Work Text:

It had been over a month since Hyunjin and Minho officially started dating. Despite work piling up on Hyunjin, they still managed to sneak in a few dates whenever possible.
Today, however, Hyunjin found himself back at the office on a break, venting his frustrations to his colleague, Jeongin.

“My new client’s driving me up the wall. She nitpicks every little thing. I swear, if I hear one more comment about the sound of the floor…”

Jeongin chuckled as he unwrapped his sandwich. “You’ve been getting all the crazy ones lately. Wish you worked in exterior instead, huh?”

Hyunjin sighed. “I’d swap with you in a heartbeat.”

As their banter continued, Hyunjin’s phone buzzed. He checked the screen and instantly smiled—a text from Minho, accompanied by a picture of him with a stray cat that sometimes wandered over to his farm.

Minho🤎: Look who came back to visit :) How’s your day going?

Jeongin caught the smile and smirked. “Oh boy. Look at that face. That’s your ‘Minho texted me’ smile.”

Hyunjin tried to hide his blush, but Jeongin pressed on. “When are we finally going to meet this ‘dream’ of a guy you’ve been gushing about? Seriously, you’ve been holding out on us for weeks.”

Hyunjin shrugged, typing a quick reply.

Hyunjin: Day’s going okay, though my client’s being a pain, and Jeongin’s not helping either. P.S. That cat is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!!!!!!! And you’re okay too, I guess.

Jeongin peeked over his shoulder. “Am I annoying you? Good to know.”

Just as Hyunjin rolled his eyes and sent the text, a response came back.

Minho🤎: Wow, already replacing me with a cat. Good to know where I stand. What’s Jeongin annoying you about this time?

Hyunjin chuckled and typed back.

Hyunjin: He and the others won’t stop bugging me about when they’ll get to meet you. It’s a daily thing at this point.

Minho replied almost instantly.

Minho🤎: Chan-hyung has been bugging me about that too. He’s still upset he hasn’t met you, especially since Felix did a month ago.

Hyunjin smiled and told Minho to pass along his apologies to Chan, saying that it’s hard to plan anything when he’s so busy. Then Minho sent a suggestion that caught him off guard.

Minho🤎: What if we come to the city this weekend? Me, Chan, and Felix—we could meet your friends too.

Hyunjin nearly choked on his food, causing Jeongin to glance over. “What’s got you so flustered?”

Unable to explain right away, Hyunjin fumbled with his phone. Jeongin snatched it from him and read the message, grinning ear to ear. “Well, well, look at that! A full-on friend group meet-up! I’ll go ahead and confirm that for you.”

Before Hyunjin could stop him, Jeongin sent a rapid-fire text.

Hyunjin: YES THAT’S PERFECT! SEE YOU THEN!!

Hyunjin grabbed his phone back and glared at Jeongin. “What the hell, man?”

Minho🤎: Are you really excited, or did your phone get hijacked?

Hyunjin sighed and replied.

Hyunjin: Phone is back in my possession. Jeongin is just… happy with the news, apparently. I’ll ask the others if they’re free, but if not, it can just be us five.

Minho agreed, and the conversation ended. Jeongin grinned at Hyunjin. “You don’t seem thrilled.”

Hyunjin sighed. “I am, really. But it’s nerve-wracking, you know? I’m excited to meet, but Minho told me some stuff about how his past relationships didn’t have much luck with the ‘meeting Chan thing’. That has me a little worried.”

Jeongin chuckled light-heartedly and nudged him. “Don’t sweat it. You already got the stamp of approval from one of his friends. Plus, if you’re this worried, Chan’s gonna see you’re serious and love you.”

Hyunjin nodded and playfully jabbed back, “Just remember, if you don’t play nice, I’m revoking your ‘sneak into Hyunjin’s apartment and steal his clothes’ privileges.”

Jeongin raised his hands in surrender. “I’ll be like an angel.”

***

The weekend arrived, and Hyunjin found himself nervously waiting at a bistro with Jeongin and Changbin.

Seungmin sadly couldn’t get out of work but since Minho agreed to spend the weekend over at Hyunjin’s they’ll meet him the next day for coffee.
Hyunjin was a little glad about this. Out of everyone here, Seungmin would likely create the most embarrassing or awkward situation just for his own enjoyment. He’s… special really.

Hyunjin grew up with both Changbin and Seungmin. Met Changbin at the under 10s sports club they had at school and then later had Seungmin assigned to him as a tutor when he was 15. They both have more than enough stories about Hyunjin’s life to make said life hell.

