Work Text:
Conner started to sweat when Owen grabbed for his hand. He tried to keep his focus on the movie they were watching together, but Owen had to make it harder by resting his head on Conner’s shoulder. Owen chuckled at one of the jokes and snuggled in closer to him, making Conner feel like he was about to explode.
Conner had no idea what he did to end up here. He had no idea how his best friend could ever forgive him after all of these years. But here he was, cuddling with him. Dating him. He looked over at Owen and found himself just staring, and for whatever reason, Conner decided to sneak a small, quick kiss on his cheek, which immediately caught Owen’s attention. He felt Owen’s eyes heavy on him, and blush rose to his face. Owen smiled at him, and Conner glanced at him before looking back to the screen after his nerves took over. Conner mumbled.
“What?”
Owen cupped Conner’s cheek with his hand and pulled him into a soft, gentle kiss, and Conner leaned into it. Owen’s ran his hand through Conner’s now grown out hair, smiling as he felt ConnerThey pulled back at the same time after a few seconds, and Owen gazed in his eyes, his smile full of love and passion that Conner never received from anybody.
Conner finally smiled at him, receiving a kiss on the temple from Owen before he resumed watching the glowing screen in front of them. For the first time in years, Conner was truly happy. And so was Owen. Owen filled the deep empty void he never knew existed. He couldn’t imagine his life without him.
“I’m back,” Lawrence said, letting his bag fall onto the floor.
No one seemed to notice he was home. Lawrence walked into the living room, his eyes widened for a second when he saw both of his friends cuddling and watching of movie.
“I haven’t seen you guys do this for years.” He smiled, catching their attention as he headed into the kitchen, opening the fridge to look for a beer.
“Hey Lawrence.” Owen grinned, lifting his head off Conner to look over at him.
“Con, I’m gonna go brush my teeth. Pause it for me?” Conner nodded. “Yeah, of course.” Owen glanced at Lawrence who was still looking in the fridge. Once he was sure Lawrence wouldn’t notice, he leaned in to give Conner a quick kiss before heading to the restroom.
“Alright,” Lawrence took a drink of his beer, “I’m going to my room. Conner, tell your girlfriend I said goodnight.”
Conner blushed, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Fuck you.”
A smug laugh came out of Lawrence as he walked away into his room. His comment lead Conner to spiral in his thoughts. He wondered if Owen would someday fall out of love with him, and would leave him just as he did to Owen.
But all it took for Conner to snap out of it was the sound of Owen’s voice.
