Sailor Miko

Summary:

Tsukino Kagome had a simple life. A nice family, a good school, small group of friends.

And then everything changed when her little sister trampled over a talking cat. Now her life was filled with monsters, and magic, and what would possibly become the romance of a lifetime.

Chapter Text

Kagome tapped her foot as she waited by the door. Honestly, her little sister was such a lazy slowpoke. She turned to her relaxing mother and pouted, “Mom! School is gonna start soon!”

Her little brothers, Shingo and Souta, were both at the table, practically inhaling their breakfast at equal speeds. Frankly, their behavior was more twin-like than their appearance. Their family was full of diverse appearances, such that there were many who didn’t think they were related.

Kagome resembled her stepfather more than anyone else, which was shocking to most people who didn’t know them. Kenji had black hair and eyes, while her mother had curly brown hair, which Souta inherited along with her brown eyes.

Shingo and Usagi both had blonde hair and blue eyes, which came from their father’s maternal side, as he had a mixed background.

Kagome, meanwhile, had raven hair, which she got from her mother’s side, being a similar shade to her grandfather’s when he was young.

There were similarities, as Kagome shared blue eyes with her two blonde siblings, though they were a different shade as she got them from her biological father, who passed away before she was born.

But most people were thrown off by the more obvious differences, typically assuming Usagi and Shingo were the stepchildren of their father, rather than her.

“Usagi! You’re going to be late!” Her mother called out as she placed a bowl down for their cat, Buyo. The fat feline mewed happily, not wasting a second to begin munching away at his food.

The following squeal and thumping from above told them that the girl finally got up and was hurrying to get ready for school. Their grandfather huffed, “She’d lose her head if it wasn’t attached to her body.”

“Maybe she was possessed by demons” Kagome teased him, as the old monk was known to immediately presume that to be the explanation for anything off. If you were sick, you were cursed. If you hurt yourself, you were possessed. It was funny when he would stick ofunda’s onto some of the patrons of their shrine. For the most part, he typically used that excuse to attack the ones harassing Kagome during festivals when she was playing the role of priestess.

The man sniffed, ignoring her tease.

“Why didn’t you wake me up soone-!” The younger girl shrieked as she slipped and slid down the stairs, landing in a crumpled heap. She let out a small moan of pain and whined, “Owie!”

“Usagi? Are you okay?” Ikuko called in concern.

“No!” The girl cried, stumbling into the dining room.

“You’re such a klutz!” Shingo teased, his words muffled from the food.

“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” Kagome scolded, flicking the boy’s head. He whined but went back to eating as Souta snickered at his punishment.

Usagi’s eyes brightened at the sight of the packed lunch box and cheered, “Thanks for lunch!”

She zipped out of the houses, making Kagome sighed and hurrying after her, “Bye mom! Bye grandpa!” The raven haired girl raced after her sister, able to skip steps with ease down the shrine steps. Unlike her sister, who had to be rather careful of the staircase due to her natural clumsiness.

“Why does morning have to come so early?” Usagi whined as she reached the ground and sped off, yet again leaving Kagome in the dust.

Kagome groaned, “Of course she’s somehow faster than me!”

In her rush to get to school, Usagi completely missed the fact that she stepped on a rather lumpy piece of ground and was somehow able to keep herself upright. Kagome, however, going a much more mild speed, saw this and gasped at the sight, “Usagi!”

Her sister was either too sleep-deprived to hear her or flat out ignored her as she disappeared into the distance. Kagome shook her head, reminding herself to give the girl a scolding as she knelt onto the ground beside the poor cat her sister cruelly stepped on.

“Poor kitty,” Kagome cooed, gently picking up the moaning feline, “I’m so sorry about my little sister. She’s too oblivious sometimes.” The cat mewed and squirmed in her grip. It was then that the girl noticed the bandage on the cat’s forehead, “How did those get there?” The cat meowed pathetically, trying to scratch them off. Kagome took pity on the animal and carefully removed the bandaids, revealing a golden crescent moon on the cat’s forehead.

