“Will you be the Mercy to my Phara?” Soobin asked, with his back resting against the wall, his phone balanced on his left thigh in front of his laptop. “Sure!” Beomgyu beamed back at him, the speakers of Soobin’s phone having a hard time dealing with Beomgyu’s loud voice. Soobin smiled. He loved when they played Overwatch together, it was his favorite time of the day.
They were both in queue as all roles. Most of the time they did it to complete their weekly challenges, but today it was just for fun. Soobin always joked that either of them would have to experience just one bad game as tank to switch to dps and/or support only.
Well luckily neither of the two had to suffer as tank this round.
They ended up in Soobin‘s favorite constellation; himself as a dps and Beomgyu as his support.
He absolutely loved getting boosted by his Mercy and Beomgyu had a blast whenever Soobin’s aim was on point.
A smile bloomed on Soobin’s lips after a match was found and it was revealed what map they were gonna fight on. It was Ilios; his favorite.
“Look look... Wait!” Beomgyu exclaimed as they loaded into the character selection screen. Soobin already had a suspicion as to why he was supposed to wait and why there was a ring of excitement to Beomgyu’s voice, but he didn’t utter a word.
He knew how much fun it was to surprise the other with something ingame, like a new skin or a voiceline or whatever, and he didn’t want to ruin the fun.
He could hear the tank spam voice lines in the back as Beomgyu popped up in front of him. “Wait, you got the skin?” Soobin asked, crouching at Beomgyu who crouched back at him in his newly acquired Mercy skin. “Aren't I the prettiest?”
“Best Mercy.” Soobin said, smiling fondly at his screen as Beomgyu connected the blue beam to him. Oh, he will fuck everyone up. No one could stop him when he had Beomgyu with him, damage-boosting him.
“Someone needs to fill this saddle .” Soobin turned to his right where the voice came from. It was a Cassidy who just joined the game. “Hey.” “How’s it going?” “Hello there.” He spammed at Beomgyu before pulling out his heart emote in front of him.
Soobin scoffed.
“Oh he wants me so bad.” Beomgyu giggled, turning Mercy away from Phara to look at Cassidy instead, saying hello back.
Soobin pressed his lips together, watching as Cassidy punched Phara, basically telling Soobin to fuck off because he wanted to get boosted by Mercy.
“I’m your huckleberry.” Cassidy said to Mercy, crouching. “ Ja.” Mercy said back to him, now pulling out her heart emote for Cassidy, too and Soobin felt like throwing up.
“Ew…” He whispered as the countdown started, they needed to get out of spawn now and Beomgyu abandoned him for some rando.
He couldn’t help but pout at his screen as he flew to point, the Doomfist far ahead of them already, Kiriko by his side. He felt like he was 3rd wheeling two couples, one of which included his own boyfriend blatantly cheating on him…
Well the game was going...good for Cassidy and Beomgyu. Meanwhile Soobin was huffing and puffing and cursing at his screen as the enemy Baptiste kept shooting and killing him, no support in sight other than a stressed Kiriko who was throwing her ofuda at him in a desperate attempt to heal him before he’d die and drop to the ground.
Well, if only he had another person on his team that could fly around with him or even resurrect him…
Soobin was side-eyeing the two as he was busy trying not to be a burden to his team. “Oh my god, Cass is poppin’ off.” Beomgyu said proudly. “It’s so much fun boosting him.” He continued and Soobin kept silent, trying his best to concentrate on where his rockets landed but he made sure to shoot one at Cassidy every now and then just because he was a hater.
At the end of the second round a frustrated groan escaped Soobin’s chest, ‘Defeat’ written over the screen but all he could focus on was the chat box at the bottom left corner.
A wave of ggs rolled through the chat and of course someone had to drop an ‘ez’. But it wasn't the ‘ez’ that riled Soobin up. It was Beomgyu’s and Cassidy's conversation over the team chat.
[therizzler]: ILY Mercy!!!!!
[teddybear]: Omg Cassidy, you’re amazing!
[therizzler]: What would I be without you??!!
[teddybear]: Cass carry!!
Then silence followed.
Finally this nightmare of a match was over.
Soobin was so ready to jump into the next game and forget about this situation, secretly praying to every existing entity that the same guy wouldn’t end up on their team again.
“Oh my god! I got a friend request from the Cass.” Beomgyu cheered, giggling joyfully. “Gotta accept it immediately.” He said and Soobin pursed his lips, still unable to say anything. It wasn’t even like he was jealous of that guy, it was the fact that Beomgyu was completely ignoring him that made him feel bad. He was okay with sharing to a certain degree but knowing that that guy sent Beomgyu a friend request meant that he either wanted to play with him or hit him up over the whisper option.
