“Ma! Pa! Can we go for a walk, please~!” I look up at my parents with wide eyes, hopeful that they’ll say yes, they always do.
“I’m sorry pumpkin, but your father and I are going out for a bit to have some time for ourselves. I promise we’ll be back soon. We’ll take you on a walk then, okay?” The tall woman in front of me says, her face hidden behind a hood.
Her voice is always soft and calming, but now my heart feels empty. That wasn’t the only time they left me alone, it continued happening, more and more often, and now I’m almost always alone. Their gentle voices frustrate me. I know it’s just an act, they don’t really care about me. Why would they?