The cat purred and escaped from Kagome’s arms, nudging her leg gratefully. Kagome stared in awe at the marking, something about it just, felt so..familiar….

However, she was quickly brought out of her internal musings of confusion when a loud bell rang. The girl gasped and realized that she was the one late for once and quickly got to her feet, “I gotta go!”

The cat watched as the girl rushed off, knowing that things were about to change for everyone.

When she finally reached the school, Kagome winced as she stood outside her classroom. Maybe if she tried to sneak in, the teacher wouldn’t notice?

“Finally decided to join us, Tsukino-san?” Her teacher called out as soon as she opened the door.

Kagome sighed, realizing it was too much to hope she could be stealthy enough to slip in unnoticed, “Sorry Teuchi-sensei….”

Thankfully, the gods seemed to favor her today as the man simply shook his head, “This is one of your first offenses, so I’ll let you off with a warning. But make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

The girl sent him a bright smile, bowing deeply in gratitude, “Yes sir! Thank you!” She hurried to her seat, sticking her tongue out at her giggling friends. Ayumi sent her a sympathetic smile as Eri and Yuka had great pleasure sending her teasing looks.

When lunch hit, Kagome made her way to the courtyard alongside her three friends. As the girls teased her for earlier, Kagome focused on one thing. Scolding her little sister. “Usagi!”

The blonde yelped from her seat on the bench, recognizing the stern tone, “Kagome!” The ravenette clamped a hand down onto the girl’s shoulder to prevent her from her initial plan of running away. Usagi let out a whine, “What did I do?!”

“You wanna know why I was late today?” The girl hissed out.

Usagi whimpered, “Not particularly….”

“Because someone decided it was a good idea to not watch where she was going and trampled over an innocent cat!”

The blonde let out a gasp, “Poor kitty! What monster would do that!” Kagome deadpanned at her little sister, who winced when she realized that she must’ve done it earlier when rushing to school. “Oh….”

Yuka giggled, “Oh, come on, Kagome! It’s not like Teuchi-sensei punished you for being late!”

“I’m sure it was an accident,” Ayumi added.

“That doesn’t change the fact that she still could’ve hurt the cat really badly!” Kagome argued, “You’re lucky she didn’t seem too injured beyond any bruises your feet must’ve left!”

“I’m sorry!” Usagi cried.

Kagome sighed and patted her sister’s head, “Just learn to be more observant of your surroundings.”

“Okay!” The blonde said brightly, her tears immediately vanishing.

Usagi’s best friend, Naru, piped up, “Hi Kagome!”

“Hello,” The girl nodded in greeting. Her sister typically ate lunch with Naru and others from her class, though Kagome sometimes joined them. Eri and Yuka often remarked how Kagome was missing out on spending time with the popular boys in favor of eating with their underclassmen.

Ayumi just thought it was sweet.

Kagome, meanwhile, was fully admitting too just wanting to spend as much time with her sister as possible. After all, this was her last year of junior high, being a third year, while Usagi was a second year. When she began high school, she wouldn’t be able to sit with Usagi until she graduated junior high herself.

And given Usagi’s grades….that might just be a long time….

“Hey! Did you guys hear that there was another jewelry store robbery?” One of Usagi’s friends, whose name Kagome didn’t really remember at the time, spoke up.

“I know! It’s so scary!” Naru nodded.

“Yeah!” Umino said. He was one of Usagi’s fanboys (as her little sister was rather popular due to her exotic appearance), and really the only fanboy who could claim to be her friend (sort of. Their dads were business partners, so they grew up alongside Naru). “But Sailor V was able to catch all of the bad guys. It was so cool!”

“Who’s Sailor V?” Kagome asked curiously.

Her sister looked like she murdered Buyo in front of her, “You don’t know who Sailor V is?! She’s only, like, the best superhero to ever live!”

“Rumor has it that she’s actually a special investigator working for the police!” Umino added.

