Work Text:
The cold, emptiness of space had become a new home to you. Your crew was tired, but even so you marched on. The infinite chasm of space wouldn’t stop you from completing the mission.
Your home planet was a peaceful one. It’s tranquility attracted all sort of visitors from across the galaxies. But as with any play, there were bad actors on the loose. An mysterious race of aliens had abducted the crown jewel of your planet, princess Hina Hikawa.
Twin sister to Sayo Hikawa, the two were born first in line to the heir. However, to the peoples surprise, they would not fight over the throne, instead they agreed to both rule as equals. As the sun and the moon took turns to watch over your planet, they too would rule in both perfect synchronization and harmony. Eventually, a far wondering traveler arrived unto your planet to take the hand of princess Sayo. The brown haired traveler and princess Sayo would forge a bond unbreakable and unwavering. Eventually the traveler would ask the princess the princess to come with them, back to the travelers home world. While the princess was saddened at the thought of leaving her beloved kingdom, the people cheered her on, wishing nothing but happiness to the princess. While princess Hina was happy, knowing that her twin sister would spread peace and happiness across the universe, the departure of princess Sayo left a void in her heart. Her closest family had been taken away from her, and her heart would soon be filled with loneliness. At her lowest point, the villains struck, kidnapping her with the goal of turning her into the queen of their own barren planet. It happened in an instant, but on the night of the incident, a voice screaming “Help me!” could be heard across the land. The kingdom ordered anyone and everyone who had a spaceship to find princess Hina at all costs. For the sake of the kingdom nay the planet, they could not afford to lose another princess.
Billionaires, common farmers, everyone would embark in hopes of finding her, including yourself. While your team was not nearly as big or as many as others, they were of people who you could trust. Unfortunately the journey would prove to be far more perilous than what you had imagined. Spanning from various soldiers the kidnappers would send out to shoot down anyone they came across, to journeymen who would sabotage fellow citizens in order to reach the princess first. The cosmos had become an war field in an blink of an eye. The stress would get to your platoon, as their morals would only degrade as the journey went on. Yet you had no choice but to keep going. You could not bear seeing the beautiful princess be taken away by these foul people, you could not bear imagining the princess in the arms of those who dare shoot down their own kind. She deserved to be with someone better, if no one better would come, then the least you could do is prevent her from being with someone worse.
Easier said than done however, it had been months maybe even years since the incident, and no one had come even close to finding her. The days started to drag and the exhaustion was unbearable at times. The thought of just giving up and returning were tempting some days, but you and your crew kept grudging along. As long as you kept travelling, surely you would come across her.
The day was like any other. Waking up on the hard steel bed frames, followed up by eating simple rations from a can. As you went and started the main cockpit, you would finally see it, a glimpse of hope. A distress signal. It was faint, far away, but it was there. Your spirits were lifted and your crew rejuvenated, there was hope. Full speed ahead.
“Captain, were only 30 clicks away from the signal.” Your second in command, the lieutenant Ichigaya Arisa, reported to you.
“How are our supplies?”
“The main cannons are on standby, shield energy is at 70% and our fuel levels are at 66%.”
You closed your eyes for a second. “Shirokane, man the guns. Hiromachi, stay on watch duty, report any suspicious activity. Ichigaya, keep us steady on cours-”
“Captain! 3 unknown entities are heading our way!” Your chain of command was interrupted by the marksman, Shirokane Rinko, as she pointed to the hologram display.
You clicked your tongue. “Tch, now of all times? How far away are they?”
“Approximately 5 clicks, but they’re moving at 10 light years per second captain!” the Watchguard, Hiromachi Nanami added, as she began to type faster on her keyboard. “At this rate they’ll reach us in a matter of seconds!”
“Ready the cannons!”
“Aye aye!” The three answered in unison. The marksman flipped some switches before her, as soon as she did a loud whirring noise was heard across the ship.
“Target’s will come in sight in approximately 3 seconds Captain!”
“Keep us on course Ichigaya! We cannot afford to back down now. I leave whatever is heading towards us to you Shirokane!”
From the corner of your eyes, you could see 3 fighter like spaceships closing in on you. They wasted no time, as they opened fire as soon as you could catch a glimpse of them. The impact of the shots shook your ship violently. You knew that you would not last long if this kept going. The marksman began firing back, as the lieutenant pushed the steering handle further forward, accelerating your ship even more.
The enemies didn’t back down, resuming to chase you down. No matter how much you would accelerate, the enemy was not too far behind.
“One target down!” The watchman exclaimed, but there was no time to celebrate. The enemy shot faster than you could fly. At this rate the shield would be fully drained, at which by that point you would have already lost. You had faith in the marksman, you knew they were one of the best, but your ship was not built for a dogfight like this. You were running out of options, when the lieutenant’s voice pierced through the intense atmosphere.
“The source of the signal is in sight!”
You looked up to see a deep blue planet. As you flew closer, a audio message from the signal began to play. “Please help… help me now…” You realized the severity of the situation. There was no more time to play around. It truly was, now or never.
“No time to waste! Set our thrusters to maximum! Were landing on that planet no matter what!”
The lieutenant pushed the steering handle further forward. If your shield was already draining because of enemy fire, now it also had to withstand the heat of you entering orbit. The shaking grew stronger every passing second, but both you and your crew knew you had to keep going. It was the first and only glimmer of hope you had seen since embarking, it was beyond too late to give up now.
