Chapter Text
People have always dreamed of being something special. Everyone ponders what superpower they would have if superpowers were real. But dreams are just dreams. Humanity is as normal and powerless as it has always been. People live normal lives, unbothered by mundane daily tasks. In the country of Japan, people work their hardest in every circumstance. They work long hours and jobs in order to afford food and housing. They go to school and do their best to learn everything they can. Much of the time, this dedication to working leads to burnout. When that happens, people want something to turn to in order to cheer them up and help them push through. One man saw this epidemic of burnout, stress and depression, and wondered what he could do to make a change. He saw that people liked to eat at small cafes with hot morning coffee and gently flavored pastries. He had always been the cook of the house in his family, and after many months of thinking, he finally figured out the solution to his dilemma. He would use his skills in cooking to open up a cafe of his own. He would serve all sorts of delicious dishes that would make people smile, and he would make the atmosphere of the place feel small, quaint, cheerful, and safe. And so, he did just that.
At first, the small cafe, tucked away in the back streets of Tokyo, had limited business. Only locals in the area knew it was there. Time passed, and more people spread word about the cafe, until eventually, the cafe was extremely busy all the time, with nearly constant wait lines down the street. People were so excited to get a taste of this cafe’s food and experience its atmosphere. The man was glad that business was booming. He loved seeing the smiles his food brought to the faces of his many customers.
As the years passed by, and as society evolved, the man grew too old to work. He passed down the business and all of his recipes to his son. The son worked hard to keep the business alive. But times were changing, and the cafe was struggling to keep up with the modernity of other, newer restaurants. So the son made the difficult decision to move the business to a bigger and better location. He moved the business to a location in the heart of Shibuya, one of the busiest districts in Tokyo. With the move came massive success. The son continued to modernize the business while also attempting to keep the homey, comfortable, and friendly feel it always had. Finally, it’s come to the modern day. The son of the man who founded the cafe had long since retired and handed down ownership of the restaurant to his own son. His name was Nezu.
Nezu kept the cafe his grandfather had founded alive. He took inspiration from overseas, using diners from the USA as inspiration for cafe proceedings. He expanded the menu to include more American foods such as burgers and pizza. Many times had larger companies attempted to buy the business off of Nezu. But every time he refused. This was HIS business to run, and he was going to keep it that way. Nowadays, the business is highly successful, seeing constant attention, and high profits. It remains the only location, and people are excited to eat there if they can. Nezu is not only the owner of the restaurant, but also its head manager. He works closely with his employees to ensure that everyone is doing their best, while also staying content with their work.
UA cafe started as a dream, built on ambitious hopes to bring joy to all people. Now, it is a staple of Tokyo’s food scene. It’s a must try on almost every food blogger's list. It’s top rated, and remains the only location to this day. Its owner and manager, Nezu, is proud to call this business his own. He keeps his father and grandfather’s dream alive. UA cafe is the main setting for a story of love and discovery. It is the setting for tragedy and grief. It is the greatest cafe in Tokyo’s history.