“Yeah, but my mom is still pretty on edge about the robberies” Naru stated, “She’s even having a huge clearance sale just so she can decrease her stock and earn money in case her shop is hit next.”

“Really! Ooh! Can I come after school?!” Usagi squealed.

“Me too!” Another girl urged.

“Sure thing!” Naru said.

“Usagi” Kagome warned.

The blonde turned puppy eyes onto her. Kagome yelped as she was hit with the full sparkling force. She sighed, “Fine. We can stop by later.” Kagome smiled as her little sister squealed eagerly.

“The big one in the middle is the Pigeon’s Blood Ruby” Naru explained as Usagi and the other girls pressed against the window in eager curiosity. Kagome shook her head at their behavior. “It’s worth over a billion yen so mom can’t really give you a discount on that one.”

“It’s so crowded” Usagi remarked as they entered the store.

Naru’s mother was happily taking in all the customers. “Step right up ladies! Take advantage of our deep discounts!”

“Hi mom! I’m back!” Naru greeted.

Her mother turned and greeted the group of girls with a smile, “Welcome home, sweetheart! Are these your friends?” The girl nodded, “It’s a bit crowded, but go ahead and look around! Any friends of my Naru can have an extra special discount!”

“Really?!”

The other two girls eagerly joined the crowd, and Usagi was more than ready to join in. Except for the fact that Kagome held her back. The blonde looked at her sister in confusion, but grew concerned when she noticed the expression on her face.

Kagome wasn’t sure what it was, but something about the store felt….off. There was….a dark aura or something. She couldn’t place it. Growing up on a shrine did give her certain sensitivities, and her grandfather was more than willing to share their deep rooted spiritual background, so Kagome always knew she was special in that regard.

It was one of the reasons she portrayed a priestess during the festivals. While her grandfather certainly held some kind of ability, he was certain Kagome inherited those as well, even if the girl herself was more reserved to agree.

But times like this, when she could feel the air being so wrong, so dark, she couldn’t help but wonder sometimes….

Whether she actually held those abilities herself was besides the point, however. This store was giving her bad vibes and she didn’t want either herself and especially not her little sister to be in it any longer than needed.

“Kagome? Are you okay?” Usagi asked softly.

“Yeah….” The ravenette mumbled, warily eying the store and it’s inhabitants, “Um, you know, mom probably wants us to be home soon. We should get going or she’ll be cross with us.”

“Uh….okay….” For once, the younger girl didn’t argue, “I’ll go tell Naru and we can go.”

Kagome nodded, not hesitating to rush out of the store. She didn’t want to be in there a second longer. Usagi watched her in concern, but went to find Naru in the crowd.

As the elder sister hurried out, she made the mistake her sister had made earlier and was too concerned with her bad feelings to notice her surroundings.

Kagome grunted when she ran into a firm wall and stumbled off her feet. Before she could make contact with the ground, however, she felt two arms wrap around her waist, halting her fall. Looking up from the arms, she realized she didn’t run into a wall, but rather a person.

He was tall and dressed rather formal. But the suit he was wearing didn’t hide the fact that he was clearly well toned given the sleeves were fitted snugly enough to showcase the obvious muscle he was using to hold her.

Kagome yelped and scrambled up to her feet, bowing frantically, “I’m so sorry! I wasn’t watching where I was going! I was really distracted and I just wanted to leave the store in a hurry and then I bumped into you and thank you so much for catching me and-”

“Woah” He chuckled under his breath, holding out his arms, “Calm down. It’s fine. It was an accident.”

Kagome straightened and curiously lifted her head up to meet his eyes, having been too embarrassed to look at him properly (beyond the clear look over she gave his torso). Her breath hitched the moment she made eye contact with him. Unbeknownst to her, he did the exact same.

As many things that happened today, there was something so familiar about him. Particularly his eyes. Despite being hidden behind his sunglasses, she could see enough to note his eyes were a rather attracting shade of blue, darker than her and her siblings.

