Chi-Chi hummed to herself as she walked side by side with Goku out the front door. Each puff of their breath was visible in the air. Chi-Chi linked her arm with his to get some warmth.
Even if the morning was chilly, there was nothing better than taking walks with him while he wasn't busy training.
Chi-Chi shivered when they passed under the shadow of the tree outside their front door. It was completely devoid of its leaves which were sitting in a massive pile that Chi-Chi made Goku rake.
“Chi-Chi…” Goku whispered suddenly.
“What is it, honey?” she asked, smiling.
With a cheeky grin, Goku pushed her into the pile of leaves with a single hand. Chi-Chi yelped as she tumbled onto her back, landing softly inside the bed of leaves. They devoured her completely like quicksand. Chi-Chi sprouted out of the pile, leaves strewn throughout her hair.
“Goku!” she fumed.
But she had no time to get onto his case before he leaped after her into the pile. Leaves splashed her face like water. Goku's head popped out, hair turned orange from the sheet of leaves that stuck to it.
"I always wanted to do that," he giggled.
Chi-Chi’s face softened. I could never stay mad at you, Goku.
“Look at you, your hair's even more of a mess now,” Chi-Chi said gently, shuffling on her knees through the leaves to help pick them out.
Goku allowed her to, but she could tell by the grin on his face that he was planning something else.
He pounced at her, wrapping his strong arms around her waist. They both fell deeper into the pile. The leaves devoured her again, surrounding her vision with nothing but orange shapes.
“Goku!” she laughed.
He nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck.
Chi-Chi snorted when he pressed a kiss to her skin. Then he snuck in another.
“You’re tickling me!” she squealed.
“Am I?” he murmured. He attacked her with a barrage of kisses.
Chi-Chi cackled with laughter as she fought against his ruthless ambush.
“Stop it!” she howled with tears in her eyes.
“Alright, alright, I’ll stop,” Goku said. He flipped onto his back and hoisted her onto his chest.
Chi-Chi didn't hesitate to snuggle into him. The leaves were like a blanket in the chilly autumn air, and Goku was her warm teddy bear.
Goku sighed contentedly after a few beats of silence. “Can we forget about taking a walk?” he mumbled into the top of her head, his hand rubbing up and down the small of her back.
“Mhm,” Chi-Chi murmured, nuzzling her cheek into his chest and listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
There was nowhere else she wished to be.
