It was an early morning day in the peaceful PaRappa Town as the town’s titular hip hop hero, PaRappa, woke up to the bright sun rays covering his face. He sat up, stretching his arms towards the ceiling before sporting his iconic light blue tank top, baggy dark blue pants, red sneakers and orange beanie.
Once that was all said and done, the pup then went to the bathroom to brush his teeth, letting the mouthwash gargle in his mouth for a few seconds before finally spitting it down the drain.
He rushed down the stairs, eager to make himself a bowl of his favorite cereal; Street Puffs. The name sounded a bit odd for a cereal that consisted of peanut butter and chocolate corn puffs, but PaRappa didn't care, for it was the flavor that mattered the most!
While rummaging through the cabinets, he grabbed a ceramic bowl to go along with his spoon, eyeing the box he hid in the back for safekeeping. This was it, the moment he was waiting for! Now all he needed was some milk and he'll be on his way.
As PaRappa began humming a small tune to inadvertently hype himself up, there was one issue that arose once he opened the door to the fridge; They ran out of milk.
“Hmm…” He squinted both eyes, rubbing a hand back and forth against the fur on his chin before opting to close the door.
“Well shoot, we don’t got any milk!” He, once again, stated the obvious while placing his hands on his hips, shaking his head in disapproval. This was unacceptable, he had to do something and fast!
So PaRappa bolted over to where his skateboard resided and went outside to take a nice cruise down the pavement.
After a few minutes or so of whistling downtown, his skateboard came to a screeching halt as PaRappa had finally arrived at Ron’s Convenience Store.
Once he stepped inside, he found himself stricken by a slight fear upon sighting a certain punk girl staring at the candy section. It was Rammy, the polar opposite of his other friend, Lammy, and a notorious guitarist from hell.
‘What was she doing here? Doesn’t she usually hang out in Hell?’ PaRappa thought to himself, realizing that it was rude to stare at someone for a certain period of time.
“Yo, Rammy!” He mustered up the courage to greet the ram, who seemed to be more focused on the candy rather than him. That was, until her ears perked up at the sound of footsteps coming closer.
“Hey, Mutt.” She greeted back with a smirk, calling him by his unfortunate nickname.
“Lookin’ at candy?”
“Yeah, kinda wanted to try something on Topside for once. You can only eat blood orange flavored chocolates for so long before your taste buds grow numb.” She explained with an audible groan, annoyed that she couldn’t eat her favorite candies for a while.
PaRappa could only nod in understanding, recalling the time he ate noodles for weeks on end after winning that coupon before growing sick of it.
“Yeah, I guess that’s fair.” Was the only response he could think of at that exact moment, eyeing the candies in an attempt to be her second set of eyes before a certain brand caught his attention.
“Ooo, you should try the Kit Kats, they’re really good, especially some of the new flavors they’ve been coming out with!” PaRappa pointed at the chocolate bars in question, wagging his tail like a proud dog who found his owner’s lost item.
The ram looked at the item and picked up a set of strawberry flavored Kit Kats with a nod. Pink usually wasn’t her cup of tea but it doesn’t hurt to try something new every once in a while.
“Alright… I’ll give ‘em a shot, I guess.” She seemed to thank the pup, ruffling up his beanie a bit before pulling it down to cover his eyes.
“What ‘bout you? What are you up to?” She asked, looking down at him.
“Oh, I’m here to pick up some milk. My mom and dad forgot to buy some, so I’m getting it for us!” He explained, unbothered by the fact that Rammy obscured his vision.
“You still live with your folks?” She asked with a raised brow.
“In this economy? Yes I do.” The pup nodded his head proudly, slightly lifting his beanie up to get a better look at the girl.
“Huh, fair enough. Well I’m off, catch ya later, dude.” She used a set of fingers to form a peace sign at him before walking up to the cash register to pay for her chocolate bar.
PaRappa waved her off, turning back to complete his personal mission of obtaining milk as he went up and down the aisles until he finally found what he was looking for; a jug of the creamy white liquid that helped get any morning right, it was even two percent!
By the time he got to the register, Rammy had already left with her candy bar in tow.
This seemed to have upset PaRappa a bit, as he was hoping she would’ve waited for him to get his carton before heading back home. But that was alright because deep down he knew he’d eventually see her again.
Once he got his milk, PaRappa got on his skateboard and headed home, embracing the warmth of the morning sun.
After reaching the front door, he set the skateboard down by the porch and went inside while returning to his breakfast setup. He poured a bowl full of the Street Puffs with milk and sat down with a content sigh, lifting up his spoon to munch on the deliciousness in front of him.
All in all, it was a pretty productive morning for our favorite Hip Hop Hero.