Usagi was rather put off when she exited the store to find her sister and some strange man in a stare off, the two silent as they just gazed at each other. Usagi, naturally, was on the defensive, protective of her older sister, “Oi! Are you bugging my big sister?!”

Both Kagome and the man were brought out of their daze by the sudden shout. They looked at the huffing blonde in confusion, neither having noticed when she arrived. Usagi growled up at the man, “Leave my sister alone!”

He snorted, amused in comparison to the growing horror Kagome was feeling, “And what’d you do if I don’t, bump-head?”

“Bump-head?!” Usagi shrieked, “These are buns! Buns!”

“Usagi!” Kagome exclaimed, flushing brightly as the man didn’t bother to hide his mocking laughter at the offended girl. Kagome pulled her little sister away from the stranger, “I’m sorry about her!”

“It’s fine” He snickered.

“Don’t apologize to him!” Usagi shrieked, “He insulted my hairstyle! And he’s bugging you!”

“I bumped into him , Usagi,” Kagome sighed as her sister ranted and raved. She decided enough was enough and began to drag her raging sister off, calling back, “Sorry, again!”

Mamoru Chiba didn’t care much about finding any offense and the occurrence that took place. Rather, he was more focused on his reason for being in the area (deftly ignoring the lingering thoughts he had on the girl who had bumped into him).

This was, after all, the biggest jewelry store in the town. The Silver Crystal had to be here.

Usagi mumbled and muttered as she stomped alongside a weary Kagome. The ravenette merely sighed at her little sister’s behavior. Thankfully, her grumbling came to a halt when she let out a gasp and eagerly rushed to a nearby poster, “Sailor V!”

Kagome hummed as she examined the poster herself. The apparent hero was a blonde haired girl, much like her little sister. Except her hair was not as long as the pigtailed girl. Kagome wouldn’t put it past Usagi to be a fan just for the fact that she could imagine herself as Sailor V given the similar appearances they held.

“I wish I was like Sailor V! I bet she doesn’t have to study and get bad grades!” Usagi bemoaned.

“What? Did you fail another test?” Kagome questioned firmly. Usagi yelped and flustered. Kagome frowned sternly at her sister, “Usagi! Mom is not gonna be happy!”

“I know” The girl whined, “Ooh! Kagome! Can we go to the arcade for a bit? Please!”

“Usagi,” Kagome warned.

“I know!” Usagi cried, “But can’t I have a little freedom before mom grounds me for life?!”

Kagome needed to grow a bigger backbone against her sister’s puppy eyes.

“Hey Kagome,” Motoki greeted. He worked part time at the arcade nearest to their house and was a good friend Kagome had outside of school. He was in high school, so he was just a little older than her, but her sister had a huge crush on the boy. Which was part of the reason they came to the arcade so often.

But also so her sister could slack off.

Kagome huffed at him in greeting, making the older teen laugh, “Usagi coerced you into bringing her again?” She let out a groan and planted her face into the counter of the bar as he laughed at her misery. “You know, you really need to learn when to tell her no.”

“I can’t help it!” Kagome whined, “She looks like an angel, but acts like a devil!”

Motoki chuckled, “Oh, she’s innocent enough. She just likes to play games is all. Nothing wrong with that.”

“I know!” Kagome agreed, “But it becomes a problem when it affects her daily life!”

Motoki glanced at the girl before making the guess, “She failed another exam?”

Kagome let out a groan, informing him that he was correct. The two were distracted when a noise came from beside them. “Oh hey! It’s you!”

The black cat she helped out earlier, the one Usagi cruelly stomped across. She sat on the floor of the arcade, peering up at the two.

Motoki hummed, “This cat has been wandering around the area for a couple days now.”

“I wonder if that moon shaped bald spot is natural or if someone shaved her,” Kagome mused, leaning down to pick up the cat. The feline mewed and purred as Kagome scratched her ears.

“Who’d be cruel enough to do that?” Motoki questioned.

“Well, Usagi trampled over her this morning so….”

