Work Text:

Draken had no right to be mad at him, okay? Why would he need to be so furious when Mitsuya did nothing wrong?

Draken was his friend, best friend even.

Draken was not his boyfriend.

Why would he have to be so angry? It didn't make any sense. Draken had never cared about any of this before, why would he start now?

"What the fuck, Draken?"

Mitsuya rarely swore unless necessary, and it was even less when it came to his friends. But Draken had been so infuriating and Mitsuya needed to let out this emotion.

"Draken, fucking stop right now!"

Draken was always slightly stronger than Mitsuya, and he had never tried to hurt him on purpose, but the way he was grabbing Mitsuya's wrist and dragging him almost felt like torture.

Draken didn't listen. He didn't even look back, he didn't even budge. Mitsuya had attempted to pull himself off his grip, but the grip only tightened. So tight that it started burning, even through the clothes.

"What the fuck is your problem?"

Mitsuya was no longer worried if his sweater got stretched out and ruined. He resorted to matching Draken's step, and when he was close enough, he swung his leg towards Draken's, to trip him.

Draken got way too perfect reflex to be fooled by his trick, but Mitsuya needed him to lose his focus for a second so that he could escape.

He yanked his hand.

Unprepared for the action, Draken let him slip away.

He was too surprised to react, that he didn't even struggle when Mitsuya turned the situation around by pushing him rather hard on the wall of the alley they currently passed.

"What the fuck is going on with you?" Mitsuya snarled, using his arm to pin Draken by his chest.

Screw their height difference, Mitsuya could be menacing if he wanted. He didn't become the Captain of Second Division for nothing.

Draken was stronger, and bigger, and taller, but Mitsuya was outraged. His anger made him more terrifying.

Of course, it did not affect Draken, not even a bit.

Draken didn't fight back, but he didn't seem like he was gonna give Mitsuya any explanation soon. Knowing he was more advantageous, he preferred to look away, directing his eyes to anywhere above Mitsuya's black lilac hair.

Mitsuya didn't soften his movement, as he kicked Draken's shin as hard as he could.

Fortunately, that one worked.

Draken groaned, falling forward on the impact.

Now, Mitsuya got his attention.

"There's more from where it comes from." Mitsuya threatened. "I biked lately. My legs can do this all night. Right and left, full force."

For some reason, the words finally got into Draken's thick skull, prompting him to snort.

"Explain now."

Draken huffed, leaning against the wall.

"I don't like him," he sneered. "He sucks."

Mitsuya kicked him again without warning.

Draken yelped in pain, but he continued. "If you open your eyes, you'll see how awful he is, Mitsuya!"

Another kick.

"Are you gonna really date him? Don't you see you are just another blanket to keep him warm in his lonely night?"

Mitsuya wasn't prone to violence, but he had his fill of trying to be peaceful today.

So, yes.

Another kick.

"Why the hell that matters to you?"

Draken had no right to be so opinionated towards something completely unrelated to him. Why would he get to be so judgemental like Mitsuya didn't know better?

Draken was his friend, best friend even.

Draken was not his boyfriend.

Why would he have to be this excessively cautious? It didn't make any sense. Draken had never cared about any of this before, why would he start now?

"I like him, that's what's important," Mitsuya pressed his arm harder. Draken didn't budge, but it was like he let Mitsuya do this because he wanted to, not because Mitsuya intimidated him. Not even close. That pissed him off more. "He's a great guy. I know him. You met him for five seconds, and you think, you know him better?"

Draken scoffed. "I did know better. People always took advantage on you, Mitsuya. That guy's no exception. Did you see how his eyes roaming to the girls at the bar? And no, I don't mean like your eyes when you're browsing for fabrics. His eyes were a honeyed trap, and you fell straight into it."

In another situation, Mitsuya would laugh at Draken's logic.

Now all he had ever wanted was to punch him on the nose.

Screw him.

All of those reasonings made zero senses.

If Draken truly cared, he wouldn't embarrass Mitsuya like that.

"Oh, so, your brilliant scenario to 'save' me is," Mitsuya emphasized one particular word with such disdain, ensuring Draken that he did not appreciate him at all. "to fucking kiss me?"

Draken gulped down like he knew he got caught red-handed doing something wrong, but he still didn't look into Mitsuya's way.

"You decided, since you know me the best, it'll be okay to 'save' me no matter how twisted and sick your way is? 'Oh, Mitsuya will appreciate this! I'm doing him a favor!' is that what you were thinking? That I am not capable of saving myself, that you could just swoop in?"

