Chapter Text

The old doctor stared intently at the computer screen, his eyes scanning the data appearing in real-time. As he analyzed the results, a sense of awe crept into his normally calm demeanor.

Ryo strolled into the office, snapping the doctor out of his thoughts.

“So, Doc, we’re all good?” Ryo asked, quickly grabbing his holster from the desk and shrugging on the jacket he’d carelessly draped over the chair.

“In a hurry?” the old man responded, raising one bushy white eyebrow in mock amusement.

Recognizing the commanding tone that never failed to grab his attention, Ryo abandoned his rush, plopping down in the chair. The professor smirked at the immediate obedience. Ryo, leaning back defiantly, flashed an insolent grin—the same one the old doctor remembered from a once brash, young soldier.

“The usual,” Ryo said casually.

The doctor, not easily swayed, mirrored Ryo's relaxed posture, sinking deeper into his chair. For a moment, he observed his former pupil in silence. Ryo swallowed nervously, knowing he was in for it.

Leaning forward, the professor’s gaze sharpened behind his glasses. “Ryo, these results are… extraordinary,” he said, his voice carrying a deliberate mix of amazement and concern.

Ryo raised an eyebrow. “Extraordinarily good, or extraordinarily bad?” he quipped, masking his unease.

The doctor smiled enigmatically. “That depends on your perspective,” he replied. “Your physical stats surpass typical human metrics—strength, agility, reflexes, lung capacity...”

Ryo smirked at the praise.

The professor leaned back and fired his next shot. “Someone’s been taking very good care of you,” he remarked slyly.

Ryo’s smirk faltered as his cheeks flushed slightly.

“And your lungs and liver are showing excellent recovery. A perfect muscle-to-fat ratio...” the professor continued, his amusement growing.

Ryo quickly averted his gaze, avoiding the sight of the old man now openly chuckling at his discomfort.
