Sore loser

Summary:

Gordie's always been a sore loser, at least Raihan's there to cheer him up

Work Text:

Gordie closed the door behind him as he entered one of the stadium's many lockers. He didn't even bother locking it, he just threw his bag onto the bench before sitting down next to it.

He took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair. He leaned his elbows on his thighs. One of legs kept bouncing, he tried to pin it down to the ground with his arm but he eventually gave up, it'd be better to let his energy out some way.

He had been so close to winning, only for the whole battle to be switched at the very last moment by Gloria's inteleon. Arceus, even Leon had given him an easier time battling!

Gordie leaned his back on the wall. He took another deep inhale before he closed his eyes. He didn't know how long he stayed there, just thinking, before there was a knock on the door.

"Gords?" A familiar voice called out from outside. It was Raihan, he forgot the gym leader never missed a single one of Gordie's battles. "You there?"

Gordie opened one of his eyes and looked towards the closed door. He stayed quiet for a few seconds before speaking up. "Yeah, 'm here."

"Am I allowed to come in?" Raihan asked. Gordie tapped his finger on the bench, considering the request.

Gordie combed through his hair with his hand, making sure no strand was out of place before responding. He didn't want to embarrass himself in front of his boyfriend more than he already did. "The door is unlocked, go ahead."

A click of the handle and the door opened. Raihan entered the room, his rotom phone floating nearby. His icy blue eyes immediately searched for Gordie, as soon as he did, a smile appeared on Raihan's face. "There's the man of the hour. Almost thought I lost ya."

"Rai," Gordie leaned his head on his palm. He didn't turn towards Raihan, he stared at the wall in front of him.

Raihan closed the locker's door before taking a seat next to the blond, crossing his legs as he got comfortable. "Ouch, so cold, to your own boyfriend even."

Gordie didn't respond, instead, he leaned into Raihan, pressing his shoulder against his. He could feel Raihan's gaze focus on him, he avoided turning his head.

Raihan wrapped an arm around his shoulders, his fingers instantly sought out Gordie's hair, twirling the blond strands. "Are you really that upset, dandelion?"

Gordie offered a small hum before leaning his head on Raihan's shoulder. His leg continued to bounce. "What do you think?"

Raihan chuckled. "I think you're bein' a little to harsh on yourself, you did great."

"I still lost," Gordie responded.

"You ran Gloria's team up a wall though," Raihan reached his free hand over to Gordie's, he interlocked their fingers. "Lee struggled to get her down to her third pokemon during the last tournament and you did it before the ten minute mark."

Gordie looked down at their hands. "I guess, she still wiped out my team."

Raihan gave an overdramatic sighed before pulling his hand away from Gordie's. Gordie already missed the touch.

"Baby, darling," Raihan cooed. He placed his hand under Gordie's chin and turned his head over to look at him. The blond's face went red. "You're the closest anyone's ever gotten to defeatin' Gloria, give yourself a little more credit, will you?"

Gordie opened his mouth to protest again but Raihan shut him up with a quick peck to his lips. Gordie forgot what he was going to say.

Raihan tilted his head to the side ever so slightly so that he could press a sweet kiss to Gordie's cheek. Gordie felt his face as burning.

Raihan pulled away, a cheeky smile on his face. "How 'bout I take you out for dinner, hm? My treat."

"You already payed last time-" Gordie responded. Raihan pressed his thumb against Gordie's lips to shut him up.

"C'mon, let's celebrate!" Raihan spoke up. Gordie's eyes were drawn towards the dimples of Raihan's cheeks. "But, if you're so insistent in keeping the record..."

Raihan winked at him. Gordie blushed. "You can pay me back some other way later."

All it took was Raihan go start talking for Gordie to falter, didn't it? Gordie sighed.

"Alright, fine, you win."

Raihan shot him a smile before he stole another quick kiss from Gordie. He leaned back, pulling his arms away from his boyfriend. "That's more like it! I'll pick you up at seven, alright?"

Gordie sighed, though a smile wormed it's way into his face. "Alright, I'll see you there.”
