Megan thinks she's going to kill Lara.
Megan has known for a while that she's madly, irrevocably in love with her groupmate. Lara has known this too—perhaps even longer than Megan herself. And now, Lara is actively cuddling with the object of Megan's affection, live, for the whole world to see. The moment this livestream ends, Megan is going to walk into Lara's room and stab her with the new knives Sophia bought last week for Cookielicious.
Megan prides herself on being generally calm and collected. She doesn't mind when plans are canceled, she lets Yoonchae eat her snacks sometimes, and she doesn't even honk when people cut her off in traffic. But she will also maintain that Lara Raj is fully capable of being the devil incarnate. Watching this unfold in real time makes Megan's eye twitch. Half of her mind is already imagining storming into that hotel room and physically ripping them apart.
"Dani! I love you so much."
Megan is going to kill Lara right now.
Someone needs to sedate her before she separates skin from bone.
"Awwww, love you too, babes."
Never mind-Megan is going to kill herself. She is about to create a scandal that will eclipse anything else happening with HYBE right now. She is going to be the sole cause of a news story that will rock the world, and it's all Lara's fault. Megan hopes Lara knows she'll be going in her suicide note, full legal name and all.Everything that has happened in the last five minutes is Megan's 13th reason.
Megan turns her phone off before she can throw it across the room.
She genuinely starts to consider breaking into their hotel room to wedge herself between them. She's absolutely not being dramatic right now. Sure, Daniela has told Megan she loves her too, but never in front of thousands of people on a livestream. Daniela shouldn't be telling anyone she loves them, anyway-not when she and Megan are clearly soulmates (Daniela just doesn't know it yet).
In the midst of her violent daydreams, Megan suddenly remembers something: they're streaming on Daniela's phone. This means she can send as many threatening messages to Lara as she wants without Daniela knowing. She turns her phone back on and quickly scrolls away from the cursed livestream.
to: lara
back the fuck off.
Megan tunes back into the livestream just in time to catch Lara's phone dinging in the background.
Then Lara does the unthinkable. She reads Megan's message all the way through and has the audacity to laugh before putting her phone on Do Not Disturb. This is it. This is the moment Megan goes in there and crashes out in front of thousands of Eyekons. We all knew it would happen eventually, but no one expected it to be so soon.
"What is it, girl?" Daniela asks with that stupidly beautiful voice of hers.
"Megan's being stupid," Lara replies.
Megan swears she can hear angels singing. It's so over.
"Tell her to come here and join us!" Daniela makes grabby motions with her free hand (the hand that isn't unfairly trapped by Lara's). Who is Megan to deny such a perfect angel, even when she's in such a shit mood?
Megan immediately leaves her hotel room and heads toward Daniela's.
She should've probably checked her appearance in the mirror before storming out, but who cares when every nanosecond she spends away means that evil woman might be making moves on her future wife?
The hotel is pretty nice, and they're on one of the higher floors. Megan only has to walk past Sophia and Yoonchae's room to reach the one where the love of her life and the bane of her existence are waiting.Megan wishes she and Daniela could share a room, but they agreed to stick to their usual group arrangements, leaving Megan trapped with Lara.
Megan stops in front of the door, hearing the chatter of Lara and Daniela from inside. She snatches the key from under the rug and shoves it into the lock, making sure to make enough noise to alert the two girls of her arrival.
Megan stands outside the door for a second longer than intended, her hand hovering over the knob. She was going to storm in and tear Lara to shreds, but now that she’s here, something about the whole thing feels off. What exactly is she planning to say? “Stop cuddling with Lara, I love you”? Or maybe, “You’re my soulmate, can’t you see it?” Ugh. Too direct. Too clingy. She doesn’t want to sound like a helpless baby who needs her mommy.
But then she hears Daniela’s laughter through the door. The light, carefree sound that always manages to squeeze her heart. Megan can’t back out now.
She twists the key in the lock and pushes open the door, walking into the room like she owns the place—well, at least trying to. The second she steps inside, her confidence wavers. Lara is sprawled out on the bed, scrolling through her phone, and Daniela is sitting cross-legged beside her, grinning at something on the livestream.
Megan feels out of place. But when Daniela’s eyes light up at her entrance, she tries to convince herself she belongs here. “Megan! You came!” Daniela’s grin widens, her hand still lazily held out from earlier as if she’d been waiting for this exact moment. “Come sit with us!”