The cat hissed at the reminder, making Kagome laugh. She smiled and rubbed the cat’s head, her fingers pausing at the crescent shape.

What was wrong with her today?

“We’re home!” Kagome called out as the two girls entered the home, well after dark.

“Welcome back girls!” Their mother greeted, as the two began to take off their shoes. “I ran into Umino earlier today and he told me that you got your test results today! He got a ninety-five on his exam! His parents must be so proud! How did you do on yours, Usagi?”

Usagi was currently cursing the boy up a storm in her mind. “W-well….”

“Usagi,” Ikuko said warningly.

The blonde weakly dug through her bag and held out the paper. Ikuko took it and her eye twitched, “Thirty percent?!”

Usagi let out a weak chuckle as Kagome shook her head with a sigh.

“Young lady, you are grounded!” Usagi whined, “I don’t want to hear it! Usagi, you’re smarter than this! If you didn’t allow yourself to brush off your studying to play around then you wouldn’t be failing so much!” The blonde whimpered and cried as Ikuko rubbed her temple, “Go to your room. We’ll talk about this later.”

Usagi was quick to rush up the stairs, eager to escape the sight of her mother. Ikuko sighed, “Maybe we should get her a tutor?”

“I don’t know if that’s the problem here” Kagome stated, following her mother into the kitchen, where her father was reading a book, “I think it’s more the fact that she refuses to study rather than her just not understanding the material. Usagi is smart in her own way. Maybe she just needs more discipline in learning responsibility.”

The two women sent a deadpan over to Kenji, who purposefully kept his gaze to his book, avoiding to accept the fact that it was majorly his fault for spoiling the blonde girl so much.

Granted, he did also spoil Kagome as she was the eldest, but she matured faster due to helping take care of Usagi when she was a baby. Shingo and Souta were born late enough that Usagi was already spoiled to the point of shirking her own personal duties.

Of course, Kagome would also take responsibility in that she spoiled Usagi as much as her father did. Case in point, allowing the girl to slack off in the arcade for hours, despite knowing she needed to go home and face their mother’s wrath.

As her parents discussed the steps they would take in helping Usagi learn to focus on her studies, Kagome made her way up to her room. She did sweatdrop when she passed her grandfather and overheard him mumbling prayers to the gods to cure Usagi’s clusiness and laziness.

Entering her room with a sigh, Kagome plopped onto her bed, ready to rest until dinner.

She was out like a light as soon as she shut her eyes.

She didn’t know where she was. Or where she was being taken to. All she knew was something was wrong and that she needed to escape as quickly as possible. In front of her, dragging her through the landscape, she could only make out the form of a man, dressed up in a suit and cape, carrying a gleaming sword.

She called to him, the name of which was mute to her ears.

He moved to turn his face towards her-

Kagome yelped when a weight hopped onto her stomach, startling her awake from the strange dream. The cat she kept bumping into all day sat atop of her, peering down into her eyes, “Uh...kitty?”

“Hello.”

Kagome shrieked and scrambled away from the cat, swatting it off of her. The feline gracefully leapt off of her, landing onto her windowsill, “Please calm down.”

“Talking cat!” Kagome shrieked.

“Hush!” The cat scolded, swatting her paw at the girl, startling her enough that she quieted down. The cat nodded firmly, “I am Luna. I’ve been looking for you for a long time.”

“I’m dreaming. This is still a dream” Kagome muttered to herself, crawling back onto her bed, “Goodnight, talking dream cat.”

“Kagome, this is not a dream,” the cat, apparently called Luna, stated, “Please listen to me, this is very important! I have something to give you.”

Kagome peered over to the cat from her pillow, “Yes, dream cat?”

Luna sighed, realizing the girl wasn’t going to believe she was awake any time soon. Granted, to be fair, the planet truly has lost it’s magic in that the people who populate it no longer hold memories of the grandeur Earth once held.

Of course, it was nothing compared to the beauty and grace of the Moon and other planets, but still.

The cat dropped the magic artifact before the young teenager, “This is for you.”