Draken didn't answer.

"Fucking answer me."

Draken shut his mouth even tighter.

Mitsuya pulled the black hair that framed Draken's face.

It got him the reaction it needed, even if the shriek was not particularly what he aimed for, at least Mitsuya knew he was on the right path.

Draken yelped when Mitsuya experimented again.

"Speak."

"So what if I think you're incapable of choosing the nice guys to date?" Draken finally looked down to him, his expression hardened. "You're a great guy, Mitsuya, but you fucking suck when it comes to getting a good guy to date. I'm just helping you out."

Draken had no right to do that, okay?

Why would he care that much, even went to this length to merely make sure Mitsuya wasn't picking up the wrong guy?

Draken was his friend, best friend even.

Draken was not his boyfriend.

Why would he have to be so angry if Mitsuya was terrible in the dating department? It didn't make any sense. Draken had never cared about any of this before, why would he start now?

And there were millions of ways to show that his worry was genuine. Mitsuya could make a very, very, very long list to prove his point.

And yet, it only took one line in a list of 'Things You Shouldn't Do To Your Best Friend.'

Don't kiss them.

"So you think it's okay to fucking kiss me to get me out of the situation?"

But Draken did.

To save Mitsuya from the scam-like relationship.

But still.

Draken kissed him.

And he didn't want to acknowledge it.

Mitsuya wasn't so stupid to not know the implications behind the action. But also, it was Draken, you know?

His friend, his best friend, his—

"If that's the only way to make you see, I've been here all along, why not?"

Mitsuya frowned. "What the fuck does it mean?"

Draken huffed, almost in a disappointed way.

"You're so fucking stupid, Mitsuya," was all Mitsuya managed to hear from his mouth before Draken finally used his strength and turned the situation around.

Literally.

Grabbing Mitsuya's face so firmly, it was almost hurt, and yet the touch of his lips was so gentle, despite the force they carried.

In a very swift movement, Draken backed Mitsuya to the wall on the other side of the alley, without unlatching himself off Mitsuya.

And Mitsuya was furious.

And Mitsuya was enraged.

And Mitsuya was mad—ly in love with Draken for almost the half of his life, thinking that his feelings were unrequited and could potentially ruin their friendship.

This kiss, despite the aggression from which it was generated, was so much different than the one Draken stole from him at the bar earlier.

This kiss, despite the pressure it brought upon with, was rather freeing.

This kiss, despite how performative it seemed, had no audience but himself and Draken.

What the fuck are you doing, Mitsuya should say.

And yet.

Against his logic, despite his brain screaming 'no,' Mitsuya still caved in.

What the fuck am I doing?

"Fuck you, Draken," Mitsuya managed to slip the words out, but Draken drank them off Mitsuya's lips like the curse was a fine-aged wine, overflowing.

Draken had no right, okay?

He had no right—

"Screw it, Mitsuya," Draken panted against his open mouth. "Go out with me."

Mitsuya put his hands on Draken's hips, pulling him closer before he kicked him hard on the shin.

"Ouch! What was that!"

"Next time, just ask me out like normal people!"

"I don't even know if you're gonna be on board with me—"

Another kick.

Another yelp.

"There's this thing called 'asking,' ever heard of it?"

Draken had no right to turn his world upside down with one single action, okay? How could he do everything as he please?

Because he was Mitsuya's friend, his best friend?

Because he was always more than that?

Then and now?

"Sorry, Mitsuya," Draken dropped his head on Mitsuya's shoulder, wrapping his arm around his waist. If it was only his trick to avoid being kicked—

"Sorry, I never have the courage. I can't believe I almost lost you to that slimy dickhead," he inhaled deeply before he lifted his head to stare right into Mitsuya's eyes.

"I know I have no right to be jealous, but I am. And it's because I am such a coward when it comes to you. I don't want to go through that again," he cleared his throat. "Geez, I know I got all of this so backwards, but I was very serious when I said, Mitsuya, would you like to go on a date with me?"

Mitsuya didn't respond.

"If you're gonna say no, please don't kick me."

Eerily silence.

Until Mitsuya kicked him.

Draken groaned in exaggeration, but as he fell forward, he couldn't help to grin rather stupidly.

"So, it's not a no."

Mitsuya rolled his eyes.

The smile that bloomed after betrayed the gesture.