Megan awkwardly stands at the edge of the bed. She glances at Lara, who gives her a lazy smirk as if to say, Good luck. Megan suppresses the urge to kick her off the bed and beat her until she’s a red stain on the ground.
“I, uh…” Megan’s voice is stuck in her throat. She can’t back out now. She needs to say something. She clears her throat. “I actually came here to talk to you, Dani.”
“Me?” Daniela blinks, clearly not picking up on the sudden seriousness in Megan’s voice. “What about?”
Lara raises an eyebrow, making a show of sliding off the bed with an exaggerated stretch and taking the phone with her. “Well, I’ll leave you two to it.” She sends Megan a wink before heading out the door, and Megan swears she’ll get her revenge later. But for now, she’s alone with Daniela.
It’s now or never.
“Okay, so…” Megan sits down beside Daniela, suddenly feeling the weight of everything. The words are there in her head—I love you. I’m in love with you. You’re my soulmate—but her tongue is suddenly heavy, and her heart is pounding like a bird trying to escape from its cage.
Daniela tilts her head, waiting patiently, but still with that warm smile, as if this is just another casual conversation.
“I’ve been thinking a lot lately, and…” Megan starts, trying to sound casual but feeling like she’s going to implode. “About… you and me.”
“Me and you?” Daniela repeats, her tone playful but genuinely curious. “What about us?”
“Yeah, like…” Megan gestures vaguely with her hands, already frustrated with herself. “I just… I think there’s something special between us, you know? Like we’ve always been close, and I feel like maybe we’re, I don’t know, meant for something more…”
She cringes inwardly. Meant for something more? Could she be any more of a pussy? The words are right there, but she just cant make them leave her lips.
Daniela’s smile softens, but there’s no flicker of realization on her face. “Awww, Megs, I know what you mean! You’re one of my best friends! We do have something special. I don’t think anyone else really gets me the way you do.”
Friend? Megan’s stomach drops, but she tries not to let it show. She’s not giving up just yet. She can’t give up.
“Yeah, I mean, that’s part of it, but—” Megan hesitates. She’s veering off-course again. She glances down at her hands, fidgeting in her lap. “What I’m trying to say is, it’s more than that. I… I care about you a lot, Dani. Like… a lot.”
Daniela reaches over and puts a hand on Megan’s arm, a bright smile lighting up her face. Megan subconsciously leans into the contact. “Aww, I care about you too! You’re seriously the best, Megan. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Okay, Megan thinks. This isn’t going how I imagined. Her heart is hammering in her chest, and the words she needs to say—I love you—are stuck behind her teeth. She tries to push forward anyway.
“Right, but, like…” She falters, trying to find the right way to phrase it. “I don’t mean just like that. I mean, more than that. Like…” She gestures vaguely again, and it’s clear from Daniela’s expression that she’s totally lost.
“More than that?” Daniela echoes, frowning in confusion. “Like… you mean, you’re thinking of starting a project together? A sub-unit?”
Megan resists the urge to scream. “No! Not a project!”
Daniela laughs lightly, but it’s the kind of laugh you give when you don’t understand the punchline. Like Megan is telling some elaborate joke that she can’t quite grasp. “Then what, Megs?”
There’s a long pause as Megan tries to gather herself. This was supposed to be so much simpler in her head, but the way Daniela is looking at her, all open and innocent, makes the confession feel like an impossible mountain to climb.
Megan sighs, leaning back on her hands, her confidence drained. “I just… I think I want to be closer to you, Dani. In a different way.”
Daniela looks thoughtful for a second, her brow furrowing. “You want to… switch room assignments or something? Like, share a room instead of being with Lara?”
Megan feels like banging her head against the wall until her skull dents. How is she not getting this?
“Not like that…” Megan says, her voice growing softer. “I mean, I… I want to be with you. Like, with you.”
The words hover between them, heavy with implication, but the understanding still doesn’t click in Daniela’s eyes. “Oh, like spend more time together? We can totally do that! I’ve been wanting to hang out more anyway. Let’s plan a day, just you and me!”
Megan feels her stomach twist with both affection and frustration. Daniela’s bright optimism is part of why she fell in love with her in the first place, but it’s also making this conversation impossible. She’s just so oblivious.
“Yeah… yeah, let’s do that.” Megan forces a smile, even though her chest feels tight. She’s given up, for now.
“Great! I’ll message you later with some ideas. I’m excited!” Daniela grins and leans forward to wrap Megan in a quick, warm hug. The touch sends a shiver down Megan’s spine, but it’s bittersweet.
