Buck was glad that they didn't steal a firetruck (one count of theft was enough for one day in Buck's eyes) but drove to Harbor Station in Buck's Jeep. When they got their Buck saw probably the hottest person he'd ever laid eyes on in his entire life. The man had obviously naturally curly hair that was styled straight, dark blue eyes that made Buck feel like he was drowning, and a perfect face. He was in a flight suit that matched his eyes. Buck was so transfixed by the man that he didn't notice Eddie introduce himself until Chimney nudged Buck in hopes of getting him to do the same.
“Uh sorry, I'm Evan Buckley. Thank you for agreeing to help us with this, by the way.” Buck said, earning himself confused looks from both Eddie and Chimney.
“I'm Tommy Kinard, and I'm happy to help you guys.” Tommy said while flashing Buck a bright smile that melted Buck's heart quicker than he ever thought possible. Buck brushed off the gooey feeling that Tommy's smile gave Buck, not knowing what it meant.
“How about you go get Hen and we'll wait for you in one of these helicopters?” Chimney said in hopes of getting Tommy and Buck to finally stop staring at each other.
“Go ahead and wait for me in the yellow helicopter, it's mine technically.” Tommy said before walking toward the main area of the station while Eddie, Buck, and Chimney walked over to the yellow helicopter to wait for him. Before walking toward the chopper, Buck looked at Tommy's ass which Buck had to admit was impressive. When they were in the helicopter is when Chimney and Eddie decided to confront Buck.
“What the hell was that, Buck?” Chimney asked out of pure confusion and curiosity, not remembering the last time Buck had introduced himself as Evan without the follow-up of Buck.
“I have no idea. I was so nervous that I forgot to mention that I'm Buck.” Buck said while fidgeting in a way that he hoped no one would notice.
“Alright you guys, they're heading this way.” Eddie said while grabbing Hen's turnout jacket. Buck might've been misinterpreting things, but when Tommy opened the door to the helicopter, Buck could've sworn that Tommy smiled at him.
They had finally gotten everyone out of the cruise ship safely (everyone that was still alive anyway) when Buck noticed that everyone was riding in different helicopters. He also noticed that Tommy wasn't riding with anyone but Bobby and Corey so Buck decided to ride with them.
“Tommy, do you mind if I ride up front with you?” Buck said. He didn't know why but Buck wanted to spend as much time with Tommy as Buck could. Buck convinced himself that it was because he wanted to be friends with Tommy, unaware of his true feelings.
“I don't mind it at all, Evan.” Tommy said while turning around to face Buck. Buck blushed at the use of his name while feeling weirdly grateful that he got nervous and forgot to tell Tommy that everyone called him Buck. It wasn't until after Buck walked past Bobby and Athens that he decided to ask Tommy for his number.
“Real quick, Tommy. I was wondering if I could get your number.” Buck asked nervously which earned him a smile from Tommy in response.
“Sure, but I have to admit, usually guys wait until they know me for at least 12 hours before trying to get with me.” Tommy joked, making Buck blush and stutter horribly. Buck quickly scrambled for an excuse for wanting Tommy's number and quickly came up with the perfect one.
“I wasn't trying to hit on you or anything like that, I just wanted to be able to contact you if I decided that I wanted a tour of harbor.” Buck said, convincing himself but not Tommy.
“Give me your phone.” Buck did as Tommy commanded, not understanding why that tone made him half hard, and handed Tommy his phone. Buck watched as Tommy put his number into Buck's phone before handing it back.
“There, now you can contact me whenever you need to. You know, for the tour.” Buck watched as Tommy walked away from him, mainly watching Tommy's ass again. When Buck drove away from the station he didn't go home, instead he went to his sister's house because he needed to talk to her about what just happened. He pulled up to her house right when Chimney was and managed to convince him to let Buck in.
“Hey sis. I know I didn't tell you I was gonna come over, and I'm sorry for that, but I really need to talk to you right now.” Buck said as he entered Maddie's house and walked to the kitchen where he could hear her messing around in the cabinets.
“You know I don't mind, Buck. So, what do you need to talk about?” Buck sat down at Maddie's table before answering her question.
“It's more like I need to rant about someone than I need to talk.” Buck said while grabbing a freshly cut apple slice off of the cutting board in front of Maddie.
“What did someone piss you off or something?” Maddie asked while offering Buck the rest of the apple slices off of the cutting board before grabbing another apple to cut for herself.
“No, this isn't a bad rant. I'm guessing you've already heard about the capsized cruise ship rescue?” Buck said while accepting the offered apple.
“From multiple fronts, yes.” Maddie said confused and hoping that Buck will soon get to his point.
“Well Tommy, the pilot who helped us, was so freaking cool. Like, not only did he do something that not many pilots can do and flew into a hurricane, but he also literally landed the helicopter on the belly of a freaking capsized cruise ship. How cool is that?” Buck said while once again getting that odd gooey feeling that he once again brushed off, or tried to at least.
“Yeah that is pretty cool.” Maddie said while sitting down next to Buck and preparing herself for the hours long talk she was about to have with Buck.