“A jewel brooch?” Kagome murmured, slowly picking up the item. Luna urged her to put it on and Kagome reluctantly did so.

“Strange things have been happening in Tokyo that the police can’t handle,” Luna explained, “But with this, you can do so as a Guardian. It’s your mission to find the other Guardians and together, defeat this evil enemy! Also, you must help them find our missing princess!”

Kagome yelped when light began to shine from the brooch after she attached it to her bow, “What’s happening!”

“The magic has accepted you!” Luna cheered happily, “Repeat after me! Moon Prism Power Make Up!”

“This is such a weird dream!” Kagome whined, but she did obey, as clearly, her mind did not want to come to real life anytime soon, “Moon Prism Power Make Up!”

It all happened in a flash. She was suddenly covered in ribbons and sparkles, her world brightening up in an almost heavenly light. When it dimmed, her school uniform was gone, replaced with a blue sailor suit with red bows. Her hair had grown much longer and wrapped up in the same pigtail style that her sister coined, held together by red barrettes. And her arms were covered by long, elbow length gloves.

Despite the shock she felt as she examined her new appearance in her vanity, she was more distracted when she realized her barrettes were flashing with little dings, “What are they doing?”

“They’re warning you! Your magic is picking up distress signals from someone in trouble,” Luan explained.

Sure enough, a voice began to echo from them, ‘Someone please help me! My mom is-

“That sounds like Naru,” Kagome murmured.

“Your friend must have come across a monster,” Luna warned, “It is your duty to save her! Let’s go!”

“But we don’t even know where she is!” Kagome exclaimed.

“Your magic is drawing you towards the evil” The feline stated, right before she leapt out of Kagome’s window. The ravenette leaned over to see the cat waiting for her below.

Kagome gulped but quickly bucked up her courage. After all, this was just a dream! It wouldn’t hurt her to jump from the second story!

Taking a deep breath, she hopped out, gracefully landing on her feet despite the heels (but she attributed that to dream games). Following the pull she felt inside, she and Luna rushed through the streets of Tokyo.

Kagome was surprised by how elaborate her dream was, even as she sped across the night, much faster than she ever was in real life.

As they reached the jewelry store that Naru’s mother owed, Kagome found a frightened Naru curled against the wall, shivering away from a frankly hideous monster version was what appeared to be her mother.

“Hey! Get away from her!” Kagome called, not hesitating to rush in and put herself between the terrified girl and the monster.

“Who the hell are you!” The monster growled out.

Kagome paused and tapped her chin, “You know, I actually don’t know. I’m still, like, sixty percent sure this is a dream. Let me figure that part out first and then ask me.” Luna hissed at her, irritated that the girl was still hesitant to accept this was reality. She examined her outfit and mused, “I think I have a moon theme going on here, so maybe something in that genre? I’ll work on it. In the meantime…”

Kagome went with instinct and launched herself at the monster, who was too startled to defend itself.

Tackling the monster went well for the first few seconds of it. Until the monster regained it’s bearings and kicked her away. Kagome yelped as she hit the wall. “Note to self, do not throw yourself at the monster. On a related note, dreams don’t give the feeling of pain, so I’m almost positive that this is not a dream and will have the appropriate freak out later on in my bedroom.”

Luna mewed ‘helpfully’.

The monster raised what appeared to look like a glowing red tube, “Awaken minions! It is time for all those who have given energy to our Great Ruler to arise and serve her!”

“Uh…..what?” Luna yowled and hissed at the door as slouching women appeared, eyes glowing red as they moved slowly towards the young teenager, “What the FUCK!”

“Language!” Luna hissed a scolding for the curse but Kagome was much too distracted with the fact that the monster apparently had human women zombies?

“Attack this girl!”

“Oh my gods!” Kagome yelped as the women launched at her. She leapt out of the way and began to run around the store, dodging the women chasing after her, “This is not fun this is not fun this is NOT FUN!”

“What are you doing? You need to fight back!” Luna scolded.