As Daniela pulls away, her attention shifts, leaving the room to find where Lara took her phone, completely unaware of the confession that just crashed and burned beside her.
Megan stares at her for a moment longer, heart heavy, and then lets out a quiet sigh. Maybe another time. Maybe she’ll try again when the words don’t feel like they’re choking her.
The next morning, Megan woke up feeling even worse than she had the night before. It wasn’t just the awkwardness of her failed confession—it was the lingering feeling that she’d completely blown her chance. Every time she replayed the conversation in her head, she felt the need to jump off the hotel balcony. The worst part? Daniela was probably none the wiser, smiling her way through the morning while Megan was drowning in embarrassment.
Groaning, Megan rolled over in bed, burying her face in her pillow. She had no idea how she was going to face anyone today, especially Daniela. Or worse—Lara.
She wasn’t ready to deal with Lara’s smug face.
But like clockwork, a knock echoed from the hotel door. Megan’s stomach tightened. It was probably Lara. She was supposed to meet her groupmate before they headed to rehearsal.
Megan debated pretending to be asleep, but the knock came again, louder and more insistent.
“Go away,” she muttered into the pillow. It was a futile hope.
“Megan, I know you’re awake,” came Lara’s voice, slightly muffled by the door but unmistakably sharp. “You’re not getting out of rehearsal, so just open up.”
Megan considered ignoring her again, but the idea of Lara dragging her out of bed by force wasn’t exactly appealing. With a heavy sigh, she pulled herself up, tossed on a hoodie, and opened the door just enough to glare at Lara.
“Are you done?” Megan grumbled.
Lara stood there, arms crossed, her signature smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. “Not quite. You and I need to talk.”
Megan rolled her eyes. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
Lara gave her a knowing look, one that made Megan’s irritation spike. “Oh, I think there’s plenty to talk about,” Lara said, stepping inside the room before Megan could stop her. “Like how you made a complete fool of yourself last night. Dani told me all about it.”
“Wow, thanks for the reminder,” Megan snapped, shutting the door a little too hard behind her. “Was that it? Or are you here to gloat some more?”
Lara shook her head, sitting down on the edge of Megan’s bed like she owned the place. “I’m not here to gloat. Trust me, I actually felt kind of bad for you.”
“Felt bad for me?” Megan scoffed, crossing her arms. “You’re the last person who’d feel bad for me.”
“Well, I did,” Lara said, with a rare touch of seriousness. “I could tell you were trying to say something important. It’s just… you didn’t exactly get your point across.”
“Yeah, no shit,” Megan muttered, sitting down on the bed across from Lara, still feeling like she wanted to disappear. “I thought I was being obvious.”
“You weren’t,” Lara said bluntly, leaning back on her hands. “You were so vague, I’m surprised Dani didn’t think you were asking her to join a business partnership or something. You have to be more clear.”
Megan scowled, remembering how Daniela did in fact think she was asking about a business partnership. “Thanks for the advice, Casanova.”
Lara rolled her eyes. “Look, I’m not the enemy here, Megan. I was trying to give you space to figure things out last night.”
Megan blinked. That was not what she’d expected to hear. “You… were?”
Lara sighed. “Yeah. Believe it or not, I’m not out to ruin your life. You’ve had this giant crush on Dani for ages, and as annoying as it’s been to hear you silently pine over her, I actually want you to do something about it. You deserve to at least try.”
Megan stared at her, dumbfounded. “Wait… so you want me to be with Daniela?”
Lara raised an eyebrow. “Why else would I leave last night and give you two time alone?”
“I… I thought you were just messing with me,” Megan admitted, feeling her cheeks heat up with embarrassment. “I figured you’d be all smug about it.”
“I’m smug about a lot of things,” Lara said with a shrug. “But not this. I’ve known how you feel for a long time, and honestly, Dani’s probably the only one who hasn’t caught on. She’s a bit… slow in that department.” Lara laughed softly, and it didn’t sound mocking—more like she genuinely found it endearing.
Megan felt a weird mixture of relief and disbelief. All this time, she’d been seeing Lara as some kind of rival, but it turned out Lara wasn’t just tolerating her—she was actually trying to help.
“So, you’re not into her?” Megan asked cautiously, trying to make sense of it all.
Lara shook her head with a small laugh. “Nope. Dani’s great, but not my type. Plus, I’ve seen the way she looks at you. She might not get it yet, but there’s something there.”
Megan’s heart skipped a beat. “Wait, you think she…?”
