Work Text:

When the Life Series don't end naturally, the admin in charge of the server just deletes them.

Of course, they make sure that all the participants are fine beforehand. They ask around if it's okay, and quadruple check that everyone will get sent back to their respective places. In most cases, Hermitcraft.

This case was a quick runthrough of an idea that Grian had, which wasn't meant to last more than a day or two. They'd start the actual run through later, when a few things were tweaked so it could run smoother.

That means that Xisuma had to delete the current world, running through and making sure the others were all safe and fine.

Grian and Scar were huddled in Grian's, apparently temporary, home, having put their "fight" aside, knowing now that it was pointless to try and carry on the bit.
Something about Scar killing one of Grian's pigs, he can't recall anymore. Didn't matter though, because the void was closing in on them, and fast.

It scared Scar, honestly, every time it did. He knew that they'd be safe, Xisuma wouldn't let anything happen to them, but still. Watching the world crumble around you has got to traumatize you.

Some just took the chance to jump off the edges of the world, wanting to get back to Hermitcraft as soon as possible and not have to watch the world fade out in front of them. Scar never did.

A part of him wanted to get it over with, sure, but he found jumping off was scarier than just.. waiting for it to swallow him. Grian usually jumped, but this time.. he waited. He waited by Scar's side.

They were sat next to one another on the hardwood floor, in front of the chimney that was currently lit up. The world was peaceful, just them two. No sounds beside the crickets and other nocturnal animals, and the world itself. Even the crumbling was softer now, Scar having found it easier to block out.

Grian wrapped one of his wings around Scar, holding him close. He knew that this calmed Scar down, and he knew how nervous the end of servers like this had made him.

" You okay? " Grian softly questioned, looking over to his left. Scar nodded, his gaze still set on the fire crackling in front of them.
" Yeah, " Scar sighed, blinking for a moment. " Just.. thinking. "
" Bout what? " Grian hummed, scooting himself just a little closer to Scar. " You can tell me. " Scar sighed, shaking his head a little.
" It's.. just what i always think about. " Scar chuckled softly.

" Well, still, " Grian matched him, chuckling. " You can get it off your chest, if that'd make you feel any better. " He offered, moving a hand to rest on Scar's leg, gently rubbing it.

" It's just.. I guess, a fear of dying? Like, I know that we're gonna wake back up in Hermitcraft, but.. " Scar frowned, " But it's still so.. so real. That moment when you're falling and you don't know what waits you- but you do know! You know what'll happen, and you've done this so many times before.. "

Scar sighed, leaning over and resting his head in his hands. " I don't know why I can't just.. jump, and get it over with, like.. like everyone else. " Grian nodded, listening intently.

" You shouldn't push yourself, " Grian hummed, " Even if you think you should. It's not.. mandatory, for you to. If it was, Xisuma would've yelled at you for it long ago, " Grian laughed softly. " Or, he'd close the void in faster. "
" I almost wished he would, " Scar sighed. " Just so I don't have to sit here before I make my mind up that this isn't dangerous. "

Grian fell silent for a moment, his own line of sight going to stare into the flames of the fire. " You trust Xisuma, yeah? " Scar nodded.
" With my life, " He chuckled, kind of finding that response funny in this situation.

" Then, what's got you so nervous for? You trust Xisuma, you know he wouldn't kill you on purpose or anything, " Scar looked to his left, away from Grian.

" I don't know. That's what I'm so.. confused, about. "

Grian hummed, patting Scar's leg. " How 'bout I play some music? " He hummed. " Learned a song on guitar, just for this. "

Scar looked at Grian, smiling softly. " That'd be nice. "
Grian stood in response, moving his wings from where they held Scar. He went to another room and got his guitar, sitting back down in his prior spot.

He made sure it was still tuned, and began to strum. The song he started to play was quite nice, Scar thought, and did its job of keeping him calm.

After a few minutes of it, Grian put the guitar down.
" The void's about here, " He softly spoke, wrapping a wing around Scar once more. " You ready, you think? "
Scar slightly nodded. " ..As I'll ever be,, " He sighed.

Grian smiled and moved closer to the other, wrapping him in a warm embrace. " Close your eyes, if it'll help. You might not even feel it. "

Scar did as Grian suggested, wrapping his arms around the other.
And, he was right. He didn't even notice when they had started to fall.
