CfV week day 3 Magic AU

Summary:

Gaily is bored being limited to using one magic spell so she wants to try learn a new one after a lot of trail and error before.

Notes:

I don't read or watch a lot of media with magic so just wrote what came to mind.

Work Text:

Gaily was deep in some nearby woods with a cauldron set up with bottles of glitter and water sitting next to her where she was. It was starting to get dark but still light enough to give her time to hopefully get out before it got hard to see.

“I hope this works as any other time I have tried to use my magic to make this glitter spell work. It has literally blown up and covered this forest in pure glitter and it took forever to try to get rid of. Then extra work trying to get it out of my clothes as well.” She spoke out loud as no one else was around and she knew there were no animals around as she wouldn't have risked it again. Which is why she always came to this part of the forest.

She poured the glitter into her favourite cauldron as she kept up with her witch vibes and theme. She had to attach string to her hat to keep it on especially on windy days. As it was bigger than she expected but she liked having a hat that was too big for her.

Gaily poured some water into the cauldron with the glitter and mixed them together with a stick she found walking to the area of the forest. As she stirred it the water became sparkly with the glitter like it always did when she had tried before.

After it got to the point of being stiff and sparkly Gaily put the stick down after wiping it down and put the bottles into her bag she carried them in. She decided not to have a heat source under the cauldron as last time she tried that it went horribly compared to other times without it.

She took out a tin case from her bag and opened it. It looked like there was a regular stick in it but it was her own source of magic. She didn't know how it was as she just found it in the mail one day. Gaily did question about taking it at first but it never caused any issues. It actually helped her in her daily life to levitate things hard to reach for her. Gaily wasn't able to do much else so she decided to try to make magic herself so she wanted to try a glitter spell in case it came in handy.

She dipped the tip of the stick wand into the glitter mixture as she assumed for her to be able to use something with glitter using her wand. If it could absorb something she wants to turn into magic as there were no instructions on learning magic and there were no real books. So she had to keep it a secret as well as there would be a lot of questions and had to hope no one would see her.

“Alright then stick…I mean wand don't make a glitter explosion this time please just absorb it or whatever you need to do.” Gaily didn't want to have to levitate the sticky glitter off the trees trees again trying to hide the thick glitter slime as it was a pain a lot of the time.

She waited for something to happen. After a few minutes her stick didn't cause any reaction with the glitter like it normally would. “What am I doing wrong I wonder..Ah!” She realised something she had forgotten about that she hadn't done yet that she did before.

She had to say a random phrase as it didn't seem to matter. Gaily assumed it would matter from anything she read that contained anything magic related, they always had the same name for spells but it didn't seem to be the case as when she improvised her levitation spell seemed to work no matter what. So she thought maybe a chant would let her learn new magic.

Gaily thought for a bit. “Let's see….how about this. Glitter, glitter shimmer and sparkle may you work with me tonight.” The glitter started to bubble like it did other times she had attempted it but this time it wasn't as aggressive. The low amount of glitter in the cauldron started getting lower and disappear. Gaily held her breath hoping this is how it worked. Once the glitter all disappeared her wand didn't seem any different appearance wise she looked at it confused. Gaily thought she might have done something wrong.

Gaily shook her wand hoping maybe something would happen to no avail. She decided to try saying something in hopes it just needed a word to use it if it did work. She pointed her wand at her bag to test it out. “Ummmm… Glitter Glow!” She shouted as she closed her eyes in hopes that it would work.

She waited a bit to open her eyes to look as much as she wanted to see it work. She slowly opened one nervous to see if it worked. She quickly opened both as she saw the last bit of glitter slowly fall onto her bag making it barely sparkle. Gaily had a big smile as she used it again keeping her eyes open to watch it this time as a small ball of light appeared from her wand. It went to her bag and glitter fell onto her bag again.

“Yessssssss it worked!” Gaily was happy with the result of it as he grabbed her bag keeping the glitter side away from her clothes so it wouldn't rub off onto her clothes and grabbed her cauldron while making sure everything was tidied up.

Gaily left the forest clearing putting the stick wand back into her case and into her bag again. She was looking forward to leaning new magic again some point in the future.