“I’m not saying she’s head over heels for you or anything,” Lara clarified quickly. “But there’s definitely something. You just have to be brave enough to say what you actually feel. Clearly.”
Megan sat there, stunned. All this time, she’d been worried that Lara was trying to steal Daniela away, but Lara had been rooting for her from the sidelines, giving her space she didn’t even know she needed.
“I… I don’t know what to say,” Megan mumbled, running a hand through her hair. “I thought were making fun of me.”
“I mean, you’re not wrong,” Lara said, smirking again. “You’re dense as hell. But I love you. And honestly, I’d rather watch you two figure this out than have to hear you whine about it any longer.”
Megan let out a short, incredulous laugh. “Wow. Thanks.”
Lara stood up, stretching her arms above her head. “Anyway, now that we’ve cleared that up, I suggest you actually try again. You know, with real words this time. Tell Dani how you feel, or you’ll never stop kicking yourself for not trying.”
Megan looked up at Lara, feeling a mix of gratitude and renewed determination. “You’re really not as much of an asshole as I thought.”
Lara grinned, walking to the door. “Don’t get too sentimental on me. I’m still gonna annoy the hell out of you every chance I get.”
“Of course you are,” Megan said, rolling her eyes, but there was a small smile on her face now. “But seriously… thanks, Lara. For real.”
Lara waved her off casually, already opening the door to leave. “Yeah, yeah. Don’t mention it. Just don’t blow it next time, okay?”
And with that, Lara was gone, leaving Megan sitting on the bed, her mind racing. Lara had been right about one thing: she couldn’t keep avoiding this. She needed to try again—this time, with no ambiguity, no half-hearted attempts. She had to be brave enough to tell Daniela the truth.
Megan pulled out her phone and stared at Daniela’s contact for a moment, her heart thudding in her chest. Then, with a deep breath, she started typing.
Megan stared at the screen of her phone, fingers hovering over the keyboard, nerves buzzing. Lara’s words echoed in her mind—Tell Dani how you feel, or you’ll never stop kicking yourself for not trying.. She couldn’t afford to be vague anymore. She needed to say it, or at least, start saying it. One step at a time.
Finally, she typed out a message.
to: dani 🌸
hey, can we meet after rehearsal? need to talk about something important
She hesitated for a second, then hit send before she could overthink it. She stared at the screen, heart pounding in her chest. A few moments later, Daniela’s reply lit up her phone:
from: dani 🌸
sure! is everything okay? you seemed a little off last night
Megan could practically hear the concern in Daniela’s voice. She worried her bottom lip between her teeth, tapping out a quick response.
to: dani 🌸
yeah everything’s fine! just need to talk in person lol. see you at rehearsal
There. She’d done it. Now all she had to do was survive the next few hours of rehearsal without killing herself or others.
Rehearsal started like any other day—well, for everyone except Megan. As soon as she stepped into the practice room, she felt Daniela’s eyes on her, a warm, welcoming presence that made her both excited and painfully aware of every movement she made.
Daniela was already stretching on the floor, her long curly hair pulled into a loose ponytail, strands falling around her face in that effortlessly beautiful way that drove Megan crazy. When Megan walked in, Daniela’s eyes lit up, and she smiled brightly. That smile always got to Megan, like a punch in the gut—in a good way.
“Megs!” Daniela waved her over excitedly. “Come stretch with me!”
Megan felt her heart skip a beat. “Sure,” she said, her voice a little too tight, but she crossed the room to sit next to Daniela. She tried to ignore the butterflies in her stomach as she joined her on the floor, stretching out her legs.
Daniela scooted a little closer, her shoulder brushing against Megan’s. It was such a small touch, but it sent a jolt through Megan’s entire body. She wondered, not for the first time, if Daniela had any idea what she was doing to her.
“You feeling okay?” Daniela asked softly, her voice laced with concern. She turned her head, looking straight at Megan with those wet hamster eyes. “You’ve been kinda quiet.”
Megan swallowed, her mind racing. It wasn’t the time to have this conversation, not here, not yet. But Daniela’s gaze made her feel like she had to say something.
“I’m fine,” Megan mumbled, forcing a smile. “Just… thinking.”
Daniela raised an eyebrow, her expression softening as she nudged Megan’s arm. “You always think too much. You know I’m here if you need to talk, right? Anytime.”
Megan nodded, trying to shake off the heavy feeling in her chest. She hated that Daniela was so sweet, so oblivious. It was like she had no idea how she was driving Megan absolutely insane just by being this close. Just being near her lights a blaze inside of Megan.
