over to Annabeth. At the same time, she seemed to be walking in his direction.
“Hey, Percy, right?” She started the conversation first.
“Yeah. And you’re Annabeth?”
She nodded.
“Me and Leo were just talking about this party on Saturday, and-”
Annabeth cleared her throat.
“What?”
“It’s Leo and I, not me and Leo.”
“Ok, grammar police. Anyways, me and Leo-”
“Leo and I.”
“Me and Leo.
“Leo and I.”
“Me and Leo.”
“Leo and I.”
“Me and Leo.”
“Me and Leo.”
“Leo and I.”
“Fine, if you say so.”
Percy slapped his forehead, “weirdo.”
“Aw, you’re such a charmer.”
“Right back at you.”
“Well in that case, do you want to go on a date with me? Saturday, 8:00, Piper McLean’s party. I’ll send you the details.”
“Wait, hold up. I was gonna ask you out to that party.”
“Maybe do a better job next time.”
“I was doing fine till you interrupted me.”
“Was not.”
“Was too.”
“Was not.”
“Was too.”
“Was too.”
“Was not- fuck!”
“See you there, Percy.”
“Looking forward to it, wise girl.”