“How am I supposed to do that! You haven’t explained ANYTHING !” Kagome shrieked, rushing to a table and trying to avoid the crowd of zombie women.

However, it was out of pure desperation that her apparent magic responded. The moment she shrieked at the cat, her barrettes began to blare out, releasing a sonic wave using her scream. Echoing around the store, all occupants covered their ears tightly to stop the pain as glass shattered around the teenager.

When the sonic waves came to a close, Kagome realized the newly glass covered floor and blinked, “Did I do that?”

“Now’s your chance! Take it!” Another voice echoed from above her. Kagome swirled around to try and see who was talking, as the clearly male voice was vastly different from Luna’s, but she couldn’t see anyone.

Said cat spoke up, “Finish her while she’s weak!” Luna winced as her ears rang from the wave attack, but she shook it off enough to give instructions, “Take the tiara you’re wearing and throw it at her while saying the words ‘Moon Tiara Boomerang!’”

Kagome hesitantly moved to take off her tiara, despite not having a clue how to do so.  Thankfully, her magic reacted for her as the tiara flashed off her forehead and into her hand, spinning around in a golden halo. Kagome grinned and aimed, “Moon Tiara Boomerang!”

The monster did have the chance to dodge or defend itself as it was still stunned from her sonic waves. Her tiara sliced through the monster’s body. The reaction was immediate, her body turned to stone and crumbled away to ash.

“Great job! You defeated her!” Luna cheered.

“Did I just kill someone?!” Kagome shrieked in a panic.

Luna was quick to reassure her, “No! Your magic isn’t designed to hurt humans! The real owner of this store must’ve been locked away somewhere.”

Kagome sighed in relief, “Well, that’s good.”

It was then that she realized that Naru was still huddled away against the wall. She quickly hurried over and soothed the girl, “It’s okay. The monster is gone now.”

Naru looked at her, awe sparkling in her eyes, “Who are you?”

“Uh, well,” Kagome hummed, looking towards Luna. Now that she knew it wasn’t a dream, she probably should figure out an alter ego name. Again, she had the moon theme going for her and now that she thought about it, she did look a little like that Sailor V her sister fangirled over. So…. “You can call me Sailor Moon!”

“So cool!” Naru squealed.

“So….Do you know where your real mom is or should I start searching the store?”

After freeing the tied up Mrs. Osaka from the basement, who was rather frightened from the experience, the newly dubbed Sailor Moon took her leave. After some encouragement from Luna, she hopped up onto the roof of a building, the magic making it easily doable.

Sailor Moon looked across the city skyline, awed by the sight as Luna curled onto the railing, equally happy and satisfied with the day.

It was then that the same voice she heard earlier called from beside her, “I didn’t find the legendary Silver Crystal, but I got to see something else quite interesting.”

Sailor Moon let out a squeak and spun towards the voice, this time actually spotting the person. It was a man, dressed up in a suit, with a top hat, cape and white mask. He stood atop the same railing Luna had rested on, smirking down at the startled girl.

Said cat was immediately on the defensive, ramrodded straight on her paws, hissing at the newcomer as her fur bristled.

“Who the hell are you?” Sailor Moon exclaimed.

The man chuckled, “You can call me Tuxedo Mask. I won’t forget you, Sailor Moon.”

The stranger then leapt off the roof, making Sailor Moon shriek and lean over to make sure he was okay. Thankfully, he seemed equally agile as her new persona, landing easily onto a streetlight and leaping off again.

Whether that was magic or pure skill was left up to debate, but it didn’t change how stunned in awe Sailor Moon was from the frankly cool exit.

Luna was not pleased to notice her new Guardian was blushing like the schoolgirl she was, gazing dazed after the stranger.

Kagome was even less pleased to discover that she was one hundred percent correct in finding it wasn’t a dream (as even when she came to the realization, there was still a part of her that doubted), when she went to school the next day and overheard Naru excitedly spill the whole story to her friends, including her very awed little sister.
