Work Text:
Five little ducks went out to play.
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack, quack, quack.
But only four little ducks came back.
"Shouldn't Aisha be back by now?" Flora asked her friends when she noticed that the sun was beginning to set.
"Oh, don't worry about her." Stella replied, sitting atop of her unfolded chair, looking in a mirror, trying to straighten her hair. "She's totally in her element here."
Wanting a break from school and all the crazy things happening, the Winx had gone on a camping trip in the woods. They had just set up camp when Aisha had said that she was going to check out the river nearby.
That had been 3 hours ago.
"But she's been gone for quite a while now. We should check on her." Said the plant fairy.
"I agree. I'll go look for her. Don't worry, Flora, she probably lost track of time." Musa said with a grin. "I'll be back soon."
Musa left the same direction that Aisha had gone in.
Flora watched her go with an uneasy feeling.
Four little ducks went out to play.
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack, quack, quack.
But only three little ducks came back.
"You worry too much, Flora. We came here to relax. Everything will be alright." Bloom said when she saw Flora was still worrying.
The sun was getting real low, the last of its light slowly giving way to the night.
"Girls, I have a bad feeling about this. Musa's been gone too long. Something is wrong." Flora said once again.
"There is no need to panic just yet. Statistically speaking they are just lost. Once we light our fire, they will know where to go." Tecna said while continuing to type on her phone. "We haven't been in these parts of the woods before. It is not that unusual."
Bloom nodded. "Tecna's right, there's nothing to worry…"
Just then, the nearby bushes rustled.
"Who's there?" Bloom said, walking in between the girls and the spot where the movement was.
No answer.
Cautiously Bloom went in to check it out and disappeared into the bushes, leaving the others to wait anxiously.
Three little ducks went out to play.
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack, quack, quack.
But only two little ducks came back.
"Bloom? Are you alright?" Flora asked when it went quiet.
No answer.
"Okay, haha, Bloom. Very funny. You got us. Come out now." Stella said, hiding her fear, putting down her mirror to stand up.
It was then that the sun completely passed over the horizon. Everything went dark.
If the remaining girls weren't so scared, they would have noticed that the stars weren't shining.
Flora grabbed unto Stella. "I knew it. We're in danger."
"C-Calm down, Flora. There's nothing out here that can harm us." Stella replied, faking her confidence. "R-Right, Tecna?"
They looked to where Tecna had been, only to find her spot empty.
"T-Tecna? Where are you?"
Two little ducks went out to play.
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack, quack, quack.
But only one little duck came back.
Flora and Stella were the only ones left. Both scared out of their mind, hugging each other for dear life.
A low growl sounded nearby. Followed by a howl of anguish. Followed by multiple. The sound was now coming from every direction at once.
It was deafening.
And then suddenly Stella was ripped from Flora's grasp by some invisible force.
Stella screamed until all sound just stopped.
One little duck went out to play.
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack, quack, quack.
But none of the little ducks came back.
Flora was panicking. Breathing quickly and looking all around.
But now only the quiet greeted her.
There was no sound, no light, nothing.
Flora was all alone and very scared.
"N-No! I refuse to give up like that." Gathering all the courage she had left, Flora was going to get her friends back!
She had to.
Following her instinct, she walked out into the darkness, ready to face anything.
Mother duck went out to play.
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack.
Quack
Quack
…
