Abbie tried to go on a date, watched fnaf

Summary:

Sorry y'all I made this for a creative writing club thing, it's kinda ass but I liked one part

Work Text:

Abbie always thought that Lana was a pretty girl. Her patchy sweater, the odd sock puppets that she possessed, the little hair swirl that seemed to move when there was no wind, her charming smile of sharp teeth…

Wait.

Hm…

Nevermind. Lana was pretty and nice, and no one was perfect. Even when Abbie was a bit…lacking in intelligence, to say the least, Lana was so patient! She could explain something boring and make it seem so interesting, the boy could pour over texts for hours just for a little fun fact to surprise her. He had never thought that cheese caves would be something that was all over his search history a few days ago, but it was a part of his internet travels that would stay with him forever.

Lately, however, Lana seemed to drift away from…well, everyone. Abbie could see her small frowns, the way she stared into the distance for many minutes, her blank gaze disconcerting. When the boy would privately ask her if everything was okay (after mustering up the little courage he could find in his heart), she would simply brush him off.

He wanted to help, so badly. Lana had aided him in so many situations, so many of his problems. Why couldn’t he reciprocate?

Today he invited her to a roller skating rink, despite having two left feet and the balance of a penguin. Whatever, he could probably learn soon enough.

Lana was… hesitant at first, but then as if something passed over her, she enthusiastically agreed. So now, he was fussing over his clothes. He didn’t want to show up in an old worn shirt, what if the girl looked down on him for it? She may show up to school cycling through three different outfits every week, but Abbie still wanted to impress her!

Abbie, left alone with his thoughts, couldn’t help but go over all of their interactions. Did she have a favorite color? A favorite fruit?! Does she like cheese!? He thinks he recalls her going on a tangent about dairy products once. Oh gosh, what if she actually HATES cheese and he brings it up!? He should stay home- no, no. He has to go, she’ll be disappointed if he ditches her.

Probably. If Abbie was in her shoes he would be crushed.

His door was knocked on, breaking him out of his flurry of thoughts. He should answer it! His date- no, his hangout with Lana is going to be in two hours! He should get any distractions out of his way as soon as possible.

He opened the door. “Hello? How c-”

Lana was at the door. LANA WAS AT THE DOOR.

Wait, why was she at the door??? They were going to meet up at the roller rink in two hours!

Also, how did she know where he lived? He can’t remember ever telling her.

“Oh! Hey Abbie!” Lana greeted warmly, any other suspicions flying out of Abbie’s mind because wait, he was still underdressed!!

After seeing Lana’s outfit, he became a nervous mess. Why?

She was wearing a full suit of medieval armor. Was he supposed to wear one too?? Where did she get it? Sure, it made her look enchanting, but WHERE DID SHE GET IT??

“So…when did the date start?” Lana asked innocently.

“...in two hours.” He meekly mumbled, not having the strength to look into her shining eyes.

“...oh.” He couldn't tell if the girl had a grin or not, but she energetically patted his head. “Well, why don’t we start now?”

“Oh! Now?” Lana seemed to be looking past Abbie, eager to enter his home. Her gaze devoured his living room, analyzing all that the light shone upon. “Oh…okay…”

He opened the door a bit wider, stepping to the side. “Come in!” The boy tried to give a smile, but his nerves got the better of him. “M-make yourself at home!”

“Wow…this place is nice!”

There was an awkward pause.

“...well…uh…I'll bring snacks.” Abbie hurried off, leaving Lana alone to scavenge a decent plate.

He rolled through cabinets, pulling out an assortment of little treats. “She likes sweet stuff…or savory? Maybe both? Aughh, this is hard.” He settled on several options, neatly arranging them on the plate.

He shuffled into the room, taking a deep breath. “Lana, I got some-”

Lana was not in the room. That was…oddly terrifying. Abbie knows he trusts her, but his house is pretty creaky and all he hears is his own heart, the beating getting louder and faster the more he stands there. “...Lana?”

“Herrrre…Abbie.” her voice rumbled from…everywhere.

“...no.” Abbie hauled his bum OUT. Usain bolt type, ya know.

“ABBIE! WAIT PLEASE!!”

He was nearly at the door before his own carpet decided to betray him. The threads unraveled, stretching out to twist around his ankles. The fibers coiled around his arms, his hips, his mouth.

Abbie screamed, though it was muffled heavily.

“Abbie…please.” Lana’s voice came from his skin, his bones, his organs. He felt like there were hands under his flesh, trying to pull his lungs out so he couldn’t yell. At least, that’s what it felt like. “It’s okay. It is okay.”

He didn’t stop struggling, until he couldn’t get enough oxygen to fight. Once he stopped moving for a few seconds, his confinement was loosened as he was set on the couch.

“I have…so much to explain.” she mumbled quietly.

“...okay.” Abbie turned on a movie. He was a wee bit about to pass out, so he thought that maybe some background noise would hel- oh my god is that the five nights at Frdy movie he hadn’t seen that?!!

“I am…everything. I guess. I didn't come into…being? Until a few months before e you were- oh my god is that Freddy Fazbear?”

They did not go to the roller rink that night
