Work Text:

Lyney and Kinich were leaving the village, going to the forest to have some... Time alone. In the quiet night, surrounded by moon lit wildlife. Lyney enjoyed the difference from here to Fountaine.

The magician and Saurian hunter were drawn to each other, at least that’s what the traveler (who knows nothing about the extension of their relationship) says, being different both physically and mentally. Lyney couldn’t agree more.

They were walking hand in hand. Lyney talking about his life in Fontaine while Kinich listened intently. Lyney always worries he may be talking too much, but Kinich reassures him every time that he likes to hear the magician speak. And Lyney seemed to enjoy talking, so what better duo to be paired together. He did have a sister who also preferred to listen than talk, but Lynette lacks reactions, unlike Kinich. The hunter chuckles at his jokes and always looks at him like he wants to know more.

"It was terrifying, really. You can't imagine my surprise and horror when I heard the tank fall and burst open. Mine and Lynette's carrier would be over if we ended up in the Fortress o-"

"KINICH!"

Lyney startled when he heard a very annoying and annoyed voice interrupting him.

Kinich had slapped Ajaw to Celestia in the beginning of the night, it seemed he made his way back, unfortunately.

"Kinich! How dare you drag me into your pathetic human courting ritual?! The great and mighty K’uhul Ajaw will not stand such nonsense!" Ajaw yelled in Kinich's face while the other waited in annoyance for the almighty asshole to shut up.

Lyney watched the interaction with annoyance at Ajaw. They had met, but not yet in these circumstances.

Lyney, much like everyone else, despised Ajaw, finding him obnoxious and rude. There were times Lyney applauded internally to some insults considering its creativity. But that was it.

Maybe it's time to use a bit of helpful magic.

"Hello there Ajaw." Lyney started, considering Ajaw hadn't even acknowledged him. "Say, do you fancy seeing a magic trick?" He asked, pulling a few cards from his sleeve expertly and shuffling them with ease.

Ajaw stopped shouting at Kinich to now look at him with the equivalent of a raised brow and pixelated steam coming out of his head.

"Why would I, The Almighty Dragonlord, K’uhul Ajaw care for your puny tricks of moronic pretend magic?" He crossed his pixel arms, annoyed. “The matter at hand is Kinich not being dead yet!”

Kinich cut in with that last sentence.

“That’s always the matter to you isn’t it?” He narrowed his eyes at the little freak. Which started up a staring contest.

"Well then, that's too bad." Lyney shrugged and picked a blank card from the deck, passing his arm between Ajaw and Kinich in a quick and smooth motion.

The action was used for illusion tricks, but Lyney knew his way well around his craft. Once finished, he twirled the card in his fingers and faced the side with Ajaw’s printed features to Kinich, waiting for his reaction.

He saw as Kinich's eyes widened as he looked from the now empty space to the card in Lyney's hand with Ajaw on it.

The dendro user was stunned silent for a few more seconds before looking Lyney in the eyes and blurting out:

"Please marry me." He quickly brought a hand to his mouth, flushing red with realization of what he just said.

Lyney only chuckled, giving the card to Kinich.

"Perhaps one day, for now though, let us enjoy some peace and quiet." He winked, reaching out to brush a strand of hair behind Kinich's ear. Hand coming down with a rainbow rose and offering it to Kinich.

Kinich on the other hand flushed at the gesture and words Lyney spoke.

He took the unfamiliar flower.

"How did you do it?" Kinich asked, following along as Lyney motioned to keep walking. Lyney knew Kinich was asking about the Ajaw disappearance, however...

"A magician never reveals his secrets." He brought a finger to his mouth in a silencing gesture. "Tell when you want him free though." He reached out for Kinich's hand.

The Saurian hunter chuckled lightly, lacing their fingers together.

"The maximum amount of time possible. I rather like the silence." He smiled up at Lyney before looking down at the flower. “By the way, where did you get this flower?” He asked curiously. It wasn’t from Natlan he was sure, so how did the magician have one?

“Didn’t you see it? From behind your ear!” He explained playfully, chuckling at Kinich’s unimpressed expression.
