"I warned you."
Calysto glared up at the leering guard, fury written over every feature.
"I warned all of you that this would happen. Out of everyone, you should have known best, godling."
Calysto spit at Hail's feet, blood in his teeth.
"You're a fucking bastard. Go fuck yourself."
Hail had the audacity to laugh at him, like Calysto was the one who set up a trap with fifty fucking guards to catch one person. If Cal had put that much effort into catching someone without even being there, he wouldn't dare gloat about it like some sort of victor. It was shameful, in every sense of the word.
Though, Hail had shown enough times that he didn't feel shame, anymore. No honorable man would pull the kind of stunts he did.
Hail came down from his hacky, ugly laugh with a sadistic glint in his eye.
"Gods, you're pathetic." He lowered himself into a squat, to come eye to eye with the newly captured prisoner. "You and all your little friends. Jokes, all of you. You're lucky the crowd likes you, or we would have killed you all off back when you first started conspiring to escape."
Calysto refused to move. Refused to give Hail any indication that his words were felt. Had the bars between them and chains on his figure been null, Cal would have thrown himself at his capturer with no regard for the consequences. He had half the mind to do so regardless.
(Pathetic? You want to talk about pathetic? You spinless coward, brainless fool, thoughtless-)
Hail grinned eerily, and his hand came up to tangle in Calysto's hair, yanking him up to look him in the eye. The freezing cold of his fingers did nothing to alleviate the sting of the pull. Calysto grimaced, but didn't make a sound.
"Maybe we'll kill y'all anyways." The man crooned, mockingly, "Start with the newest 'nd work our way up. It'd save the rest of us some trouble, hm?"
Calysto wished he'd been grabbed by the chin so he could bite the bastard's fingers off. As it were, he had nothing to do except grit his teeth.
Seeing that he wasn't getting the response he wanted, Hail hummed. He tightened his grip, and slammed Calysto's head into the bars.
Standing with yet another mocking laugh, Hail left without so much as another word.
Leaving Calysto to press his aching head into the cool bars, blood making it stick to the rusted metal.
He let out a shaky sigh, hoping beyond hope that his friends would be able to get here soon. He didn't know how much more he could take.
