Tokoha was in the kitchen busy finishing decorating a cake for her brother who was currently trying to go to work on his birthday. Their parents were trying to distract Mamoru from going to work considering Ryutarou had asked them specifically to try to stop him from working on his birthday for once. As Ryutarou thought he needed a break for once.
With Mamoru being an adult it's not like he could be told what to do anymore. It wasn't like he could be told that the dragon empire branch was closed. As Mamoru being the branch chief ment he had more control than if he was just an employee. Eventually they were able to get him to stay with them for his birthday.
Tokoha just wanted to add some finishing details to the dragonic blade master design on the cake. Mamoru had said beforehand that he was too old for a cake like this but Tokoha felt it was fitting for Mamoru to have a cake with his vanguard avatar on it. Since he may be an adult but he could still be able celebrate and have some fun at least for a bit. Plus she didn't think having a cake with his vanguard avatar on it was childish so she hoped he liked it.
“I hope Mamoru likes the cake as I'm not sure if I made the flavour as nice as it could have been.” Tokoha wanted to make it special for her brother's birthday plus it's a day he actually is taking a break from work.
Tokoha smiled seeing her present that was placed nearby as she planned to bring it out first before the cake. Once she was happy with the cake after finishing the decorations for blade master design on Mamoru’s cake. She picked up her present from the table and took it with her to where Mamoru and her parents were sitting waiting for her to give Mamoru his gifts together.
She sat down beside her family, placing her gift next to her parent's gift for Mamoru. “Happy birthday Mamoru!” They were honestly happy to get to spend some time with Mamoru rather than him always being busy.
“I'm in my twenties, we don't need to make this a big deal.” Mamoru appreciated his sister and parents celebrating his birthday but he just felt like birthdays were another day but he was just getting old.
“Oh come on now, you may be old but you still have plenty of time to celebrate.” Tokoha teased as Mamoru gave an offended look but smiled as Yoshiaki and Misae laughed seeing their son and daughter get along as siblings should.
They handed Mamoru his present from them as it was a small box wrapped up. Mamoru had a feeling he knew what it was as it was what they would get for him for a few years. As they knew he would be happy with it. As he unwrapped their present he saw a booster box of the new set that was out.
Mamoru stood up and gave his parents a hug as they never had to go out of their way to get something like this for his birthday. So he was always grateful. “Thank you so much mum and dad.” He sat back down after hugging them as they stood up now and gave Tokoha a nod as a signal to give him his present while they got the cake to show him.
“I know it’s not something that much but I wanted to make this for you.” Tokoha handed something wrapped that felt like something flat on paper and delicate as he carefully unwrapped it as he saw pressed flowers stuck on the paper in a pretty pattern with an assortment of colourful flowers. Mamoru remembered that Tokoha had said they are flowers that represent courage.
Mamoru held up his hand as Tokoha knew what it meant as they gave each other a high five. “I'll keep it safe in my room so nothing happens to it.” Tokoha was happy that Mamoru was going to keep it safe knowing that her work was good enough for him to want to keep safe.
Their mum and dad walked in with the cake Tokoha made. “It was Tokoha’s idea to make it and design it.” They placed it down to let Mamoru see the cake now. With the chibi dragonic blade master on the cake for him.
“Thank you again, Tokoha. I honestly love the effort you put in for dragonic blade master.” Mamoru was pleased with it. He paused as he remembered something he almost forgot about. “Ah I'm sorry I can't have a bit to eat now as I will be late meeting up with some others. Don't worry I am not working, just meeting with friends and they wanted to meet up early. Once I get back I'll be spending more time with you three though.” He said as he got ready to leave as Yoshiaki and Misae nodded and covered the cake to try to keep it fresh in the fridge as they wanted to eat it together when he got back then.
Tokoha ran over before Mamoru left. “Well then take care and I do hope you like it as I'm not sure if I nailed the flavour.” She looked down out of nervousness but felt Mamoru gently placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Listen, it's the thought that counts and I'm sure it tastes great. Don't doubt yourself because I'm your older brother as if you are happy with it then you have nothing to worry about.” Mamoru gave a smile to comfort his sister who needed encouragement from time to time as it cheered Tokoha up. They said their byes as Mamoru left to meet up with a few friends at United Sanctuary as the meetup spot where Ibuki was.
Mamoru enjoyed his day, actually getting to relax. It was even more better getting to spend time with his family afterwards enjoying the cake Tokoha baked as like Mamoru assumed there was nothing wrong with the taste as she did a great job baking the cake.
