Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Mobius

One thousand years ago

He runs through the woods, the rain soaking his clothes. Albert comes to a sudden stop as he reaches the base of a cliff. He turns, scowling as a group of Mobians close in on him. “I'll kill you all!” He shouts, pulling a dagger from his belt. “Take it easy, kid.” One of his pursuers says calmly. “It's no use struggling. You're surrounded.” Another says.

Albert points his dagger at them, scowling fiercely. Someone grabs him from behind, pressing a cloth against his mouth. Albert tries to struggle, but his limbs feel useless and weak. “I'll kill…all of you…” He says weakly before collapsing.

“Bring him to the Prism. It shall decide his fate.”

“Yes sir.”

The next time Albert awakens, he finds his wrists cuffed, and a pair of soldiers dragging him towards the Prism. “Let me go, you filthy animals.” He growls, struggling in their grasp. “You would be wise to keep quiet, Albert. The Prism doesn't take well to such disrespect.” One of the soldiers tells him.

Albert narrows his eyes. “Fleabags.” He hisses. In an instant, the soldiers throw him to the floor. Albert looks up, his eyes widening at the sight of the Paradox Prism. The multicolored light travels across its surface, a strand reaching for him. “Do not resist.” A soldier says firmly.

As the light touches him, it grows dark and begins to violently sizzle and crackle like lightning. “I've never seen anything like it.” One of the soldiers says as screams fill the air. “His heart is nothing but darkness.” He says. “We must get him off this world. It's the only way to end the war.” The other soldier agrees. “But shouldn't we speak with the queen first? “ The first soldier asks. “No. This matter is far too urgent. This boy cannot be allowed to stay here.”

The second soldier looks at Albert. “Do we kill him?” He asks, pointing a spear at the boy. The Prism shakes a few times, light flashing across its surface as a large portal opens up. The soldiers look at one another. “Banishment. It's not what I would do, but if the Prism decides it is necessary, then so be it.” He says.

Albert is grabbed again, and he struggles to break free. “You'll regret this!” He shouts. “I'll be back, and when I am, I'll kill all of you, and take the Prism for myself!” He tells them. One of the soldiers smirks. “Goodbye, Human Scum, and good riddance.” He says. “Now you can be someone else's problem.” The second soldier adds, pushing Albert into the portal, and light fills his vision.

Albert groans. His eyes flutter open, and he finds a young fox kit standing beside him. “Who are you?” She asks, tilting her head. Albert narrows his eyes, his hand curling around the handle of his dagger. He thrusts it forward, and the sharp blade sinks into the girl's chest. The girl screams but is quickly silenced as he sends the dagger through her windpipe.

He makes quick work of her, repeatedly stabbing her with his dagger. He stands above her, watching as blood pools out onto the grass. Albert places his dagger into its sheath and steps over her body. He brushes dirt off his uniform, making his way through the trees.

When he reaches a clearing, he pauses, staring out at the thousands of villages below. He squints, his expression souring as he sees the Mobians below. “I'll kill you all.” He growls. “Mark my words, fleabags.”
