Work Text:
Priya was so tired.
All she wanted to do was get to her cabin and flop down onto the bed.
She was practically dragging herself there with her eyes closed. With a sigh, she got to her room.
Taking a glance at her bed–
She screamed at the top of her lungs. Jumped back. Covered her mouth and leaned against whatever was behind her, knocking things down in the process.
Priya clutched her chest, hyperventilating as light tears pricked in her eyes. She didn’t mean to cry, but that was an instinct when she was both so scared and confused.
Needless to say, she was wide awake now.
Millie, who had said she was going for a walk, now ran into the cabin not too soon after. “Priya! What happened?!” She put an arm around her.
Priya stuttered out an answer as she pointed at the bed with a shaking hand. “S-S-S-... SQUIRREL! DEAD SQUIRREL! ON MY PILLOW!”
“Dead squirrel?” Millie then got a look at it. “Oh! Ew…”
The two felt best to step outside. Still not knowing how to get rid of it, but having more questions beyond that.
“At least it was already dead?” Millie shrugged.
“That doesn’t make it any better! And did you see how… gross and bloody– eugh – it was?! It didn’t just so happen to die of a heart attack on my bed!”
“What are you saying? You think someone put it there?”
“Exactly! Maybe this was someone trying to get back at me. But who… And why.” Priya put a finger under her chin in deep thought.
“I dunno. The last person in there was Scary Girl.”
“...Scary Girl…?”
Scary Girl sat in the confessional.
“Gift-giving is my love language! Right after biting. And I’ve already bitten Priya before, so this was the next best thing!” She explained gleefully.
“Although, I’m still not sure she understands how I feel about her…” She furrowed her brows. “How much clearer does it get than leaving a dead squirrel on her pillow?! I might as well propose at this point!”