A ear deafening crash was followed by a flash of white, it all happened within a matter of nanoseconds. As you regained consciousness, the view around you began to set in. The wrecks of your ship were spread as far as you could see, and the foreign forestry filled the surrounding space. As you got up, the groans of your squadron emerged from the rubble.
“Everyone, are you okay?”
“Were okay captain.” The lieutenant answered before looking up to the sky. “But it won’t be long until they find us.”
“Look over there!” The watchman yelled while pointing to a building far away. Its white color stood out among the green scenery. While you couldn’t exactly make out its shape, it was eerily familiar to something you’ve seen before.
“Is that… a Church?” The marksman added, in a slightly confused tone.
Before you could make a response, a loud metal clanking sound came from behind.
“Everyone hide!”
Ignoring the pain, you jumped behind some bushes, with your crew members following right after. As you waited in silence, the figure of a metal giant walked by. As it passed by, you caught a glimpse of the sheer amount of weaponry it carried. Waiting for the terror to walk by, you saw as there were more of these giants roaming the area around the church. They were guarding it, and with the arsenal they were carrying, it’s clear they weren’t going to let anything they see walk away alive.
In baited breath you stayed put, trying to puzzle your next move together. Run in and risk death? Sneak up and take too long? Before you could even make your decision, the marksman ran past you.
“Go on captain! I’ll buy you some time!” The marksman ran towards the now fallen cannons of the ship. They were still whirring, with sparks coming out of them. No matter how little, they still had some energy in them. Before you could stop her she climbed on the seat, and began blasting like crazy.
As you stood up from hiding, hoping to help the marksman out, the lieutenant and the watchman push you in the other direction. “Don’t waste this chance captain!” Both the lieutenant and the watchman joined the marksman, fighting off the giants as much as they could.
It felt wrong, leaving your crew behind, but you had no choice. If you joined them now you’d waste their sacrifices. You ran towards the church and kicked down the door. Inside, a big alien stood across the princess, who was gowned in a gorgeous bridal dress. However, only one of the two was having fun here, as the princess was softly crying a top the podium. With the loud bang from the door, both of them turned to see you.
“Stay away from the princess you monster!”
You grabbed the gun in your holster and opened fire before the alien could make its move. A clean shot to the head. You rushed towards the princess. As you made your way on the podium, the princess jumped into your arms. When you caught her, you could feel her holding on to you tightly.
“Thank you my prince...”
Her body felt warm. Even though you had just met, she had already put her trust in you. You tightened your hug as well, making sure she was safe in your arms. As you looked in each others eyes, she slowly closed hers, and puckered her lips. You slowly drew your face nearer and nearer, until...
The harsh sound of your alarm woke you up.
“Hahaha! What a bopping dream you had Pareo-chan~” Hina said while sipping on her drink.
“Please stop laughing Hina-chan...” Pareo said while hiding her face.
The two were sitting at a cafe by the train station. It was a calm day, and Pareo just told Hina about her wild space themed dream. As a result, Hina was laughing to herself while Pareo was as embarrassed as she could get.
“Did it excite you? Seeing me in a wedding dress?”Hina asked in a teasing tone.
Somehow, Pareo turned even more red than before. “H- Hina-chan!” She said, waving her arms around all flustered. However, it seemed that Pareo’s reaction had the opposite reaction of what she hoped would’ve happened. Instead of stopping, Hina was now looking at her with puppy like eyes, begging to hear her response.
“O- Of course it did...” Pareo said, almost whispering at this point.
Hina’s puppy eyes turned into a wide smile, as she jumped forward and gave Pareo a hug. Pareo obviously was still extremely flustered, but slowly she also wrapped her hands around Hina and hugged her back. The two would stay like this for a little bit, until Hina’s phone began to vibrate.
“Oh, looks like they’re asking me to go back to the studio.”
“Already?” Pareo’s voice now was one of slight disappointment, like a dog who didn’t want their owner to go to work.
“I’m sorry Pareo-chan, but you know how busy Pastel Palletes is.” Hina said softly, stroking her hair before giving Pareo a small kiss on the forehead. “We’ll see each other again after the joint concert okay?”
Pareo let out a small whimper, still trying her best to convince Hina not to leave. “Okay...” she whimpered as she slowly let go of Hina.
“Bye-bye Pareo-chan!” Hina exclaimed, as she walked away while waving at Pareo. Pareo waved back, still wanting to spend more time with Hina. Upon seeing Pareo’s face, Hina let out a small smirk. “I love you!” She yelled, before now fully running the other way. Naturally, Pareo started blushing like crazy again.
“I’m back!” You yelled as you opened the door in front of you.
“Ah Hina-chan you’re here. Ready for rehearsal?” Chisato said as she welcomed you.
“Let me change my clothes first!”
“Don’t take too long, the others are all ready.” Chisato said while walking towards the practice room.
While looking for your clothes inside your bag, you picked up a small red box inside that was hiding deep within. You opened it, inside was a small, silver ring, with a diamond a top of it. You smiled for a bit before closing it again.
“Sorry Pareo-chan, but you’ll be the one wearing the wedding dress not me~”
End.