On the other hand, he met Jeongin when he joined his current job a few years back. Quickly took a liking to the adorable guy only to find out he’s the face of evil and if Seungmin was here would JUMP on teasing Hyunjin alongside him.

He met Han after bumping into him at Changbin’s job, they hit it off immediately yet sadly, the most recent addition to their friend group was running late, so he will be missing the desperate plea from Hyunjin in hopes of avoiding being shamed.

“Please, I’m begging you guys,” Hyunjin muttered, his knee bouncing nervously under the table. “Don’t embarrass me today.”

Before they could respond, the door opened, and Minho walked in with Chan and Felix right behind him. Hyunjin’s heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. Minho smiled warmly, and Hyunjin quickly stood up, moving over to hug him.

Thankfully, everyone else resisted the urge to coo and tease. They are all adults after all even if they rarely act as such.

Their friends all greeted each other politely, but it was clear no one knew how to break the initial awkwardness.

Minho’s friends sat on one side of the table, Hyunjin’s on the other. Somehow, Hyunjin ended up between Chan and Felix, which made him shift uncomfortably. Minho, sitting across from him, but at the edge of his seat, tried to hide a laugh behind his hand.

Changbin coughed, leaning in to ‘interrogate’ Minho.
“So, Minho, right? You and Hyunjin seem close.” He squinted at him.

Minho smiled back, bit forced, “Ah yes.. I would assume we uh would be? Yes?”

“Interesting. Well. Me and Jinnie over there—we made a pact back when we were kids—if we’re still both single by 40, we’re getting married. Thoughts?”

Minho laughed clearly and took this information jokingly. “Guess I’ve got competition, huh? Should I be threatened?”

While Changbin and Minho bantered, Chan turned to Hyunjin, extending his hand. “Hey, it’s nice to finally meet you.”

Hyunjin blushed and shook his hand. “Likewise.”

They all idly chatted yet it was clear both Minho and Hyunjin were nervous so the awkward atmosphere persisted.

Five minutes later, Han burst through the door, apologising profusely. He barely noticed Felix until he sat down, and when he finally saw him, he squealed and fell off his chair.

“Felix?! No way!”

Felix, equally surprised, helped him up. “Han? Is that you? It’s been ages!”

Everyone was staring at the exchanged confused and waited till the two explained their relationship.

As the two caught everyone up on their shared history (they were in the same uni class before Han dropped out to do music), the atmosphere around the table lightened considerably.
Everyone began to relax, and conversation flowed easily from there.

Throughout the meal, Hyunjin and Minho exchanged constant smiles and glances, enjoying each other’s company even in the crowded room.

By the end, it felt like everyone had bonded—Minho was quickly becoming friends with Han due to their many shared interests, was on the verge of having a fake make shift spar with Changbin, and clearly was drawn into Jeongin’s cuteness.

Meanwhile, Hyunjin noticed Chan giving Minho approving looks every now and then, clearly pleased with his friend’s choice of partner. This warmed Hyunjin’s heart and cheeks more than he thought was possible.

One surprise came towards the end of the meal when Minho mentioned in realisation, that he was two years older than Hyunjin, to which Hyunjin laughed in similar disbelief. “How did that never come up within a whole month of dating?”

Everyone at the table found it hilarious and after a few more minutes they parted ways.

***

Hyunjin and Minho walked hand in hand back to Hyunjin’s apartment.

The walk was peaceful, the city lights casting a soft glow on the streets.
Minho's hand never left Hyunjin's, fingers interlaced as they strolled slowly.

“Today went well, right?” Hyunjin asked, his thumb brushing gently against Minho’s hand.

Minho chuckled, “It did. Your friends are… something else, though.”

“Something else?” Hyunjin raised an eyebrow.

“I mean, Han and Felix reconnecting was a surprise. Changbin and Jeonginnie were fun, though I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole marriage pact.” Minho shook his head, a playful grin tugging at his lips. “Changbin seemed pretty serious.”

Hyunjin grinned. “Don’t worry, plenty of time left so, you’re safe for now. Besides, he’s too busy bickering and/or flirting with Seungmin.

Minho laughed and moved to bump his shoulder with Hyunjin’s.