Before Megan could respond, their choreographer clapped his hands, calling everyone to the center of the room. “Alright, let’s get started! I want to run through the new routine and clean up a few sections.”
They all scrambled to their feet, taking their places. Megan found herself standing next to Daniela in the lineup—of course—and tried to focus on the choreography instead of how close Daniela was standing.
The music kicked in, and they began working through the routine, moving through the practiced steps, refining their timing, hitting the beats harder with each pass. Normally, Megan would lose herself in the rhythm, her body moving instinctively to the music, but today, she was hyper-aware of Daniela beside her.
And, to her surprise, Daniela seemed hyper-aware of her too.
Halfway through the routine, Megan noticed the way Daniela’s eyes kept darting toward her between moves, like she was trying to catch her gaze. During one of the breaks in the music, Daniela playfully nudged her with her hip, grinning at Megan with a mischievous glint in her eyes. It wasn’t the kind of look you gave just anyone.
Megan’s heart skipped a beat again, but she brushed it off. Don’t overthink it, hoe, she told herself, but Daniela was making it hard not to.
When they ran through the routine again, Megan felt Daniela’s hand graze her arm, a soft touch that lingered just a little too long. And during the next pass, when they moved into a partnered section of the choreography, Daniela’s hand found its way to Megan’s waist with a casual familiarity that made Megan’s head spin.
“You’re killing it today,” Daniela said breathlessly as they worked through the steps together, her hand still resting on Megan’s waist.
Megan couldn’t tell if it was the exertion from dancing or the way Daniela was looking at her that was making her breath hitch. She wanted to respond, but her voice caught in her throat. Instead, she just nodded, trying to keep her focus on the choreography.
But Daniela wasn’t done.
As they moved into a break in the routine, Daniela stepped closer again, leaning in just slightly, her voice low and teasing. “You seem distracted though, Megs. Got something on your mind?”
Megan almost busted everywhere. She opened her mouth to respond, but before she could, the choreographer called for another run-through, snapping the moment in half. Megan exhaled, relieved and frustrated all at once.
They worked through the routine a few more times, but Megan’s focus was long gone. Every time Daniela touched her or gave her one of those playful looks, it felt like she was unraveling a little more. By the time rehearsal ended, Megan was practically vibrating with nerves and unresolved tension.
As they cooled down, Megan stole a glance at Daniela. She was stretching again, her body loose and relaxed, her face glowing with post-rehearsal energy. And then, as if she could sense Megan’s gaze, Daniela looked up and smiled at her.
Megan’s heart skipped again.
“So, about that talk…” Daniela said, tilting her head in that way that made her look so effortlessly cute, like a puppy. Megan wonders if the world makes more sense at a 45 degree angle.“What’s up, Megs? You’ve got me curious.”
Megan felt the weight of her earlier message settle on her shoulders. She couldn’t back out now. She had to say something, had to at least try to explain what she’d been feeling.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead and took a deep breath. “Let’s grab some water, and I’ll tell you.”
“Sure,” Daniela said easily, standing up and following Megan out of the practice room. As they walked, Daniela’s hand briefly brushed Megan’s arm again, sending another jolt of electricity through her.
Megan’s mind raced as they made their way to the small water cooler in the hallway. She had to do this. She had to be brave. No more vague, half-baked confessions. This was her chance to say it—to make Daniela understand that this wasn’t just some casual friendship.
As they sipped their water, Megan looked over at Daniela, who was watching her with an expression that was equal parts curiosity and something else—something warmer, something less guarded than usual.
Megan swallowed her nerves. It was now or never.
“Dani…” Megan began, her voice shaky but determined. “I’ve been wanting to tell you something. Something important.”
Daniela blinked, her smile softening into something more serious, more intent. “What is it?”
Megan took another deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest. “I… I’ve been trying to tell you for a while now, but I think I haven’t been clear. I’ve been scared, honestly. But I have to say it.”
Daniela stepped a little closer, her gaze steady on Megan. “You don’t have to be scared, Megs. You can tell me anything.”
Megan’s chest tightened, and for a moment, she almost faltered again. But then, she saw the way Daniela was looking at her—really looking at her—and suddenly, everything felt a little less impossible.
“I think…” Megan’s voice was soft but sure now. “I think I’m in love with you, Dani.”
The words hung in the air between them, heavy and fragile, but Megan didn’t regret them. Not this time. Not ever.
