Work Text:
Matsuda wasn’t one to worry too hard about things, even important things. But he couldn’t help himself to worry right now. Aziwa had left four hours ago to go pick up Yumi from Eriko’s. He said he’d be back in an hour or less. So when it hit 2 hours, Matsuda chalked it up to Aziwa and Eriko talking for a while too long, but as four hours approached so did Matsuda’s anxiety.
Matsuda hasn’t been more worried since he had to pull a fake death, and he was doing handstans on a fucking skyscraper then, and he could feel himself more scared than then. It’s not like Aziwa could be in trouble, could he? He was a big guy, very threatening, he seemed like he was constantly angry, no one in their right minds would mess with a man like that.
Not like they could, Aziwa always had his gun on him.
And Aziwa wouldn’t do anything stupid with Yumi with him. There was no possibility that Aziwa and Yumi were in trouble, but Matsuda still was worrying more than he needed to. He was very close to calling the chief, or damn maybe even L himself, he was in London with Light, but he could at least help a bit, right?
Matsuda had his car keys, and jacket in hand as the familiar knocking on the door came. Two hard knocks, Aziwa, and a small polite knock, Yumi. Matsuda rushed to the door, and unlocked it, seeing his family of a year now.
Aizawa’s brow scrunched up in confusion as he saw Matsuda breathing deep, and with his jacket on. “Are you okay Matsu?” Yumi asked before her father could. Before answering Matsuda sat down on the floor, “Yes, I'm okay, I was just…really worried about you guys.” He said, putting his head into his hands. “Sorry we took so long, Eriko wasn’t there, and I had to wait for her, and then Gin started talking about the new book he had read- It took a while. I'm sorry.” Aizawa said, as Yumi walked over to her room, getting her bags off.
Matsuda looked up to his boyfriend, and smiled. He took the hand that Aziwa reached out for him, and stood up, standing not so face-to-face with the other man. “It's fine, I worried myself for nothing, I'm the one who's sorry.” He said, looking down and taking his jacket off. “Hey, don’t say that, I should have called or something, it was on me.” Aziwa reassured the man, and he sat down on the couch with him.
The smile spread as Matsuda hugged him, putting his face over Aziwa’s shoulder. “Thank you for coming back.” Matsuda muttered. “I won’t ever leave.”
Bonus scene:
“I was gonna call L if you were gone any longer.” Matsuda said, as he cut up fruit for dinner, Aizawa made a groaning sound as he heard the detective's name. “He’d have killed you if you ruined his honeymoon.” Aizawa told him, looking up from the hair he was braiding. “He probably would’ve.” Matsuda said, as he finished the fruits. “But it would have been worth it for you two.” He walked over, placing a kiss on Aizawa’s cheek, and on top of Yumi’s head.
