Work Text:

The people of Amity always questioned what type of ghost Phantom was. Based on the information gathered, they were able to categorize ghosts, but they were unable to label Phantom.

Phantom was an oddity.

He would do one thing then do something that completely contradicts it. He didn't seem to fit in just one category, he seemed to fit in almost all of them.

Died from an element, raved about someone's actions had killed him.

Has ice powers, then turns around and can use fire, which none of the other ghost seem to be able to do. They had one element power and was stuck with it.

Protects the living from the dead, but also stop the living from attacking or capturing the dead.

Speaks in modern English and slang, but there is proof that Phantom has been around since the pre-historic times.

But there is something that has never changed.

He always knew where there was trouble.

They don't know what to believe or even how to approach this.

Even with the usage of the internet, it would take everyone a good minute to figure out where a fight was taking place.

But Phantom was always there the second something happened.

And taking into considering the fact that Phantom was a new to Amity, just like the rest of the other ghosts.

But none of them knew Amity like Phantom.

It was like Phantom could communicate with the city.

They wanted to know the answers about Phantom, and they were going to get them.

Well.

They was actually a random reporter and his cameraman that was never given the type of day or any assignments, so they took it upon themselves to research this all on their own.

And today they were going to interview the infamous Phantom.

Phantom finished bottling the latest ghost who decided to attack Amity.

It was the perfect opportunity.

"Phantom! Phantom, wait!"

Before Phantom could zoom off, the reporter stopped him.

Phantom was conflicted, before he shrugged, "Wassup, Prince?"

Prince paused before, continuing, "We'll get to how you know my name later, but the more pressing question is,"

"Phantom, what exactly are you?"

That question made Phantom blink, "A ghost." He made a duh face.

Prince rolled his eyes, "Let me elaborate, there is always something cohesive or some type of unspoken or unwritten that ghosts always seem to follow."

Prince paused, "But you seem to be an exception to that rule, why?"

Phantom opened and closed his mouth, not completely sure how to answer or if he even should. It all showed on his facial expressions, Prince was able to catch on that Phantom was aware of how weird he was considered to be, even to the standards of what the living believe that the dead to be.

"Do you not want to tell us the answer or you simply can't?" Prince narrowed his eyes.

Phantom loosen a little, "It's a mixture of both for multiple reasons. Just know if anyone ever found the answer to that question, many people, mostly children would be in danger."

Prince's was determined to get answers, but didn't want to be the reason why people die or end up injured, "Well, is there is anything you can tell us about how you know everything that seems to be going on in the town of Amity Park, while other ghost who seem to be here slightly longer or just as long as you seem to get lost every time they come to Amity Park?"

"Is it possibly because Amity Park is your haunt or resting place?"

Phantom immediately snapped, "Never ask a ghost where their final resting place is."

Prince was taken aback, "Oh, my apologies. Why is that?"

Phantom took a deep breath. He grabbed his arm and looked away, "The reason why we're ghost is because we do not have resting places."

"My condolences, so essentially, you do not have a grave or had your ashes scattered?" Prince pressed.

Phantom looked at Prince hard for a minute, "If I answer this, will you change to another topic?"

Prince thought about it, "Yes, if you answer my question, I will move away from this topic."

Phantom nodded, "Good, and correct."

Prince pressed his lips, "No elaboration?"

Phantom narrowed his eyes, "Stick with our agreement, Prince Guller."

Prince eyes widen before he gained his composure, "Fine, so is Amity Park your haunt? You seem fiercely protective of it and does that give you a connection to the city that allows you to know exactly where any attacks or problems occur?"

"Amity was my haunt, but it isn't anymore."

"Does that mean you won't be protecting Amity as much as you used to?"

Phantom laughed, "Ancients no! I just meant that the dynamic changed."

Prince was now confused, "Please elaborate."

"Originally, Amity was my haunt, but over the course of this year, so many of you believed me to the this city's protector and mascot, someone who represents Amity Park."