"You seemed to hit it off with my friends," he said, glancing up at Hyunjin with a playful smile.
“They made it easy to get along. I mean I had already gotten along with Felix but,"

Hyunjin's heart warmed at the memory, "Chan-hyung seemed to like me, too. I caught him smiling at us a few times. He also told me to call him Hyung so, guess I made a good impression."

Minho stopped walking for a moment, pulling Hyunjin closer so they stood face-to-face under a streetlight. "He did. He told me earlier that he's happy for me... happy that I found someone like you."
Hyunjin's breath hitched, the sincerity in Minho's voice catching him off guard. "Really?"
Minho nodded, his gaze soft as he looked at Hyunjin. "Yeah. And he's right. I am lucky."

The tension between them built, the air thick with unspoken words and longing. Hyunjin could feel the electricity in the air, the pull between them stronger than ever.
Without saying anything, Minho leaned in, brushing his lips softly against Hyunjin's.
The kiss was gentle at first, but the moment Hyunjin responded, it deepened-slow and passionate, as if they had all the time in the world.

Minho's hands settled at Hyunjin's waist, pulling him closer as the world around them disappeared.
When they finally pulled apart, Hyunjin's lips were tingling, and his heart was racing. He let out a breathless laugh, resting his forehead against Minho's.

“Missed your kisses”

Minho smiled and moved to look at Hyunjin, “Missed you”.

Hyunjin flushed and turned away, taking Minho’s hand and moving again.

As they continued walking, their pace slowed even more. Every step seemed to stretch time, and the flirtatious energy between them grew stronger. Hyunjin couldn't stop teasing Minho, lightly bumping his shoulder or stealing glances with a playful grin.

By the time they were almost at Hyunjin's apartment, neither of them wanted the night to end.
As they slowly walked, Hyunjin turned to face Minho with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Minho noticed and squeezed Hyunjin’s hand, encouraging to go on.

“You know,” Hyunjin started, his voice teasing, “I was thinking…”

“Hmm?”

“Do I need to start calling you ‘Hyung’ now?” Hyunjin asked with a smirk, his tone light but clearly teasing.

Minho’s steps faltered for just a second, the tips of his ears turning pink. “You’re really going to bring that up now?” he said, trying to hide his embarrassment.

Hyunjin giggled. “Well, I mean, it’s only respectful to call my Hyung by his title, right?”

Minho gently nudged him with his foot. “I definitely won’t mind hearing you call me that, but you don’t need to overuse it, city boy.”

Hyunjin pretended to think it over for a moment. “Okay, Minho-ya.”

Minho stopped walking and shot him a playful glare, shaking his head in disbelief. “You’re asking for trouble.”

Hyunjin burst into laughter, pulling Minho closer. “Alright, alright. I’ll behave. For now.”

As they reached Hyunjin’s apartment building, Minho sighed and stretched his arms. “You know, it’s been a while since you last got a lesson in manners.”

Hyunjin blinked at him, confused for a moment before realising what Minho was hinting at. His face immediately flushed. “I-I have plenty of manners.”

“Pretty boys like you never learn,” Minho teased, his gaze dropping slightly.

Hyunjin stammered, but couldn’t stop smiling. “Did you know.. manners can be taught in many places and ways,” Minho continued, leaning in closer to him. “You know… like near a table, in bed or.. under water?”

Hyunjin’s breath hitched. “You’re saying you want… a shower? Together?”

Minho nodded, his voice low and teasing. “A nice, long shower. To wash away the nerves from today.”

Hyunjin’s face burned with the suggestion, but he couldn’t deny the magnetic force he felt between them. “Maybe I could be persuaded,” he managed to say.

They both shared a knowing smile, and soon enough, entered Hyunjin’s apartment.

***

Any thoughts of a proper tour had to wait, because the second the door had closed. Their body’s simply put—collided.

Minho captured Hyunjin’s lips in another heated kiss, more intense this time. Their movements were slow but deliberate, each kiss deepening as they let themselves get lost in the moment. His hands slid under Hyunjin's shirt, fingers tracing his skin, sending shivers down Hyunjin's spine.

They kissed like they couldn't get enough of each other, as if they'd been waiting for this all night.
Every touch, every sigh, every moment was filled with longing, and neither of them wanted to stop.

When they finally pulled back, breathless and flushed, Hyunjin smirked up at Minho, his voice soft and teasing. "Should I lead you to the shower, Hyung?"
Minho laughed, leaning down to steal another quick kiss.
"Didn’t need much persuasion huh?"
Hyunjin laughed and began to clumsily and still in between kisses, lead the way to his shower.