And apparently he did exactly as Soobin expected.
Suddenly, Beomgyu’s laugh echoed through the speakers, the next game already found.
“He's hitting on me real hard.” Beomgyu confessed. “He wants me so bad. He says he wants to marry me.”
Aha…
“Gosh! He's so sweet, lol.” Beomgyu screeched. “He asks if he can join the next game. He can, right?” He asked and Soobin could feel how his body started to tremble.
No he could not... He wanted to have quality with Beomgyu and Beomgyu only.
“Sure, you can invite him.” Soobin said coldly, licking his lips. “And while you’re at it, you sure can marry him if you like him that much.”
He pressed the red button on his phone without hesitation.
Beep, beep, beep.
[bunnyboy left the game]
[bunnyboy stopped playing Overwatch]
At that point Soobin didn’t even care about embarrassing himself over nonsense anymore. Actually he was partially amused by himself for acting this way, but another part was genuinely hurt. He would‘ve lied if he said he didn’t feel ashamed for it though.
Well, It all had its benefits.
He knew that Beomgyu would soon enter his room to apologize anyway.
That's when he‘d finally have quality time with Beomgyu. Then, Soobin could pull Beomgyu into bed and would have him all for himself. Just the two of them. Beomgyu all his. No one could interrupt their one on one time anymore.
no stupid Cassidy…
So he quickly sat up straight and put his laptop down onto the floor in front of his bed before he lied down and pulled his blanket over his head, back turned towards the door. He gave his everything to look as pathetic as possible and he proudly claimed that he was very good at that.
As predicted, just a few minutes later, there was the gentlest knock on his door. It was Beomgyu. Soobin could already tell by his steps but the way he knocked was a dead giveaway.
Soobin stayed silent.
Of course Beomgyu was aware of what was awaiting him in Soobin's room so he entered it anyway. No need to feel concerned or to respect boundaries.
He knew this was all just an act and he enjoyed every second of it.
“Hyung…” Beomgyu’s soft voice echoed through the room as he closed the door behind himself, darkness engulfing him.
“Go away.” Soobin hissed. “Be so for real right now.” Beomgyu laughed at Soobin who just nuzzled his face into his pillow before growling at him. “Took you long enough to come here anyway. Had some fun with your newly found lover?” Soobin mumbled before a little smile cracked onto his face. Ah…careful… he had to stay in character.
Beomgyu slowly made his way over to Soobin‘s bed, careful not to step onto something. Soobin‘s room was always such a mess.
“What if I told him I have a boyfriend?” He asked as his shins met with the frame of Soobin's bed. Soobin hummed. “What if I told him I had to log off because I wanted to make out with said boyfriend?”
…
Soobin shot up in bed, flinging his arm over to his bedside lamp to turn it on. “You did what?” Soobin asked, his heart racing. Beomgyu smirked, kneeling down on the edge of the bed and cupping Soobin’s cheek in his hand. “He sounded pretty disappointed, but I told him I have the hottest and sweetest boyfriend and if he kept talking to me you’d find out where he lived.”
“Oh, I would find out.”
“You sure would…” Beomgyu leaned in further, his other hand moving to Soobin’s other cheek as he started to slowly straddle his lap, the smirk from before now a grin.
Soobin was shaking, his hands carefully reaching out for Beomgyu’s waist. While all of this was just one of their usual playful little fights, this time was different. The fact that Beomgyu told this complete stranger about Soobin had the latter feel unusually hot and jittery. Somehow, it turned him on that Beomgyu was telling a stranger these things about him.
“I knew cheating on you would get me somewhere…” Beomgyu whispered against Soobin’s lips. “GG ez.” He added proudly with a snicker, before crashing his lips into Soobin’s full force, the other gasping in shock as Beomgyu’s arms wrapped tightly around his neck.
It was then when Soobin realized that Beomgyu just wanted to get him off the game without asking him, knowing that Soobin loved playing Overwatch and not wanting to disappoint him. Well, Soobin considered feeling offended by the fact that Beomgyu thought he’d prefer gaming over sleeping with him, but as Beomgyu started grinding his hips into Soobin’s his brain shut off in an instant.
Maybe Soobin had to admit that he liked Cassidy after all. Maybe, he would have to log back into the game the next day and send him a friend request to personally thank him...