"Do you mean how most people answer, the question 'What is Amity Park?' with some type of variation of 'Phantom's city' or 'the city that ghost protects'?"

Phantom laughed again, "Exactly."

Prince paused, he seemed to think of something before he came to a realization, "You became the embodiment of Amity."

Phantom floated around Prince and the cameraman, "Yes."

Prince's eyes widen, "You are Amity."

"Yes." Phantom softly smiled.

"Is that how you know my name?" Prince asked.

"Yeah, I know every person who enters and exits my borders. I know their name, age, and their exactly location."

"Living or dead. No one can hide from me in my city. Just because I haven't come to you yet doesn't mean I don't know about what you're doing." Phantom gave a toothy grin.

"So did you know that I was going to question you today?" Prince questioned, cause if he was understanding this correctly. Technically Phantom was the omnipotent god of Amity Park.

"Ancients no, but I knew it was coming. Your obsession with knowing what I am is unhealthy, and you should clean your room and your desk soon. I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of bugs and mold starting to grow on your sandwich you left uneaten a couple of days ago."

Prince grimaced, "Ahem, is it an ability that you constantly have on? Or are you only aware of what you want to be aware of in the city?"

Phantom shrugged, "Ancients, you ask questions that have complex answers, which I know you want. So the answer is its a little of both. The ability is constantly on, I can check up on anyone with my city, however, its more of background noise compared to anything. Originally, when I first gained this power, I could hear and see everything, I had to learn how to blur it enough to where it wasn't as overwhelming as it was before. I only focus on conversations or flashing sights when I see or hear something concerning."

Phantom seemed to look into the distance and his eye's flashed, "You have a little less than 10 minutes before I have to leave. Do take note that it might be your last, so use it wisely."

As per his job, Prince already had a question, "What are 'Ancients'? Given the context, it seems it is possibly the dead's equivalent of Jesus Christ or God."

Phantom grimaced, "Asking the hard questions, huh? Ancients, I was not expecting that." Then he grinned, "'Ancients' opposed to their names, are not the oldest ghosts in existence or the creators of ghosts. Its a lot more than that. Ancients are powerful beings that embody a concept, I can't give exact names but I can give examples. Concepts such as time or dreams. Think of it more of how in mythology all gods have their main thing they have power and control over, its the same for Ancients, but a million times powerful. Granted, they don't really bother the living or other beings or doing anything that's outside their jobs, and the only times they do is because they are trying to prevent the multiuniverse from self destructing, so do thank the Ancient's every now and then, cause it is a thankless job to take care of beings who not only didn't know about you but also resent your entire race." Phantom gave a smile that resembled a lot like that one emoji.

Phantom's eyes flashed, "1 minute."

Prince was on it, "Is God or the gods real?"

Phantom's eye twitched, "They are, and Ancients aren't a lot of them annoying. Next, question."

"What does God look like?" Prince looked at Phantom in the eyes, this was a very important question, no one ever was able to depict what God looked like. Since in the bible it always said that the mortal couldn't look at him and live.

Phantom stared before an inhumanly large grin took over his face, "You're looking at him."

Prince was left speechless, "You-?"

Phantom's eyes flashed again before Prince could say another word, "Bye!" and he was gone.

Prince was still speechless, but he needed to end the recording with some type of decorum, "And you heard you from the man himself. Phantom is literally the ghost of Amity Park and I guess God. This is Reporter Prince Guller signing off."

----------------------

This is great.

This is absolutely wonderful.

They didn't believe them.

They didn't believe anything that Phantom said in the video, they thought he was just trolling them.

Prince and his cameraman had submitted their recording, and was promptly laughed at.

They wont be laughing when they prove everything in the video was true.

Granted, Prince didn't know if it was true, but it seem plausible. It was the only explanation to explain why Phantom was different.

They had a plan, a plan that should work if Phantom wasn't lying.

Prince closed his eyes, confidently walking closer to the ledge.

He didn't stop, and now he was falling.

Putting all his trust in 'God'.

"Hello again, Prince Guller."