***

As they settled onto the couch, wrapped in each other's arms, still warm from the shower, overly relaxed and sleepy from, everything else, the tension from the day melted away, leaving only them.
It was the perfect ending to a night that felt like the beginning of something even more special.

***

The next morning, Hyunjin and Minho strolled hand in hand into a nearby café, where Seungmin was already waiting.

Seungmin stood up, politely shaking Minho’s hand and eyeing him with an analytical, almost smug look. Hyunjin could already feel the embarrassment crawling up his spine.

“Well, well,” Seungmin started, settling into his chair with an almost too-innocent smile, “Hyunjin’s finally brought the elusive boyfriend. Nice to meet you.”

Hyunjin groaned inwardly. This was going to be a long morning.

The two men hit it off immediately, though. The dynamic between Minho and Seungmin was something else—Hyunjin couldn’t help but think they acted like a divorced couple with the way they bantered. Strangely intellectually and almost distressing if Hyunjin wasn’t already used to their sense of humour.

Seungmin, however, had come prepared to embarrass Hyunjin thoroughly. Every story from their school days that Hyunjin wanted to remain buried was dragged into the light.

Hyunjin could only sit there, enduring the pain of having Minho hear things Hyunjin needn’t Minho to hear.

Minho, of course, was enjoying every second of it, his laughter filling the café every time Seungmin mentioned an embarrassing moment.

Although, he joined in on teasing him, he softened it with a kiss to Hyunjin’s temple when Seungmin went to the bathroom.

“You’ve been pouting the whole time, you’re so cute. Don’t worry, I’ll get the same treatment from Chan next time.”

Hyunjin’s heart fluttered, and the teasing from earlier seemed to melt away.

By the time Seungmin returned, they had about fifteen more minutes of light conversation before everyone stood to leave. Outside the café, Seungmin said his goodbyes, giving Minho an approving nod.

***

As Minho and Hyunjin made their way back to where Minho had originally parked his car, they were both quiet, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment. Hyunjin leaned closer into Minho, their fingers still laced together. When they arrived at Minho’s car, Hyunjin stopped, tugging Minho toward him by the collar.

Minho, leaning back against the car, smiled. “What’s this?”

“I just…” Hyunjin blushed, but there was a playful glint in his eye as he tugged Minho down into a deep kiss. His hands slid to Minho’s nape, holding him close as their lips moved together, the warmth and familiarity between them growing with each second.

When they finally pulled away, breathless, Hyunjin rested his forehead against Minho’s shoulder. “I’m glad you came this weekend,” he whispered.

Minho’s hand came up to brush through Hyunjin’s hair. “I’m glad too. I wasn’t expecting it to go this well, honestly.”

Hyunjin tilted his head. “What do you mean?”

“I knew Chan would like you, since Felix did. But your friends… I thought they might be a little more snobby or hard to get along with. I mean, city people…”

Hyunjin rolled his eyes. “You and your stereotypes. It’s cute.”

Minho scoffed. “Well, you have your own city stereotypes about me.”

“And most of them have been true,” Hyunjin said with a smirk.

“Oh really?” Minho raised an eyebrow. “Well, the only one I can debunk is that all city people are snobby. Because you and your friends… well, you’re not all snobby.”

Hyunjin shook his head but couldn’t stop smiling. “You’ll come to love it here.”

“I don’t know, city boy,” Minho teased, pulling Hyunjin close again, “the only thing bringing me here is you. And maybe my aunt’s supply run every few months.”

Hyunjin kissed him again, softer this time. “Next time, I’ll take you to all my favorite places.”

Minho smiled into the kiss. “I’ll be looking forward to it.”

Before Minho got into his car, he told Hyunjin, “By the way, I want to bring you back to the farm soon. My neighbors got some new uh.. pets. I think you’ll be interested.”

“Pets?” Hyunjin tilted his head in confusion.

Minho grinned. “It’s a surprise. You’ll find out next time you visit.”

Hyunjin pouted, and Minho kissed the pout right off his lips before finally getting into his car.

“I’ll text you when I get back,” Minho promised through the open window.

“I already miss you,” Hyunjin confessed softly, leaning into the car window.

“I’m just a text away,” Minho reminded him, squeezing his hand gently before starting the engine.

Hyunjin stepped back, waving as Minho drove off. The lingering warmth of their kisses and the promise of another visit soon made him smile all the way home.