Daniela’s eyes widened for a brief moment, but then her lips curved into a slow, warm smile—a smile that was different from any Megan had seen before. She took a step closer, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I was wondering when you were going to say it,” Daniela murmured, her hand reaching out to gently take Megan’s. “I’ve been waiting.”
Megan’s breath caught, her heart doing flips in her chest as Daniela’s hand slid around her waist, pulling her just a little bit closer. It was real. This moment was real.
Megan had no idea what to say, feeing like she was melting into a mushy puddle. Thankfully, she didn’t need to say anything. The way Daniela was looking at her now, the way her thumb brushed softly against Megan’s skin, told her everything she needed to know.
Daniela leaned in, her lips just a breath away from Megan’s ear, and whispered, “I think I’ve been in love with you too.”
Megan’s mind was spinning, her breath shallow as Daniela’s words settled in. I think I’ve been in love with you too. It was as if the world around her went completely still, the soft hum of the hallway’s fluorescent lights fading into the background.
Daniela pulled back just enough to meet Megan’s gaze, their faces so close now that Megan could feel the warmth of her breath. The smile on Daniela’s face was tender, knowing, like she had been waiting for this moment just as long as Megan had—maybe even longer.
Megan’s pulse raced. She had dreamed of this for what felt like forever, but now, standing here, her heart bare and exposed, she felt both exhilarated and terrified. Daniela’s eyes flicked down to her lips, and Megan’s breath hitched.
Is this really happening?
The seconds stretched out, tension building between them, electric and undeniable. Daniela’s hand, still resting at Megan’s waist, pulled her in closer, their bodies almost touching now. Megan couldn’t help but lean into her warmth, her heart pounding so loudly she was sure Daniela could hear it.
“Megs…” Daniela whispered, her voice low and intimate. “Can I…?”
Megan didn’t need her to finish the question. The answer had always been yes. Before she could second-guess herself, Megan nodded, her eyes fluttering shut as she tilted her face up toward Daniela.
That was all the invitation Daniela needed. In the next heartbeat, her lips were on Megan’s—soft, warm, and everything Megan had ever imagined.
The kiss was slow at first, tentative, like they were both testing the waters, unsure of how much to give. But then, something shifted. Megan’s hands found their way to Daniela’s shoulders, gripping her just a little tighter, and Daniela responded in kind, pulling her in closer until there was no space left between them.
It was like a dam had broken, all the emotions Megan had been holding back finally spilling out in the way their lips moved together. She felt Daniela smile into the kiss, her hand moving up from Megan’s waist to gently cradle her face, her thumb brushing against her cheek in a way that made Megan’s head spin.
Megan kissed her back with everything she had, pouring all her feelings—the frustration, the longing, the fear—into this one moment. It wasn’t perfect or polished, but it was real, and it was theirs.
When they finally broke apart, both of them were breathing hard, their foreheads resting together, still wrapped up in each other. Megan’s hands lingered on Daniela’s shoulders, and Daniela’s fingers traced slow, soft circles on Megan’s cheek.
For a moment, neither of them said anything. They didn’t need to. The air between them felt lighter now, the weight of unspoken words finally lifted.
Daniela was the first to break the silence, her voice barely more than a whisper. “That… was long overdue, don’t you think?”
Megan let out a breathy laugh, still catching her breath. “Yeah… just a little.”
Daniela smiled, her thumb brushing against Megan’s bottom lip. “Why didn’t you just tell me earlier, you goof?”
Megan’s cheeks flushed. “I don’t know… I was scared. I thought you didn’t feel the same way.”
“Well,” Daniela murmured, her smile turning playful, “I think I’ve made it pretty clear now, haven’t I?”
Megan’s heart swelled as she looked into Daniela’s eyes, which were sparkling with affection. “I don’t know,” Megan whispered, her smile growing. “You may have to kiss me more to find out.”
Daniela leaned in again, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Megan’s lips, this one even sweeter than the first. When she pulled back, she rested her forehead against Megan’s, their noses brushing together in a way that made Megan’s heart flutter.
“I guess that talk went well,” Daniela said with a grin.
Megan couldn’t help but laugh, the last of her nerves finally giving way to a flood of relief and happiness. “Yeah… I guess it did.”
For the first time in what felt like forever, Megan felt like everything was right. The tension, the fear, the uncertainty—they were gone. In their place was this new, thrilling possibility of what could be, and Megan couldn’t wait to explore it.
But for now, she was content to stay right here, with Daniela’s arms around her and the warmth of her lips still lingering on her skin.
