Work Text:

Fox stared at the creature for a long moment. And it too, was staring right back at Fox.

But, was Fox afraid of it?

He did not seem to be as it was as if on some level, Fox knew the creature?

As to the how or why, well it was open for debate. But scared was not the word in Fox’s mind at the moment the two souls had met. As it was another soul right? Fox liked to think so.

The creature’s outlook was, different, hideous coming to mind. Alas, it had its appeal, being almost gorgeous in all its crookedness, the tentacles long, winding, the face, if it was one, distorted.

And yet there was something drawing Fox to the creature.

Wanting to get closer, to really look at it, to get a sense of what it was, to… touch it. To feel if it was really real and not just a mirage, some concoction of Fox’s confused imagination.

The creature must have sensed it too, Fox’s inner most thoughts. As despite Fox being unable to move from his spot, the creature took a few steps forward. Ending up standing toe to toe, face to face with Fox. Its breath on Fox’s as it towered over him.

Fox was frozen in his footfalls, his breathing halted as he stared into he several eyes of the creature. Not really sure where to look or was it even allowed to stare into the eyes of it.

But then.

“Don’t be afraid. You know who I am don’t you.”

The words echoing in Fox’s head, as the creature did not have a mouth to speak with.

Fox reached out, touching the creature. As he did, it spoke again.

“Feels good, right?”

Fox nodded, closing his eyes.

“I am, you, Fox.”
