Work Text:

There had been something weighing on the Supreme Kai’s mind, ever since the Tournament of Power.

The Multiverse had been spared- but it was clear Grand Zen-oh was displeased with the state of multiple Universes. “Low Mortal Level”, they had said. Thanks to Goku being on their good side, it was unlikely such an incident would happen again anytime soon, but…

A Mortal man’s lifespan is barely a speck compared to the lifespan as one such as Grand Zen-oh. When he eventually passed, if their Mortal Level had not increased by then, who’s to say if they would still be so merciful? The Omnikings were painfully unpredictable, after all.

While the others celebrated their survival, this problem continued to eat away at him. Shin knew very well there was one, specific individual responsible for their level being so low- alas, Lord Beerus had decided Frieza was too useful to destroy. Even if Shin decided to take matters into his own hands, ignoring any potential punishment, he knew he was nowhere near strong enough to face the man.

So, he’d have to solve this problem the way a Kai is meant to.

The obvious solution at first glance is to just create more life-rich worlds- planets full of lush plant life to form the perfect building blocks of life.

But, therein lies the problem- should intelligent life gain a foothold, and form a coherent society, the Frieza Force would likely wipe them out, snatching up the planet for themselves. If he wanted to do this, he’d need to keep it hidden from them, but how?

It’s during teatime with the Elder Kai one day, when he’s pondering this problem, when the answer hits him. He recalls New Namek, how they had wished it far, far off into the Universe to keep it away from prying eyes. It had, mostly, worked as well.

That’s all he’d have to do! Create new worlds as far off into the Universe as he could, at the very edges of existence. No one would ever go out there, they’d be safe to develop and live peacefully, and he could treat them like nurseries for new life, caring for the planets carefully until sentient life evolved.

Bolting up from his seat (and nearly knocking Elder Kai off his own from the surprise), he quickly apologized, before swiftly running off to the temple. He’d instruct Kibito to leave him alone for some time- he needed utmost focus to create one planet, let alone multiple.

Within the temple, there stood a dark room, where he could observe the entirety of his Universe from above. Colours swirled in the floor below him, as if he were walking through a galaxy. Carefully, Shin walked out as far as he could, before stopping. A deep breath- inhale, then exhale- evening out his breathing, and calming his mind.

It needed to be perfect. First, a star- large enough to provide light and warmth, but not so large it would cook anything in its vicinity. Second, the planet itself. Building up layer after layer around a molten core, molding it to the best of his ability. A little larger than the planet Earth, but not by much.

Next, water. Grand oceans, followed by rivers and lakes. Flora was next, coating the planet in a dense, lush layer of greenery. Plenty of food for any potential herbivores that may evolve, and plenty of room for any prey animals to hide.

Unbeknownst to the young Kai, as he worked, a bright ring of Divine energy formed behind his head.

Hours turned to days, days to weeks, weeks to months, as Shin worked. It had to be perfect. Each planet had to be lovingly hand-crafted. By the time he was finished, a small Galaxy had been born at the edge of the Universe. That Divine Halo faded away, as he finally exited the room.

Exhaustion catching up to him, he very nearly passed out right on the floor. Were it not for the expectant Kibito who had been waiting, and caught him as he fell.

He’d have to keep a close eye on his new project. It could not be allowed to fail.

. . . But that would have to wait until after he got some rest.
