Regulus narrowed his eyes at James. “What are you wearing?”
James looked down at the green jumper that he’d stolen from his boyfriend’s drawer with a smile. “It’s laundry day. I had nothing to wear.”
Regulus huffed. “Normal people do laundry before they’ve completely run out of clothes.” He wanted to be annoyed at the way James was stretching his jumper but he was very intentionally not looking at the way the jumper pulled slightly across his boyfriend’s muscular chest and shoulders or how the jumper sat a bit too short. And James knew it. He reached up for a glass from the cabinet, the jumper pulling up and not falling back, staying sat above his hips.
Regulus to his credit didn’t change his expression.
“Maybe if someone didn’t steal my jumpers, I would have something to wear today,” James teased.
“For today, yes. But you still would wait to do laundry until you had nothing.”
“Yes. But I wouldn’t have to do laundry today.”
Regulus hummed. “Okay. I won’t steal your jumpers anymore,” he said with a shrug. “I’ll buy my own big jumpers and you’ll never have to worry about clean clothes or me giving you back clothes that smell like me or having people see me in something that’s yours .”
James’ eyes grew comically wide. “No, you should keep wearing my things. I’ll do laundry every single day and never complain and people will know that you’re mine.”
The corners of his mouth turned up. “I didn’t realize I only needed to make you a bit possessive and you’d do your laundry. I guess I won’t run out to the shops just yet.” He took a step forward, his hands going straight to rest on James’ exposed hips and pulled him into a kiss. The older man shuddered at the cold hands against his skin but leaned into the kiss with a hum.
“I’m not the only one who likes seeing their boyfriend in his clothes, am I?” James asked.
“Nope. I hate it.”
James raised an eyebrow. “Then maybe I should change.”
“Into what?” Regulus teased. “You have no clothes.”
“I don’t need clothes. In fact, neither of us do,” he pointed out with a goofy side smile.
Regulus looked a bit uncomfortable and James backed off.
“Or not. I stay in your jumper. You stay in your clothes. We can cuddle on the couch and watch a movie if you want.”
Regulus nodded. “It’s not… I just really don’t want to take off my binder.”
James took him by the face. “And you never have to. Well you do. You have to take breaks but you never have to be shirtless without a binder because you think that’s what I might want. You’re so incredibly handsome with and without it, love. I just want you to be comfortable. And your ribs be intact.”
Regulus kissed him. “Thank you. I love you.”
“I love you too, baby.”
“I want shirtless cuddles just with my binder,” he said quietly.
James smiled. “Then that’s what we’ll do.” James scooped him up into his arms and Regulus yelped. He carried his boyfriend to the couch, gently setting him down. His hands hovered at the hem of the shirt, wanting permission. Regulus nodded and James pulled the shirt off over his head.
“God, you are so handsome,” James told him.
Regulus’s hands made it to James’ hips, sliding under the hem and pulling off the small green jumper. James collapsed onto him and Regulus groaned under the comforting weight, relishing in the warmth of James’ skin.
At some point James had thrown on a movie, Regulus wasn’t sure what. He wasn’t paying attention either way. He was just enjoying the feeling of being close to James. James had moved off, no longer on top of him but was cuddling him, arms wrapped tightly around his waist. Regulus buried into James’ chest.
He isn’t sure when he drifted off but the movie volume is quiet and the screen is flashing as it cuts between scenes. James gently woke him up. “C’mon baby.” Regulus nuzzled deeper into him and James laughed, kissing the top of his head. “I need you up, love. You can’t sleep out here with your binder on.”
Regulus looked up at him with big eyes. He was comfortable and had no desire to get up, especially to take off his binder.
James shook his head. Those eyes could melt him any day of the week but not when it came to his boyfriend’s safety.
“Up, love. You need to take it off about now anyway.” He pulled Regulus into a sitting position despite the whine but made up for it with a kiss. “My laundry should be done. All nice and cozy and warm, just for you.”
Regulus liked that idea. With a small sleepy smile on his face, he pushed himself off the couch, James only a step behind him. James grabbed a nice warm hooded jumper from the dryer and plopped it all crumpled onto Regulus’ head like a hat, sleeves falling down off his head.
Regulus rolled his eyes, stepping off into the bathroom and changing into the warm clothes. He stepped out and James smiled, pulling him in to kiss him. “I really do love seeing you in my clothes. You’re so ridiculously handsome.”
Regulus felt so happy and warm, not just from the clothes fresh from the dryer. He really loved James. He loved how safe he felt, how James could pull him from a bad mood, how he loved with everything he had and did it loudly, and how he never made him feel like less of a man.
“I love you, James.”
“I love you too,” he said, kissing his cheek.
“No, James,” he pulled back. “I love you,” he said, looking directly in his eyes. “I love you so much.”
James’ face was all smiles. “I love you too, Reggie.” He pulled the shorter boy into a tight hug, kissing the top of his head. They stayed there for a long time before getting ready for bed.
